The 'picking up smg' bug

I HATE that bug. :bash:

For those nitwits who doesn’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the bug in which you’re out of smg ammo, and you try to pick up an enemy smg from the ground, but it won’t work. Sometimes, it works when I try from different angles.

Any workarounds, of some kind? :expressionless:

As far as I’m aware that bug has long since been fixed, either in ETPro or the 1.02 patch even. If I remember correctly it was something to do with the variable that contains client settings getting screwed up and resending it cured it. By resending I mean changing the value of a cl_ cvar, so a bind like this should do it:-

bind x “cl_activate 0; cl_activate 1”

Could be thinking of something else entirely mind :frowning:

I think I know what he’s talking about and I still have a problem with it. For example I have problems picking up smgs when they half of them are ‘inside’ a wall whilst lying on the floor. Sometimes I have the problem of picking them up when a body is still on top of them but this one much less often.

Yeah…its annoying. Another long standing problem is radar default respawn at villa when the cp is blown. Wonder why no one ever fixed that?

You may be thinking of the auto reload/auto pickup bug, but this problem is when you try to pick up a different SMG than the one you’re carrying.

If you find a second enemy SMG somewhere else you can usually go back and “auto pickup” the first one without a problem.

smg bug is alive and well. it cost me my life the other day on a etpro 3.1.0 server as i was fumbling around trying to pick up a tommygun so i could continue raging the allies faces:P

it may have been a coincidence, but i (and the tommygun) was next to the tank, and at the time i wondered if perhaps the game was confused as to whether i wanted to pick up the gun or get on the tank.

dunno but it sucks when it happens.

Ah! Can’t say I’ve been affected then, and I pick up SMGs all the time, you have to when you’re Med. :wink:

It’s probably NOT a coincidence, because I can clearly remember two incidents in which this has happened, and both was right next to the tank on Fueldump. Someone with the proper skill and knowledge should look into this.

yeah, shooting a few times, running away and pak whoring before coming back to shoot a few times again is expensive with ammo

Think thats the medpack bug that used to go about alot Kendle. Afaik didnt realise it affected the pickup of SMG’s too or was this another seperate bug?
