The whole deal with Nexon.

(potty200) #1

I have been very quite about this. I have given nexon a chance. But is this the level of service I want from a game?

Now many people have been complaining about nexon recently and even before the BETA was released. But I decided to remain optimistic about the partnership and hope that the potential in Dirty Bomb would remain as high as back then. However, recent events have really started to open my eyes. I will give you a few examples of my frustrations. Bare in mind, as probably the most enthusiastic Alpha player, me giving up can only mean bad things for Fringe players.

First off, I posted about a nexon launcher issue I have been having. Making it impossible to open the game or sometimes not even read their forums. So, I decided to post over at the nexon forums. You can find my post here: http://forums.nexon.net/extraction/#%2Fshowthread.php%3F1008310-More-Launcher-problems%26nxid%3D266 Please note the date that it was posted. Started by potty, 10-27-2013 09:16 AM. To my suprise, nobody from nexon has even acknowlaged my post let alone solved the issue. So very frustrating.

Secondly, I was glad to see a sticky topic go up named “private Server”. To my amusement I found out that you have to try and PLAN your time on the server. Jesus christ. I am honestly not sure if my leg is being pulled, if they actually want to treat us like school kids or plain retarded. Sorry for the honesty here, but I am mega let down by this. **** playing XT right now if I cannot get stuff moving with the competitve side of things. Without blowing my own trumpet here, I was one of the very FEW reasons people could be arsed to play. Hell, I haven’t seen the likes of WezelKrozum, Raste, Tankey, Sean or many other people joining the teamspeak or Public very often. “shaped by gamers*” <-- note the star.

Their forums. I have whined about them before. How long does it take someone to make a set of forums that actually work? I could make a decent set in about 7 minutes and I dont work with computers for my job. Surely someone in nexon has 10 minutes to make a nice set of forums for us? It would be like someone coming to my butcher and asking for a serloin steak. Instead, I give them a roasting joint because I either A) Don’t know what I am doing, B) Can’t be arsed, or C) Taking the piss out of the customer. Take the choice, which are nexon doing to us? It personally feels like they are taking the damn piss out of us.

This is weeks worth f frustration. I have tried to be as politically correct as possible. But I must of put in more time as the whole nexon team is putting in. It really needs to be addressed because you’ll lose loyal fans who have stuck by this game through bad times as well as the good. I fail to see a future right now with this game while the circus nexon has its hands on it. Deeply disapointed and super frustrated. Sorry for any harm caused to inderviduals if I offended them!

*Dictated by nexon.

I have just emailed them and copied in Locki.

This is a complete joke.

Gief me rep yo!

EDIT: Thanks Shifty.

(acekiller345) #4

Completely agree. While I wasnt in the Alpha for very long, the service we’ve gotten for the Beta can only lead to a dead game or pay to win, which is as good as dead for SD.

Should have just stuck with FireTeam…

(Kl3ppy) #5

I had to spread some rep before, but all of you 3 got +1

(acekiller345) #6

But what about me? Im a lonely one star… :frowning:

(DarkangelUK) #7

To be honest I was hoping Nexon were going to prove all the nay sayers wrong, mostly for SD’s benefit, but wow they really aren’t doing themselves any favours. What pisses me off is that SD are going to be hurting from this the most as it sounds like Nexon already had a poor rep… they’re sinking themselves lower and dragging SD with them. Locki and the rest need to sit down with Nexon and tell them to get their bloody act together, they’re messing with another company’s future here and it’s just not bloody on… get your **** together ffs!

(Mustang) #8

Have a second one to go with that.

(Kl3ppy) #9

there you go

I love this man, he is speaking the truth!

Reserving the server does seem like a fair way to use the private servers at this point. I agree that they should be more accommodating but it isn’t incredulous that they are using a fair system. Give everyone the people the password and wtf is the point of having a password protected server? Are only select people supposed to have the password? I totally understand your frustration here but I am trying to see it from their point of view. Hopefully when they have more than 1 server up they’ll be more flexible. Also, that thread is just filled with nasty responses instead of level headed requests. Certainly people can communicate their frustrations in a receptive manner.

Regarding forums, I doubt you could make a forum work with their infrastructure and secure in 7 minutes. You can’t just set up an entire website linked to their services in a matter of minutes. They do need to work on their forums but I wouldn’t expect them to have done anything by now.

Usually pw protected servers keep “pub” players away from scrims so the teams can focus on the game itself and dont have to bother with joining players.

(Protekt1) #13

Yeah I know, which is why they are accommodating at all. I was in that situation with a game at full release before they added private servers. It is quite annoying, especially when they didn’t even have lower count servers so we had to 8v8 in a game we wanted to 5v5.

They should be more accommodating but I kinda see why they are doing it the way they are. They are assuming that 2 or more groups of people are going to argue over a single server’s use. So maybe when they have more of these servers they will change the policy.

(Violator) #14

I’ll be honest, I think Nexon’s current playerbase for their other games is casual and casual players aren’t generally as fussy as us lot - they will see their forum and think ‘hey that’s normal I guess?’. I think Potty explained things pretty well above… +1 sir.

Most of the responses I see from their mods are ‘hey thanks for the feedback!’ style but not much seems to happen. Setting up forums these days isn’t rocket science so I don’t get it :(.

(fubar) #15

Yo Shifty, we need more reps in here.

Actually, you can. :frowning: The backend’s all there, really, all they need is to integrate a random forum of their choice.

Nobody is saying that this way is unfair. I think the point here is that it’s gone from good to bad (and potentially worse) since switching to Nexon.

(Protekt1) #17

My point was to show why they are doing it this way and that is because it is fair.

(Kl3ppy) #18

Is Walther White the new CEO of Nexon after quiting the Meth Business?

(potty200) #19

Just trowing this out ther ebut I have never received so much rep from a post. Is this a clear sign that we as a collective agree on the same thing? I disagree with a lot of points on the forums normally, as do many others. But this is a point I think we all agree on. But, you cannot agree with me right away. You need to give me 24 hours notice and only agree with me for 2 hours at a time

(Kl3ppy) #20

You got my +1 because you begged for it
