90% of the time you end up giving yourself the ammo or health that’s meant for your teammates :banghead:
The pack throwing in ET absolutely stinks
That is a true problem. It makes the game less friendly for new players, depriving them of a safe way to help their team they learn the maps.
Experienced players are able to crouch or aim up when throwing a pack, but newbies don’t know this. If you call for ammo and a newbie FieldOp comes up, its a chance for him to get some XP without risking a TK with badly placed arty. But then usually he eats two packs when trying to throw, and is out of powerbar…
no XP for him.
Well, normally if you look up or crouch and such you will give out the ammo, but if somebody who called for ammo is too close to you, it doesn’t matter which way you look unless you turn around. If they’re too close to you you’re going to give yourself the ammo/health packs which is extremely annoying. What’s more so is when someone is too close to me and I back up a little bit and they get right in my face again. Hello? I’m not going anywhere, hold the f*ck on, you don’t have to be up my ass to get the packs.
Keeping your distance helps with getting the pack out of your hitbox so other people can grab it.
If a newish Field Ops wants to give you ammo, take a step away from him after you see him pull out the pack. He’ll probably stay still and just dish out the goods instead of running up to you again, especially if you just move a step or two.
If someone is running up to you, just turn to the side and throw the packs that way. You can keep alternating sides to make sure they get out. It might look annoying to the other guy, but atleast he’s getting his ammo.
You can also do a key bind. This is hit or miss depending on if the other guy is actually looking at the chat window.

When giving health I usually do one of two things.
-
Wounded is asking for it: I walk back towards closest cover while giving packets. This also solves my problem of people not covering us while receiving ammo/health.
-
Wounded is not aware of medic: Give first packet at correct distance. If he moves towards medic, read first method, else repeat second method. (and pray he keeps covering and doesn’t turn towards medic for some unknown human behaviour).
yea i tried to give medic pack to a really injured teammate but it just bumped into me self…
and i couldn’t tk revive cuz there was no FF
