Well I haven’t been able to play until the latest patch, that has produced more issues than actual fixes. The few new players we have are getting stomped, I did suggest a new player server to help with this. Instead we have a beg for a server option. It is great that our Nexon overlords are so cheap as to not have password or servers locked to high skilled players. Given that most of the servers are populated with tumbleweed you would think that a couple of password servers would there at least . Or are we going to get a billion invites next week to a Beta that runs like a three legged donkey in quicksand? Given Nexons stance on invites due to performance issues I think not somehow. This is the only thing I can think we all can agree with them on.
The whole deal with Nexon.
Nothing will change they said.
It’ll be moving from one platform to another they said.
You will lose all passworded servers then get one back but you have to book it 24 hour in advance they said. Oh wait.
I’ve already been a dick about this whole thing enough. They’ve kindly provided a password in their forum for the server and created a 2nd server that’s bookable. They get some sort of praise for that.
Still really terrible that it had to come to this before they would act on it though. A sign of things to come perhaps? Hope not.
Maybe it’s because I’ve got lots of other things going on at the moment and not really been around much but I don’t get what the big deal is, some technical hiccups, ****ty forum and some administration error on the server front that’s now been looked into? Also afaik isn’t Nexon in the states? They’ll be time zone differences at play I’d imagine so that maybe why things seem to be taking a while for ‘official’ responses and things to be changed, I dunno just thinking out loud. At end of day, this is closed beta test, they’ll be open beta test afterwards I’d imagine and then release, long way to go yet, I’m more concerned about the game side of the game rather than all this crap.
Do you really think it’s all because of the change to Nexon or could it be that the 1 PW for all doesn’t scale to an increasing beta player base? I understand that it’s an issue, but the PW thing is not that easy to handle. I feel like most people aren’t able to put themselves in their position. Maybe I’m wrong and the 1 PW for all solution would work just fine, but apparently there were issues in the ETQW beta, as stated in the thread on the Nexon forums.
I agree with the bad forum software, though. It needs to be fixed asap.
The launcher isn’t perfect either, but it’s still a closed beta and I hope that they fix the issues with it.
They already worked on the server infrastructure.
ive really lost more and more hope in the last months for this game,
nexon makes everything even more worse!..
Not really sure how to respond to this thread tbh, but I’ve had much worse experiences than this lol. I blame SD for spoiling everyone
.
I think the question is should we put our self in there position, Nexon is a large corporation that operates many games. Two that happen to be the same genre as extraction. SD apparently went into bed with Nexon due to there experience in there field, what we have had a catalogue of failure on their part so are we are expected to nod and smile?
Exactly. I’m more concerned about the maps for instance than all these “little non game related problems”.
And I got the feeling that we reached a fase where nothing can be good. We started this downward spiral months ago. And now we can only see things that are wrong.
this, but the level of service we’ve come to enjoy is where ALL games should be, Nexon doesn’t seem to agree. I have to stay off their site, it makes me go toxic
Many of the players coming from ET are coming from a game that was 100% free to play. So when they drop 60-120+ bucks on a game they expect royal service to come along with it and leave reasonable expectations at the castle’s front entrance.
never paid a cent, I expect Splash Damage to ensure the level of service that they are very well known for
btw, a lot of the W:ET players are here on invite, the ones that paid, either are here to support Splash Damage or asked for refunds. No one is asking for “Royal Service” just the normal service we are accustomed to. Most of us have been here supporting Splash Damage for a long time, you been here a couple months, you’re irrelevant

Dude you’re still acting like a clown. I’ve played SD games for over a decade now. I got a $120 founder pack to get into this alpha. And you’re calling me irrelevant and not supporting SD? LOL, you are a joke, son.
Hmm yes, there seems to be an incongruency b/w how things are done here and over there.
If I was someone that organised cups and was more involved in the alpha/beta itself, it would probably annoy me.
So I can see where youre coming from potty.
didn’t say you weren’t supporting SD, just the opposite, take a reading comprehension course " the ones that paid, either are here to support Splash Damage"
but you’re still irrelevant if you think we should accept a lower level of service because Nexon is a joke
must have had to up rep a lot of people to be able to down rep me again
(edit) not worth it

Again with the clown logic.
You said I was only here for a couple months and haven’t been supporting SD for long when I’ve played their games for over a decade.
I give out rep to who deserve it and I drop rep for guys who deserve it. I’ll drop your rep every chance I can when you say something as dopey as you did.
I serious just gotta keep fools on ignore lol, you have fun with the petty quoting.
edit:
Oh and LMAO you think I am going to accept lower level service from Nexon? Hah, my point is that things take time to improve and when you have expectations that things will be done faster than what is reasonable to expect you have unreasonable expectations. Anyway, believe whatever you want (and ignore all the posts where I said this stuff should happen like I dunno I said it like 2-3 times in this post alone but not to expect it to be done instantly).
I explained this on IRC to some of the VIPs last night but will mention it again here in an attempt to kill the drama.
The fact there were not some passworded servers after migration was an oversight on our part. We had a different person organizing the list of servers for beta than the people that usually organize the pick-up servers in alpha and we forgot to mention to him, or Nexon, that we’d need these.
When we noticed that we spoke to Nexon about fixing it which why there are now two servers.
The reason for the booking system is the change from alpha to beta. The number of users will ramp up over beta and there will be more contention for this sort of private server. We experienced this in the ETQW closed beta and it caused a lot of trouble whilst we retained semi-public passwords. Teams would spy on each other, people would interrupt matches by accident and on purpose, teams would argue about who’s turn it was to use the server and some teams would take the servers all the time. In the end we ran a booking system which fixed those issues for the short time the private servers existed.
I know this is not ideal for everybody but it is a reasonable approach. If there are elements of it that you think won’t work and you have suggestions of how to improve it then please make those suggestions and if they are reasonable Nexon and ourselves will work to improve the process.
I have to admit I found it a little sad last night that people reacted the way they did to something that is so straight forward to discuss and improve with feedback, it just takes a little bit of calm and a second to view it from somebody else’s perspective.
There were some good suggestions on IRC in the end last night on how else to improve this and I’ll talk to a few people here today to try to get those set up in the near future. Nexon have already responded quickly to give you folks the password for an unbooked server.
Ultimately this system is not going to exist for too long. We’re aiming to have private servers that people can own and admin themselves at some point as well as systems for custom and ranked pick-up games in-game, including matchmaking options. Those are the best way to deal with this feature and what we have now is simply a way for us to support pick-ups and some clan play in the short term.

Well I think we’re a little sad when our feedback on straight forward issues takes weeks to be resolved. For instance putting a password on the servers. Suggested on 15/10 and on 18/10, but not resolved properly for 2 weeks. Instead met by a server you need to book and before that a post that said “We are almost ready to push live we will make an announcement regarding how to get in as soon as it’s ready.”.
Maybe there was some drastic change to the way passwords work, but you could have at least communicated that instead of just letting us sit in bewilderment why something was removed and then takes weeks to turn back on. (Isn’t this a straight forward issue?)

I agree it could have been communicated better but the delay was a simple matter of priorities, it was better to fix some of the launcher and server issues that affected everybody first so nobody really focused on this.
forums at nexon are a joke and need to be fixed asap.
i was about to report some bugs to nexon to get them sorted but not gonna do that with this awefull forum they got over there.
most annoying is the logout every freakin time you close the page.
i dont get why you guys from sd are letting this happen , nexon is ruining your reputation with this.
dont want to exaggerate but i dont know a single forum thats worse than this one.
i appreciate your work and like most of it so far but i fear that nexon is just about to milk you guys like a fat cow.
PLEASE force them to setup a proper 21st century forum thats also representing the game artwork.
I find it so sad to see that SD is doing everything in it’s power to keep this game great (cause it IS a great game), but in the meanwhile Nexon is chilling around:
- making bad game launchers which use almost all of your bandwidth and a high amount of cpu.
- bad forums; I mean I don’t care about buying Nexon cash and what other games they have. So just create a vBulletin forum, create some cool stylesheets or even ask SD’s and everyone will be happy.
- not responding often enough, I mean the SD guys do even have more posts on the Nexon forums then they have themselves.
I still have great faith in the future of this game. BUT we, as alpha/beta players, have to keep posting feedback to keep them* get up and make their hands dirty, cooperate as a team with SD and just listen and interact with us. They have to know it, before they do it. But we are the only ones who could them them.
