So I recently watched Hard Boiled (the John Woo movie with Chow Yun-Fat) and it had me wonder if a Merc with dual pistols (with double the pistol ammo) would be a viable replacement to having a primary weapon. There would be obvious draw backs such as the inability to switch to your secondary expecting a fresh magazine and the reload time would be twice as long as reloading a pistol (maybe a little less).
The Prospect of Dual Pistols
It could be okay, and even overpowered as you would get twice the ammo and soak up bullets twice as fast (technically). It’ll need some limitation, but it could be something to give to a merc as a special ability or something.
Dual pistols in Counter-Strike shows that it’ll work. No reason to believe it wouldn’t.
It’s not as much as I think they wouldn’t be viable, but I just don’t think it fits into the current game mind frame of aim and skill coming before pray and spraying.
If both pistols retain their initial accuracy of course, then it just becomes too OP in comparison to a single pistol, it’s a 100% increase in DPS. And if the dual wield gets some sort of precision nerf, then it just spoils the point of dual wielding anyway.
Maybe only as a merc ability with the retaining of all stats, just double the amount of pistols as suggested by Eox, otherwise no thanks.
GDI I voted wrong!
I’d want dual pistiols so I can feel like I’m in a John Woo movie.

Well the initial idea was to have it as replacement primary for a merc (that might be slightly more insane than Phantom).
I feel like dual pistols should be introduced as their own weapon instead of smashing two existing ones together. Makes balancing easier since you can just set all the values instead of trying to modify existing ones.
Maybe dual pistols could work similarly to the Blishlok, having a slower ROF while retaining more damage and being better at mid-long ranges. I could definitely see dual pistols having a low magazine size as well, and relying on kind of a burst damage with a lot of reloading needed.
All in all, dual pistols need to be a thing!

Still, what is then the secondary of that merc supposed to be? Will he/she have three pistols, two wielding as primary and one as secondary?
Also, as much as some people hate ADS, it becomes very useful at longer ranges to get that higher precision. Dual wield wouldn’t allow for it (unless you would ADS with only one pistol?) so that would basically render the merc unviable at long to medium ranges… Who would play that?

The “Primary” is pulling out two of the secondary. It uses the same ammo as the secondary weapon. The secondary is just one pistol. As for ADS, you would still be able to ADS, when you fire it just alternates between the two guns.
I’m sorry, did you just say Dual Berettas are viable?
I said dual pistols would work. Viability is a different issue. Whether or not something IS viable and whether or not it could be viable are two totally different things.

It says there: something working = viable…

Seriously, Dual Elites/Berettas fucking suck.

Dual Baguettes are clearly overpowered cause you fire two guns at once
kappa
i totally agree with you
I think duel wield pistols would work in this game, especially with the accuracy system. plus, it’s a video game, they could just make them work
