The Grandeur?

(modernBlast) #21

I started using the BR 16. I headshot Vasilli with hipfire from across the map in Chapel. Given that this is prolly one of the longest range engagements I wonder if ADS has any use at all?

(Frogteam) #22

Guns like the Dreiss lose accuracy quickly when fired at the full rate of fire. If you ADS and fire at full speed you get no spread, you just need to compensate for your aim kicking up.

I love that weapon but i really feel gimped when i use it and for a long time i couldnt figure out why or how to fix it but now i finally know. Dont buff it in any way but give it a goddamn red dot sight or something similiar.

The ironsights are so goddamn obstructive its a pain in the ass to aim at anything, esspecially beyond first shot without waiting for years for it to stabilise. Dreiss has very clean sights so leading shots is way easier.

would love a red dot; and it fits RedEye’s style!

So mainly I see that people would appreciate better hipfire and a better scope.
You’re right, @Canucck , reducing it one damage reflects a lot on gameplay.

(Canucck) #26

The half damage thing seems a lot worse since the patch. Sometimes I see it doing 20dmg on body shots multiple times a row now. Happens a lot when hitting turrets too

(Kirstµ) #27

Unfortunately in the most recent dev stream, they stated the Grandeur was “in a decent spot” and had no plans on changing it. :confounded: What this means, it’s probably going to take a long time to get buffed, or it just won’t at all. i cri evrytiem

(VincentRJaeger) #28

Yeah, guess I will have to stick with the Dreiss for a long time : / - Shame, because I really love the Grandeur more than the Dreiss in terms of how it looks.

(Bottlecaps) #29

I think he is underplayed, but he’s still my fav. He’s hard to use for sure. I like the Grandeur but it can be inconsistent for me personally.

(TheOrangePhantome) #30

Well i still use him from time to time. But i don’t use the grandeur and i may try and craft a grandeur loudout.

(Fate_6) #31

Devs saying Grandeur is fine was probably the most ridiculous and heartbreaking thing I’ve heard from them yet. It’s almost on par with the terrible melee turn speed change. I’d love to know what statistics suggest that the Grandeur is even remotely playable let alone viable

(Bottlecaps) #32

Yeah, it’s hard to use,not going to lie.

(Grave_Knight) #33

The only thing I really want to see changed about the Grandeur is giving it a non-magnifying sight. Either a reflector sight or a holographic sight. Something that makes accurate aiming a bit easier than some old 20th century iron sight. Come on, the guy has a cybernetic eye and he can’t put a sight on his gun from this century?

(Mr.Dubstab) #34

This… You made me look at his eye very differently. I feel like you’re right.

I put in some time last night with RedEye and the Grandeur for the first time since release. I felt like I needed a bit more experience to formulate an opinion on him and the weapon. I played a ton of games (and the video below is my very first so it’s sloppy) and I’ve kind of come around to RedEye.

At first I wasn’t using the smoke all that wall (kept screwing up which button was IR and which was smoke) but as I played more maps I was finding out how good it is to force the other team to move forward out of comfort spots. Smoking off the area under the stairs where the EV parks on Chapel for example or the stairway area of trainyard. I also started using IR in short spurts to put a tracker on people for myself and the team to use. So that was pretty cool. And the smoke is probably large enough now to be useful but I still wouldn’t mind see it be about 10% bigger.

With that said I spent all night playing with the Grandeur. When I was first playing with RedEye and the Grandeur I hated the sights. Just hated them. I also didn’t like how hipfire seemed to be accurate one second and then awful the next despite me being pretty proficient with the dreiss. But as maps passed last night I started getting into the swing of things. I was a bit more confident in going headhunting with it, was firing it a bit faster and the short to medium ranged fights were going in my favor a lot more often via hipfire. So despite me still not really liking the sights I’m starting to get used to the gun and how it works and at what ranges I can use it effectively. It now feels, to me, like a harder to use PDP but with the added advantage of being able to hipfire it with more reliability and less reliance on ADS which allows you to be even more mobile than you can be with a PDP…almost to the point of being like a Dreiss.

I’m going to give it more time but right now, at least in a pub sense, the Grandeur seems pretty OK but has a high skill ceiling and completely different requirements when it comes to tracking via ADS and via hipfire. I’m not sold on 5v5 viability yet compared to using a PDP though.

Also, whatever pistol I was using I had never used before in DB and that thing was weird but powerful. I think it’s a Cauldon (using G75 loadout) but can’t look it up right now. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever used it before last night.

Oh, and F the Kukri. Seriously, that thing is awful.

(VincentRJaeger) #36

@Amerika G75 has the Caulden indeed. Considered one of the worse pistols afaik, but I love it personally : P The machete is god-awful too, yeah. The way to hit it is weird, as the enemy kind of has to be to the upper-right area of your screen for it to actually hit and that’s just stupid.

(Amerika) #37

Yeah, I actually got pretty used to how the Caulden worked. I felt that if I got even one headshot with it I pretty much had won that fight. It ran out of ammo super fast but it reloaded quickly and I normally didn’t need any more than the one mag in most 1v1 fights. If it had two more bullets in the mag I’d consider it the best pistol in the game.

(Frogteam) #38

Yeah, I’ve been trying out the Grandeur exclusively for the past week, attempting to get used to it. I’m at the point where I’m getting reliably high KDs with it, and feel pretty confident engaging with it, but I’m not at the point where I feel like I’m doing better with it than I would have done with the Dreiss.

Caulden has always been my favorite pistol though, especially with the newer sound.

ive been playing grandeur through multiple iterations and it always feels like this hit&miss gun. There will be great moments when a random hipfire hs puts an enemy down, or a few good hits getting you a streak. But for every one of those there will be those moments where you don’t get a single hit in, while the opponent reks your face.

(watsyurdeal) #40

Like I said in another thread, the Grandeur just needs that first shot accuracy to be better. The recoil and bloom will prevent it from being too spammy, but the first shot accuracy needs to be good enough to hit a Vasilli in the head from one end of the street to the other on Chapel.

That’s just my opinion though.
