The revive problem

(Rex) #1

What I’ve watched now for a quite long time is medics having massive problems to revive their team mates. It happens very often that the defi fails to connect with the dead body and this applies to more skilled/experienced players as well as to beginners.

Always when I was lying on the ground crying for a medic, seeing him finally arriving but then getting shot down shortly before because he failed to revive, made me really mad. Until I played medic myself and also failed to revive sometimes.

There is something wrong with the defi action, I’m just not sure what exactly it is.

yeah happend once a while we have to retry few time

(fzl) #3

you have to crouch when you use the defi…soz guys i have no problems with this…

btw i play with sprint fov on!

(DB Genome editor) #4

Like fzl said, crouching works every time for me. Of course it’s a bit more risky than a hit and run revive…

(rookie1) #5

I mostly crouch when I revive someone …even there sometime it doesnt work the first time ,you have to take the good trigger spot I guest

(Brinkman) #6

i’ve noticed a few times when a body has a heart on it and they cant be revived.

Not sure how to recreate it unfortunately .

ive never had an issue at all. if anything the revive box is too big. you can rev someone without really being near them, but im also a beastly med in etpro. you have to crouch and get as close to the chest as possible.

my only real issue is the lack of a good revive shield. there’s no point to revving in a firefight

(Rex) #8

lol, “beastly med in etpro” has nothing to do with Xt, but ok if you have no problems fine.

Waiting for more opinions.

(shaftz0r) #9

its almost the same dynamic, so yes it does have a lot to do with it.

(Glottis-3D) #10

it did happen to me as well, and im used to crouch-revive since etqw. i actually thought it had something to do with my ping and overal lags.

(Kl3ppy) #11

Happen me too. Sometimes I even needed 3 or 4 attemps to revive even tho it appears that I’m almost standing on the merc I want to revive.

(Runeforce) #12

I feel it too. (I’m sure all ETQW players do.) The revive area could be a bit bigger and not as nit-picky about where I look.

(ailmanki) #13

Can confîrm this too, also looks like the revive is not happening on click but a little later -. like nade launcher. Which makes reviving even harder in firefights.
Also would be cool if the medic would not start to repair, when using the very smart button.

(Finko) #14

Personaly i don’t have problems with revives, but i saw many times how other guys fails with it, so, probably, problem exist.

(mazesc) #15

I fail from time to time, but I always know why I do. I think the mechanics are fine. You have to aim at the corpse and I always crouch when reviving. Works well.

(Finko) #16

Approve this

It’s definitely not as easy and intuitive and new players are definitely struggling with this.

I started to have greater success when crouching whilst reviving.

But there is also the problem that after clicking to revive the revive doesn’t trigger until after the arms have reached full extension and almost when they start to bend again. This is very slow/late for players to grasp and they’ve often panned back up to the horizon by the time it triggers, long after clicking the button.

Also it doesn’t work sometimes when you look down at a ~45ish degree angle, you have to virtually look straight down at the floor.

Everytime it fails definitely feels like a game WTF rather than a mistake on my part.

I also use crouch and it is fine BUT when your mate lies inside of corpses it can be nearly impossible to revive him without being killed.

(Smooth) #19

Currently I think both corpses and friendly team-mates are blocking revives when they shouldn’t.

The latter should be fixed in the next update, I’m not sure about corpses though.

I will ask QA to investigate.

Right, gibbing with the defib instead of reviving is an issue.

And Mustang, you’re right that the timing has to be right, but I like some of these more organic feeling actions in the game, rather than dumbed-down button-clicking. Of course it has to be consistent, but I think it is, to be honest.
