The god forsaken pf's keep annoying me!

I realize the topic has been discussed a lot here, but I just cant stand the way panzerfaust is designed.

The most pissin off moments are, when i run directly in a pf soldat in a corridor or some other narrow room. Usually he is able to launch before I take em down, killing us both, aaargh (and, hopefully, some of his teammates nearby :wink:) And even more annoying thing, when he says “great shot” after that, damn, and he’s happy like he scored for the first time.

So i got few proposals to help balancing this wep:

[ul]Make the projectile arm after certain ammount of distance travelled (for user’s safety :wink: )
make launch time last longer.
decrease projectile travel speed.
decrease number of projectiles that can be carried
pf was an anti-armor wep, so it was not so effective against personnel (i know et is not about realism) so decrease the blast radius.

these are just ideas, implementing all of them would make pf’s nearly useless, but the first is a must.

PF is fine as it is!

Sure it will kill you always on close one-on-one fights, but that is only realistic.

Besides PF soldiers can not provide anything to the team, except one suicide bombing here and there, so it really helps no-one.

But, let the n00bs be.

Besides PF is now balnced when measuring it by it´s actual mission: Disabling vehicles.

Making it lousier would only make ET less fun.

Oh and in case you are wondering: No I do not use PF, I play covop or engy, as I want to fulfill the missions instead of “fragging”.

The ironic thing is that the panzerfaust is an anti-tank weapon and it’s useless at taking out the tank in ET! :wink:

Personally I think the PF is nice, it’s a risk when new players get it sure, but they either learn or usually tend to get kicked, and when a skilled player has it it can be really lethal to get past, especially if he has a friendly FO to resupply him from time to time.

In regards to taking out a tank, well either you have some backup from friends with nades (or you switch to that yourself after the shot) or if you’re a higher level pf-soldier you can fire several shots rapidly, so I don’t have any problem taking out a tank :wink:

In fact, I hardly seen pf used for disabling vehicles.
Maybe once or twice, by an accident.

Not. A real PF isn’t even armed until it’s been flying for 1/6 second. Shooting it at a wall 10 feet away won’t even explode.

Besides PF is now balnced when measuring it by it´s actual mission: Disabling vehicles.

LOL, PF sucks for killing vehicles. You gonna spent 40 seconds to put 3 rockets into a tank? Or 5 seconds for the airstrike to come? Even throwing 5 grenades on it is faster than waiting for PF to recharge.

The actual mission of PF is to kill people who are behind solid cover.

Oh man you are one of those so called “specialists”! Well tell me mister EXPERT, did the allies use Panzershrecks or Panzerfausts in reallife?

So if we add more realism, which is your goal obviously, we should give the allies bazookas and therefore we need a new class “Bazooka reloaders”, whose only task is to run around the operator of the bazooka and insert the shell into bazooka when needed.

Yeah thank you so much for your expertise, but I think we will not blindly add realism over gameplay. So STFU!!!

One of my friends actually thinks the fire delay should be removed from the panzerfaust… I tried to be beat some sense into him but it didn’t seem to do anything.

Anyway, I kind of like the idea of the minimum range for the panzer. As it is, the panzerfaust is an incredibly aggravating weapon. A bit ago, I was playing a game where the enemy had two panzer soldiers. They weren’t exactly any good, but they would kill you pretty much every time (as well as themselves). So you would respawn, run all the way across the map, run into one of these fuckers, and he would suicide on you. It was quite weird because I had played for a month or so without running into any panzers…

Anyway, I like minimum range idea

Amazing how lousy players want the game hobbled so much, all ya need to do is to learn how to get around difficulty and you wont have a prob with alot of the weapons. Maybe you can learn to use the PF long recharging time as an advantage. Other than that dont mess with the game, it’s fine the way it is.

Hmmm… as usual Jahuu I’ll have to disagree with you here. PF soldiers can provide lots to a team, by taking out mass quantities of the opposing team, thus putting them into limbo. You can’t win if you’re not alive.

PF plays a pretty large role in matches and such when the teams are limited to about 7 players. If one panzer can take out 2 or more players that instantly puts the favor in your team to win the upcoming battle because your team outnumbers them.

I remember seeing the PF @ discovery… afaik it was a 1 shot weapon… cheap to build & easy to operate…

If you get good at headshots, you should be able to take him down a large percentage of the time using an SMG.

Since the chances of splashdamage rebalancing any of the weapons is essentially nil, you may as well get used to it.

Of course, there might be a mod someday which changes the PF :smiley:

Maybe we should put an age limit of 11+ to post on the forums that should stop the use of the language.
