Don’t get all butthurt because your ability is letting you down, maybe I should throw some magic your way so you can reach some measure of potential with the char. All I see is personal gripes with no meaningful reasons for why she’s bad, in fact all your reasons have been shot down in flames… Kendle did especially well putting you in your place about the poor medic part. Keep it up though, whine instead of valuable input is always welcome :rolleyes:

a- you dont play, please remove yourself. b- he didn’t shoot anyone down, it s a conversation. he’s the extreme minority imo

gotta love horrid washed up players that arent even playing the game they’re commenting on trying to chime in with half baked flames. Please read the posts, remove the panties that are bunched up, than comment. if you did that, you would see what was said, that she’s OP from a shootyshooty pewpew perspective, and useless as a medic. Go jump in a server for once with halfway decent players, and see how often you find yourself reviving with her. only outside of combat situations would you bother, and with 15 second respawns on most maps, there’s no reason even then.

I probably provided more constructive feedback in the past few days than you have in a few months, I guess you seem to think whining here = helping. I also have indepth discussions on IRC with a few of the devs and other players almost daily. I did ‘actual’ testing, discovered game-skewing bugs, PRIVATELY fed them back and purposely didn’t post them here so people won’t abuse it. If you see a single person on a server, probably me. So please, keep thinking you’re above other people when you’re probably far below the food chain… round about the shaft area.

I’ve been on games with Sparks players on both teams the past few nights, getting revived and killed quite often with Sparks… you weren’t there funnily enough, and here I thought you were constantly participating. Anyway yes, she is quite OP for shooting, but “useless” as a medic is far too strong a word given the reasons already stated (long revived inside the train car to complete the defuse is one example that springs to mind). I will agree that she seems to go against everything SD have been saying about medics, that they should be more support and less kill… using that mantra she doesn’t make sense, but removed from that she’s quite the combo. If you come out and use words like “useless”, and please look up the definition of the word, then sorry you’re getting called out on it whether you like it or not.

I get the “best medic” award every single round I play as Sparks, and it’s certainly not because I’m good at playing medic. I assume it’s based on the number of revives, so there’s that. It’s the easiest medic to revive with by far, and it’s very effective regardless of the low hp. You’re basically dead wrong on this point.

and you can get best support by getting 2 srty kills/giving out a few packs :stuck_out_tongue: that also doesn’t give you any detail on the quality of the revives. being revved, dying instantaneously and missing a spawn is the opposite of what you should be doing

this is constructive feedback and would’ve furthered the conversation instead of flame baits.

my entire point is that outside of shooting, i don’t see her as effective as any other med, maybe in conjunction, but not as the only med merc type. also as i have stated, imo it does go against the “mantra”

i live on the east coast so im generally not on until 7pm

Strangely enough I’ve been enjoying playing XT the last few nights, not entirely sure why.

Regarding Sparks I quite like the concept tbh. When SD first announced there was going to be a revive gun, and before that a self-reviving Medic, I was horrified, it didn’t “fit” my concept of an ET-esque game at all, but then it’s years since I’ve played ET so maybe I look at it from a greater distance than most people around here. And if someone had said there was going to be a Merc with a baseball bat as a melee weapon, and another with a sword of all things … I’d have laughed and said these things have no place in a serious FPS.

As it turns out however I quite enjoy these mercs. I still laugh at myself when someone nuts me from behind with a bat, I think the sword is hilarious, self-reviving turned out not to be anything like as big a deal as I expected, and the revive gun is a genius invention IMO. It all just needs to be balanced.

To balance Sparks I’d like to see the revive gun revive players to more health, it’s not a lot of point picking people up from a distance if they’re just going to instantly die again. I’d like to see the gun have an overheat mechanism so it kinda has a reload function, and I’d prefer a bit less damage or a slower ROF, but all these things can be tweaked I guess, I’m certainly not hating on the merc simply because my previous favourite game didn’t have such a thing.

The no.1 improvement in this patch for me however … the headshot “ding” is back! Can’t tell you how much I missed that. Now just give me back a 'nade and I’ll be seriously happy. Oh and fix the maps … and add forward spawns … and a proper wave spawn system on Obj … and selectable spawns … and more doc runs … and, well, I guess there’s still a ways to go yet. :slight_smile:

Random thoughts on sparks and associated playstyles:

While its a clever way to offer teams the strategy of mass revive pushing power, without needing to run multiple medics, I think for that to be really the case, the revive needs to add more health.

Alternatively, you can pair it up with the healing station medic, but then youre playing two medics that will get crushed vs (soldier/fops etc) when Sparks is played in “revive lemming mode”…

I think in terms of overall potential however, its better suited for rambo…

You dont have to give up area control on a revive anymore, you can pre-pack with chunk med-packs for instant health boost, and your team doesnt lose out in damage output compared to the other sparks style.

This is the main problem - was getting stuck in a rev/death chain last night, at least have some kind of revive shield (which is still virtually non-existant) - is there one at all for the revivr?

I believe its a 100% rev shield now, but disappears if you shoot, doesnt last very long, and doesnt lock you into place like rtcw/et

I know SD said they were going to add a 1.5 revive shield but I dont think they did yet… At least I havent seen it but they said they were.

Just add gibs to the scoreboard, and add a percentage damage bonus to your kill assist points. With a damage output %, for each team player also on the board. I would also have a seperate score for class team actions and fagging. So player X might have 23 kills but a lower damage output, but has a higher team action score. I would also like to have the winning team get a x2 score bonus, this should encourage more selfless play. Mind you some of the mentality of the pro players hear, is to have a higher personal score. Then delaying the other team with there life, so a objective can detonate and the map can progress.

I have been looking for it but I guess i haven’t noticed it because its not actually doing anything. I think the 1.5 starts to soon if indeed it is on this patch. NEED more people to test! No one was on again last night so hard to remember and test these things from 20 minutes of playing.
