There have been a lot more whining on the SD server the last couple of months, but not by the regulars (with a few exceptions ).
I’ve practically stopped playing there; not because of the whining, but because it’s so “unsmooth” (don’t know a better word to describe it) compared to all other servers I play on. This may be caused by my connection to the server (though my ping is as good to SD as to most other servers), the server config, the fact that there’s more players on SD (usually 20-22) than on my other servers, or the fact that it’s etmain. I’m guessing it’s a combination.
SD is probably the ET server I’ve had the most fun on (GGs everyone), but with the increasing difference between etmain and etpro I have a hard time motivating myself to play there these days. Not that anyone will miss me…

The fact its still etmain is hilarious too… ET would be dead if it wasn’t for what Bani has did to this day… it’d be same situation as RTCW with only shrub servers running and 2/3 osp servers for teh pr0gam0rs.
Um pgh, far as I know there are still quite a few OSP servers for RtCW 1.41 - btw, the game has gone full circle now. There are probably more 1.0 / 1.1 servers in circulation than the patched versions and the standard of play has got much better. I also see that many clans developed and are active in the ‘vanilla’ 1.0 / 1.1 scene.

Great Piggy… ta. Im quite clearly stating what I think and feel has happened to the server and tbh your reply to this alone shows how ignorant some of the players are. And at a personal dig, and nothing relating to the fact I had some good games with the q3f lads, the rest of eQ has simply gone down this road too.
Its funny. I have been playing on that server since day one when myself, bobbles and mars was testing it on the Fueldump test and have been there ever since. If its bullshit then why would I be the only person too notice it? Whine? Flame? Ooo so I rip the piss out of B5K and now its named this? :] And its not my problem if people get wound up by me… maybe they just gotta chill and quit being uptight or stuck in the own little fantasy world… eh NoSoup?
Ironic. ‘Thank god some servers are still running it.’ The fact that the number of servers of ETMain to ETPro/Shrub is hilarious and you just totally contradicted yourself there? These things that ‘bother’ you kinda also shows you dont bother to what, RTFM? I fail to see how again out of the 3 things you mention… you can feel this is what is wrong with ETPro… afterall, if you do RTFM then youll notice they can all be turned off. Standard ETPro servers around 90% of em run Public configs so things like the Alt Map scripts aint on.
Im glad for you - and the fact i’ve never actually seen you on the server, or at least, to which my memory serves. Im sure you feel the same way and im happy to keep it this way…
As for bani. Bani and his team are the ones who are behind ETPro, BayonET, ETTV atm and have helped several others on there work with ET or related items. If there was no ETPro there would be no competetive side to ET and as it is clearly so obvious that nearly half of players are teamed or clanned they wouldnt be here if ETPro wasnt about. This already shows the number of players atm would have at least halfd… then minus the number of RTCW/Q3 players who came over for the fun of decent clan wars and whoever downloaded ET from coverage sites after reading about things on say, ESR or CB. So, i’ll stand by my thoughts that if ETPro wasnt released and played ET therefore = dead; where dead = current state RTCW is in.

Must admit tho… still get the odd decent game on some OSP Euro servers with latest RTCW but its a tiny bit compared to what I used to get out of ET… christ, even q3ctfpickup is more popular than whats left of the WHOLE RTCW community.

Erm, the fact is, hitsounds, announcer sounds and the mine sound are all features implemented either because they were successful in other competitive games. (Quake 3 Hitsounds + Announcer for example)
Other features are in because it is what the comp players have requested or asked for to go in. Public configs the alt map scripts are off but when Clanbase/RTCW.No is exec they are loaded… as its a competetive mod and all these things are included for that reason then they should infact be ON by default. This is one reason why there are the simple /ref config commands so it can be easily modified and the gameplay can be changed in < 5 seconds if required or wanted.
And what stuff? Could be anything from the changed fireteam layout to the changed replay menu size…
The hitsounds i love, as you know pgh, i like my burst shooting.
Some of the sounds i dont like, i hate the mine place sound, thats just personal preference. Personally, its clanbase i have my dig with, as they have some of the most stupid server configs ever. In general, i DO like etpro, although it does crash my computer at times :(.
Its not me with the problem… im always the same person in whatever situation and never flare a temper or go of ranting (ok ok, at times…) and always the same old cocky me… its when people dont like this that they start to flare up and rant of as if the worls gonna end taking every dig they can.

Landmine sounds, goat backstab sound, silly announcer voice, just the small things. To me it seems like bani ran out of bugs to fix and started adding random stuff… “ooh this look cool let’s add it!”.

Ah yeh… Savage League wasn’t asked about their opinion on new etpro features… which is a bit odd since it’s the biggest et league in europe afaik.
My point is that they could do like all other leagues and contact him. Be a little proactive.
I know that a lot of european clan players have been giving Bani feedback and suggestions for a long time, and the fact that the Clanbase config was included proves that he does have contact with Euro leagues (and I know Clanbase isn’t the only one).
Btw, what makes Savage the biggest Euro ET league? I don’t know all leagues and cups, but a quick look shows that at least Rtcw.no is bigger (twice as many teams).
There doesn’t seem to be more than a handful non-UK clans in Savage either, so maybe it would be more correct to call it the biggest league in the UK .
