THEBRINK.TV IGL tournament footage is up!

(dommafia) #1

If you missed the live matches you can now watch the archived videos on demand or VODs. Matches start @ 38 minutes in the first vid. They had some technical issues until the 1 hour 26 minute mark though .

enjoy!

Not to be an ass or anything, but will this be the definite site layout?

Cause after about a year I would assume it’s a real pain to find / scroll the wanted VOD.

Anyway, keep up the good work.

PS: Any chance of getting the ESL cup broadcasted?

Am i the only one who is getting bored INSTANTLY from these videos?

Only light’s,some medium’s,NO HEAVYS. (guess why ROFL)
Only Carb9/Kross (guess why,ROFL)
Only the same 3 maps (Aquarium and those other two,i play this game too less that i know all the maps names xD)

And the worst thing of them all–>NO FIRST PERSON CAM!? disgusted (DAMN,even CS friggin 1.6 has it)

You can really see in these brink.tv videos how unbalanced and not well thought out the game is atm.

(Exedore) #4

We’ve never said that the retail version of the game is specifically balanced for competitive play. We’re working to address the issues you’ve mentioned, and a host of others we think are entirely valid.

(Wepohn) #5

Yeah, no first person cam :’(

Why not?

(sirius89) #6

Holy,i would have never sayed that.Balancing a game only for competitive players would be stupid anyway but balancing the game so every bodytype has his right to be on the battlefield is another thing. ^^

It’s not that the heavy is only not played in competitive mode but you rarely see a heavy on pubs, cause they are not well balanced.

But i know, balancing comes with time and balancing a game can be a real torture i guess.
And really, balance is ATM one of the little problems so let’s see what you got when the first balance patch comes.

1:Performance
2:Balancing
3:extra DLC content

Nice to hear this, I hope the constant whining and knee jerk responses by small vocal sections of the player base doesn’t deter you (SD) in your efforts in this regard.

There’s quite of lot of folk out there who can look past the short comings, that will hopefully be addressed, and see the potential of this game and are patient enough to wait a while longer for the game to be improved as a whole.

I really enjoyed watching these videos, some where a little long but the game play was top notch and is it just me or are tournament rules awesome!

BTW. Splash Damage you NEED to watch these videos and listen to all the suggestions that are made because honestly i dont think i heard a single idea that was bad. And were not talking major game changing suggestions just things to make the game better for everyone.

Really SD check out these vids.

Honestly, the same imbalances exist in pub play also, the only difference is more players use subpar loadouts

I take your response to mean that you are looking into rebalancing the weapons, which is awesome news. This game is close to being perfectly tailored to what I want in an FPS, if the Carb-9 got nerfed and the heavy weapons and a some of the ARs got buffed, there would be real variety in weapon selection also.

Want to drop a hint that you’re making hack objectives easier and adding chat during cutscenes and debriefing screens also?

It might be hard to believe given a lot of the vitriol out there, but our toughest critics are still ourselves. We didn’t work as long and as hard on Brink as we have to just let the problems lie.

(Exedore) #11

Again, can’t give specifics until things are 100% tested and confirmed. Stuff is coming.

:stroggbanana: :stroggbanana: This, Pleases me. :stroggbanana: :stroggbanana:

As more of a casual player who just plays the game just for fun and fun only, I have found the game to be balanced. Thats my experience. It may be different for all these competition players and maybe splash can do something special for them, beyond the “competition” match setting.

(Bullveyr) #14

I hope it’s the right stuff.

(Smokeskin) #15

You shouldn’t listen to those people anyway. They’re just people who think Brink looks cool but want it to be another game. They’ll never be happy, because they’ll never get CoD with Brinks aesthetics. I guess it is a bit unfair that they’re so much more vocal than those of us who really like Brink.

(gooey79) #16

Sorry guys, I don’t mean to sound like I’m having a go. But. I find this kind of statement very hard to believe when your servers include a configuration that’s called ‘Competition’.

OT, I’ve watched a few of these matches - first person view is 100% needed.

They also have a button you can click on main menu for downloadable content which isn’t available yet.

(Smoochy) #18

eh? who designs maps that arent balanced for both sides?

bottom line is if its balanced it should be ok for competition (not that i play it) im more concerned about how you say its unbalanced. we all know it is as defenders usually win, which they shouldnt.

maybe in time it will balance out but the game should be released balanced and relatively bug free. :frowning: at the moment there are more bugs than the temple of doom!

(Smoochy) #19

no, some of us are having issues:

no sound on some maps (kills the fun)
invisible/corrupted text
invisible enemies (oooh what fun)
terrible performance on high end rigs (ATI - yeah ive wasted £200)
lag even when you are on ‘green’ (please give us pings - we arent all retards)

sorry to rant but the latest patch was just a joke and made the game run even worse

i bought a new gfx card to play this game (ATI 6970) yet it runs better on my 8800gtx!

i love the premise of brink and when it works smoothly its great, but thats few and far between. i love teamwork games and class based game. if its all fixed up brink will be great but as it stands its simply broken. i do not appreciate paying to play betas

have you thought many people are having those issues? have you seen how many dead servers there are? people are bailing every day. the fact we most likely will not get a patch for another week now means this game is dead to me until it lands!

(shibbyuk) #20

Nice footage, thanks for posting!

It sounds like they agree with you and there are probably enough reminders of that posted on the forum! I hope spirits are still high over at SD because they’ve achieved a lot for an independent UK developer, whichever way you look at it.

I’m really enjoying the game when I get a chance to play it, particularly when I get on the OCB server  And since I don’t get the opportunity to say this at the end of the round - GG
