What i hate the most currently ? Hate is probably a too strong word, but i am unsatisfied with mainly:

slowdowns
viewbobbing
sound/bullets-fired missmatch

and the most probably

that i suck :stuck_out_tongue:

Well not that much, but i know for sure that in probably every game i have played so far, pros have no such clear advantage over me as they do in DB. Mostly i walk somewhere and i fall to the ground immediately. I mainly track that back to my lag and the hitregistration, which i think, gets even worse, the more lag i have. Sometimes it seems every 3rd or 4th clearly hitted shot actually registers, all other hits miss. I have that in no other game. I am usually never down K/D to around 25%, i am always around 50% the least, which i think is due to hits not registering. Just played on a full server and it is just way too impossible for me to match other, better players. Normally i can easily hold my line for a few secs, and then i am too lazy or do not want to focus that hard and so i loose in a more intense firefight. With that kind of attitude i make it to 50% K/D in almost every shooter i have played so far, even on pro servers like those in W:ET (etpro), easily.

I don’t hate it as much as I’m bummed by it, but the player count is absolutely killing me. It seems like people dropped money to help support this game, which is great, but no one is actually giving it the support it needs through playing it and finding every possible bug or glitch that we can.

Bought myself in the alpha, mainly to support Splashdamage. I barely play Dirty Bomb because I find it quite repetitive and thus boring to play at the moment.

I mean I did the same, but pre-release monetary support isn’t going to help them in the grand scheme of things. At the end of the day, what matters most is how many people this game attracts and the player-base it acquires over its life. If the game isn’t fixed up by those willing to support it now, it will show in both of those statistics later.

i think that’s because a large majority of the player base atm are comp players and they only care about the comp side of things they wont go around looking for bugs or if they do find an exploit they wont report it and keep abusing it over and over as I’ve seen a few of them do. there are only a handful of us that go bug finding or mapping issues

In addition:

the non-fluid movement (which is partly also slowdowns, but mainly the idea of acceleration modeled after rl)
running against all sorts of models in the map (they push you slightly up, down, back, but it does not feel good running against them, i think some call this ‘crampy’, but not sure what the english word on that is).

Also: you do not feel rewarded, you get no feedback (rarely, i reported some pretty annoying bugs back in the days and they were not even mentioned in the changelog, nor reported back on me that it was fixed) from the devs as you report a bug and also it does not seem attractive for most and there seems little mindset towards finding bugs in the community (only a few do care it seems), but it is actually quite an art to find bugs and can be really fun, even if these are just small to med ones :slight_smile: I for my part at least had my great fun, but never got the feeling it is important what i do or would be regarded as a contribution.

These aren’t thing that I “hate”, but just some things I wish were different.

  1. It’s not Enemy Territory :wink:
  2. I don’t like how you put the gun down when you run, it throws off my aim. Making this toggle-able would be amazing!
  3. Since you have to pick up speed when running, strafing quickly doesn’t help anything.
  4. I don’t like the aim down sights, and I don’t feel this conforms to the “new old school” feel they’re going for. (Yes I realize I don’t have to use it, but it would put me at a disadvantage)
  5. What I loved about ET was that your gun spread didn’t get wider as you shot. Your spread was one way if you were standing, another while crouching, and another while sprinting. Again with the “new old school” but its just kind of annoying.
  6. I don’t like the health regen for all classes, maybe a little for the medic. Otherwise it reduces the medic to just revives.
  7. Related, I don’t like the blue bar being your health. It makes it hard to see and I don’t want to search for it while in battle.
  8. This is probably going to be changed, but when you’re on the tank’s turret, the overheat bar is huge!

All this being said, I’m not giving credit to the amazing game that this is so far. With the amount of disappointments there’s a longer list of things I’m loving about the game. Probably not the best first post :confused:

I think its ET to a certain point. Basically its already the same imo.

The only thing that i hate are those big hands, on this big weapons (doesnt fit to high fovs) but i think fov adjustment is inc.^^
Aiming down sight feels like, you can use it, but you shouldnt^^
Recoil is really not even there way to easy to control, but the spread is kinda strange, you can control the weapon as steady as u want, but bullets will drop around like crazy…
What about no spread and kick up only?

Hey drfraggot, good to see you on the other side! The US side of games can be disappointing. I have organized a weekly Tuesday Night pickup game because of that. We use it as a time to get an actual full game w/ voice comm and we always post it to the devs to watch demos or use echo to gather stats. Often times our games lead to a discussion about a lot of the mechanics that are good/bad.

Things I currently dislike in DB:

  • Too high body damage on all weapons and too low headshot multiplier. Sniper and pistol might be ok.
  • Too high rate of fire
  • Slow strafe speed so dodging can’t be done properly
  • Too high spread and recoil on all weapons. I want those multiple headshots also when the guy is not at my face.
  • Mines and turrets need a quick arming time
  • Can’t turn off auto-reload, automatic “best” weapon switching or the huge gun model that blocks everything especially when reloading. Also the crosshair moves when reloading. I do understand that we need to test that weapon models work so we probably can’t hide them yet, but hoping that at some point we could have a toggle for it.
  • Soldier’s primary weapon should be secondary and vice versa.
  • One shot kills with shotgun (waiting for the patch)
  • Hold breath needs it’s own keybind
  • Enemy healthbars. Why add bushes to maps to block the view if I can just see the enemy through them? Hitsounds have always sort of done the same thing which is why I have never liked them.
  • It isn’t always clear if the enemy is gibbed or not
  • The new med pack system is great but the packs could maybe heal less
  • Fops artillery could last a bit less time. You have to remember that the problem in ET was that you could block a route infinitely with it, not that it would usually kill anyone.

So you want the guns to:

I’d like to keep rate of fire the same, reduce spread, reduce recoil on field-ops gun, increase head shot damage on all guns except sniper and pistol, and keep body shot damage the same.

i think when the spread is reduced shooting will be more accurate. recoil is already easy to control, the only thing i noticed, it feels sometimes random, u try to control the recoil, but the gun will still break out to the left or right despite really low recoil, especially ADS. I think whether there should be more recoil and lower spread (i think best solution) or there should be a higher spread. Personally i think some weapons should still feel and react like a real weapon.
body dmg fine, inc hs dmg +1
But when its more likely to do more hs, the consequence is reducing rate of fire. So weapons will feel more powerful imo. Otherwise some ppl wont be happy anymore^^ medic gun = cs AK with doubled RoF^^

EDIT: the next patch will enlight us all!
