Well at least he exploits to get players, rather then certain clans and groups throwing fake servers in the list to deceive players on to their servers, both things are just as bad imo.

I agree with removing those fake servers, ok if you click on players, and servers are arranged by amount of players you get this:

and nearly all that servers when you click on them are redirecting you to some of F|A servers. Which isnt cool in my opinion.

It has been problem for a long time, many groups have these fake servers set up, this issue of deceiving people and tricking them on to your server should have been addressed as a problem a long time ago, but hey, there are people in places which will make sure this never does get addressed, I’m sure of it

YEH, what im saying that in these days server without good menu, which is for example Join My Server above Play Online button or such, cant succed anymore, i had that kind of menu removed from my server for a while and I exprienced a lot of less amount people playing, but when Ive put it back up again, ive got many people on it again. In my oppinion there must be a way to disable that menu’s in general, i think that would be the best and the most fairest way for other servers to succed also. Not to mention those fake servers…that should be removed for real…Cuz its kinda the same thing what Vincent was doing only on the another and less pushing way, but still having 20 servers on masterlist and they all are redirecting to 1-2 other servers isnt cool at all, so I hope that guys from SD and ID would consider this and remove those servers from master list for now, and in future maybe found a way to prevent everyone from doing the same thing again. Thx.

Well, I didn’t check it myself but if all those top fakes redirect to F|A’s servers, it’s pretty unfair to the others IMHO since these fakes just fool people by providing false info such as pings or amount of players.

I think it isn’t possible to remove those “menus” of servers.
and those redirection servers isn’t fair, ID or sD should fix this problem

In my oppinion there must be a way to disable that menu’s in general

More seriously, personally I have my favs and stick to them… People who wants to play ET may behave the same. Menus are used by casuals, I think. I know my clan just have a menu enabled when they’re playing on one of our server, to switch between our servers (I mean, you’re on our NQ, you open the menu, and switch to a more populated one), but not main menu one when you’re disconnected.

From the first 14 servers in the masterserverlist nine are fake, atleast seven of them are from F|A. But it has been like this for years already.

Imo this is crossing the line as well, but you won’t hear paul complain about that because some of fia are admin on his own website.

I was unware of the fact were also using those full 76/100 servers etc. I am totally in favour of removing those too.You won’t hear me complain about that if they’ll block that…

The masterserverlist, to my knowledge, got not hacked at all. It did just what it did all the time before: sending ip addresses …

A virus ? Also no. It was just certain OOB’s. The masterserver is only a helpers man, so to speak. Has to do alot about ET protocols and stuff. I also admit it was quite cleverly found. The serverfacade (afaik, never tried it though) is sending you out same redirects, so no need to flip the table

I had complained for it before…other clans have been running 1-10 server facades for their one server. That T.C clan leader T.C. Mafia even faked other server names and started more then 10-20 fake servers using server facade. Nothing was done against for him. Did I see his server getting disabled, no? Even that LZ clan started copying name with just one name difference…So what’s the deal?

It’s sad that only jealous people complain about it because in the end those server facade users are doing the same thing. Running server on 2.55 and redirecting players from 2.6b. Here is the deal make everyone stop using server facade to redirect players from 2.6b and 2.55 and I will do same thing.

If you want players from 2.6b just run server on 2.6b. Stop your redirection bull**** because it’s unfair to admins who run servers on 2.6b. Stop being hypocrite.

Anyway i have 2 servers running 2.60b only and 5 running 2.55+ for those 5 i have a facade showing them on 2.60b list. 1 facade for each server

Imo that aint fake servers, servername fits the actual server and they join the server they expect to join, except 2.60b -> 2.55+

real problem is that we all just could change our servers to 2.60b, been suggested by me before in other threads, but none of you wants to loose the precious 2.55 players.

I didn’t modified play online or tricked or forced ‘everyone’ joining my server when they clicked ‘Play Online’. I didn’t forced anyone to join my server like you did. U where forcing each player to join your server. Their is major difference in forcing and joining server on user’s will. Understood?

Like every server facade I have server from 2.6b to 2.55 to redirect. I agree it’s not good but hey “many clans” got server facade and bots in spec. serverfacade redirect clearly gives message do you want to join this server? If user selects yes then only user will be able to redirect and can join 2.55 server. If user selects “NO” he stays in master server list and can join any server of his choice while in your case users where getting no choice at all. Stop being hypocrite and jealous.

Since when you have started your server? It’s like this hey I want to start server and want to make it popular from day 1. Screw that you can’t or no one can including me. It takes time.

How much you spended in paid advertising for your clan on Facebook, Google adsense or internet? Or let me say did you? I bet you didn’t.

How many servers your clan run? We run pretty much CS:S, ET, BF3, COD:MW3, Minecraft, COD4, TF2, etc. so all players from other games also play on our servers.

Can I see your clan forums? How about you compare that with mine ? Am I cheating on that too? Why you are not whinning about I want 9000 users on my forums from day one? I like how you are comparing your clan with mine.

No it’s not whinny at all. I am just saying things and I agree with you. Let’s do this:

1. Disable all server facades for all clan so no more redirecting issues.
2. Remove the fake ping/flags of omni bot on server.
3. Ask clans to remove the pk3s which open website once you close/quit ET without consent of player. Button is more then enough in pk3 which ask users yes or no and then open websites.
4. Move to 2.6b all together then all players will be on same patch.

You are having same name because ‘server facade’ doesn’t have option to change name. If I release another patch where admins can change their name of their serverfacade server many will use it and will not complain for it. Mentality is like this… “if I can’t use it, it’s no good and if I can use it, it’s all good.” I am just saying in general nothing against you or anyone.

We run 10-11 public ET servers at different locations i.e. Chicago, Dallas, NY, France and Germany and couple of private servers when needed. I will disable redirecting from 2.6b to 2.55 like other clans/admins are doing for their server and if all agree to stop using server facade. I know it’s unfair to 2.6b admins and I agree on that and I have no problem in agreeing what’s wrong but why alone I should stop? Every clan is using redirecting, so do I.

this is what im talking about, i doubt anyone would complain if we all got server facade’s so our servers are shown on 2.55 and 2.6b, thats ok for everyone i believe, but this, this all are fake FA servers…those 99 players crap and so on, and thats is the thing which isnt cool at all, same thing about TC clan…like i said, there isnt a problem when you have facade for 2.6b version, thats ok, we are here complaining when you have 10 facade’s for 1 server…

I have no menus added to my servers atm, will make an ingame one when i comes around to it tho, but that will only be shown when connected to my servers, and its a nice way to show the server rules.

Kill the masterserverlist on 2.55 and delete all the 2.55 installs

I have only 2.60b installs in my downloads and if we can get ID to kill the 2.55 serverlist and SD + whoever has an et install to replace with a 2.60b install in their downloads, then all will go 2.60b im sure.

but its not somthing you and i can do, we need to get ID and SD and other etrelated Sites todo the changes
