Thats why I still think people should have tested etqw’s promod :wink: With basically a ton of options to setup everything the way you want, heck you could even do a plain vanilla setup iirc (except maybe for the vehicle spawntime, I dont remember).

Usually people who complain about how it removes stuffs from the game are people that almost never tested promod, you need to try it first, the level is usually quite higher so many ragequit, but its becoming cool once you’re accustomed to it.

Regarding the BC2 “promod” (wont talk bout CoD as I dont play this game), yeah I’ll agree that removing revives medpack ammo pack etc… can seems plain stupid and YES it removes some strong aspects of the game, but dont you think that if these packs werent overpowered in the first place (yeah I’ll camp that healthpack for ages), and the same apply with the infinite medic chain revive, the promod guy would have kept them?

I’ll agree that they could have tryed to fix these mechanics rather than remove them completely… But I’m not sure they got that many access on the source code to do it.

To sum it up and as Bridger said: if the game is broken in the first place (hear some overpowered features), the “promod” of this game will be indeed broken and frustrating, ETQW is the perfect exemple of the contrary (IMO), with the promod changing just some minors stuffs, all the major changes came from restrictions in classes / weapons / vehicles / turrets to adapt the game for a smaller number of players.

Just a question then : are there any vehicle and turret in ETQW’s promod ?

Yes if you play 6V6, one heavy vehicles per team + one medium (trojan for exemple) + the lights, one turret type per engi (you can have one APT and one AVT but not 2 AVT for exemple), you can also have 3 mines per engi, one rocket launcher and one gpmg for exemple, one sniper etc etc the only real removal are the flyers, because they can easily dominate one entire team by themselves.

As said the restrictions are “drastic” only when you play 4on4, because in this case the heavies (titan / cyclop) are really a pain in the ass to deal with, and if you play versus 4 hyperblaster inside it’s gettin really hard to do something (assuming the 4 hyperblasters know how to play indeed). And even here some people wont agree with me, as even in promod hb still got a big spread so you can take them down relatively easily if you aim for the head and play the mobitlity VS weapon power (ie : you straf jump them and dodge their sight as they are slower than you with an heavy weapon)

The only thing that is a real change is that the spread from the weapons is reduced, this make the firefight more “intense” as you really hit what you aim, and you dont do lucky headshot while aiming at the feet for exemple, you kill faster if you know how to aim, but you also die faster.

Then join the competitive community and lobby against it. That’s what I plan to do :).

I didn’t play too much in the W:ET competitive community but I don’t recall it having changed the game by a large degree.

I am almost always against direct limiting of resources. It feels like a cop-out when it comes to balancing something (but often the only/easiest way for competitive communities to go). If something is so powerful that it needs to be limited to keep the game interesting, increase the cost or reduce it’s effectiveness. Don’t just say “OK, you can have this really awesome class/vehicle/weapon but ONLY 2 OF THEM!”
