The next COMFPS w/vehicles

Ok COMFPS (class/objective based multiplayer first person shooter) my acronymn… Is there another?

Obviously BRINK is the next big game coming out the even attempts to duplicate ETQWs great gameplay, and adds a few new twists that look promising (SMART, Character Customization, and SP/Co-op/MP blending). But it looks like its departing from 2 elements of ETQW that were pretty grounding breaking in their own right, Assymetric Teams and Vehicles.

Are there any plans to get back to a COMFPS that incorprates these features? Has anyone heard of any other developers out there doing the same?

Top of my head I can think of a short list:

Savage 2 (not objective based and vehicles are seige engine types)
Bad Company 2 (also not objective based and teams are symetrical)
Global Agenda (symetrical teams)
Borderlands (dunno much about this one, I need to try it out)

Any others?

COMPFPSBRINKETQW DLC helps ?
and/or cofee?

IMO, no serious competitions for ETQW on market, and enumerated[in you post]titles are differently targeted/made/played.
and talking about competition, i can see really/surely different approach here too.
answering about titles opinions i can advise try FuelOfWars[weak modelling and some other minor flaws], Arma2 and yes, Borderlands are okay[especially if you Oblivion/Fallout3 fan].

ETQW community has amazing teamwork. ETQW is great not just for being a good game, but, because the community that plays it. So, that makes the game extra special.

I don’t think there will be another good game like ETQW for awhile because of this. Also, many games are going the route these days that winning isn’t that great of a thing. MW for example, no one cares who wins a deathmatch. BFBC2 is similar as players really don’t treat winning as that important. Its a reoccurring theme and because of that there won’t be another ETQW for awhile. Perhaps the new Arma game that might thrive on a competitive spirit, but, I haven’t really looked at its progress in awhile.

ARMA 2… I will check that out. Although ARMA/Operation Flashpoint/Ravenshield types are all about realistic combat sim, not fun gameplay IMO.

Mud your obsevation on “winning” is something I haven’t realized first hand. (Ive been on an extended break from FPSs for the last year). But I watch my boys playing MW2 a lot and have to agree.

/holds breath for ETQWs Expansion, Map pack, or SD to get control from Id/Activison.

I was talking about Arma 3 I think. The upcoming one I don’t really know. I played arma 2 I think awhile ago and I couldn’t get into it. The process if I remember of actually getting it setup correctly to play is very annoyingly difficult as well. AA3

I got the games mixed up, I meant AA3 not Arma 3.

You know what, nevermind I said anything. I don’t know what I am talking about.

I get the feeling that some ETQW veterans never played W:ET in its heyday…it also had awesome communities of top notch team players. It was the first game where I felt that you HAD to have a good team, or else you were hosed. ETQW expanded on that, adding more class roles, but the asymmetry and vehicles were always a tad awkward, IMO, for a game that stresses objectives at choke points, in general. Both Enemy Territory games fostered awesome teamwork, and I expect that Brink will develop its own crack squads and awesome communities, as well…
