The German Xbox 360 Version Freezes

(Spez) #1

Hi there!

I got my german console version of Brink surprisingly early (did not expect that) and im encountering a problem everytime i play it:

After a while the game just locks up my Xbox 360. The picture freezes and i have to manually reboot the system. I talked to a lot of people i played with last night and at least eleven of them said they are encountering the same gamebreaking bug. (This happens usually after 20 to 30 minutes of play.)

(Im owner of an old 360 AND i own one of the new slim consoles. I installed brink on both and had the same problem on both consoles.)

This may just be a problem with the german 360 version, but i would like to know if this problem is already known to exist and if it will be fixed with the day one patch we will hopefully receive on the official release day.

As it is now the game i payed 60€ for is pretty much unplayable.

If this is the wrong place to ask such questions ill try to contact bethesda customer support but my experiences with bethesda support are disappointing at best, so i’ll first try it here.

I plan on playing Brink for a long time so ill probably stick around here for a while.

Day 1 Patch confirmed.

yeah this is why you dont play the game ahead of time, theres like a 500 meg day 1 patch

dont break release date illegally then cry when it doesnt work perfectly

500mb? What? Source please.

(kratier) #5

use google or are you too lazy to do that too

(SIR WOLFIE 87) #6

Nowhere do they mention the size of the patch. 500mb for some texture problems? Come on.

The day 1 title update is absolutely nowhere near 500MB. Microsoft allows updates to be 4MB at most (and possibly up to 8MB in exceptional circumstances.) The Brink update is comfortably under that 4MB limit.

The renderer is messed up, makes everything to blurry. There are apparently game-breaking freezes. I’d guess that a day-1 patch might fix those things.

EDIT: Woah, wait. MS only allows 4MB? How come on cross-platform games, on PS3 I’m always downloading 1000MB updates?

But is a number really a word?

If so, then go on and nevermind this post :o

This is a good question actually, every game i update on the PS3 contains a minimum of ~200mb for some small changes.

Looks like i got my “day one update” already then, after starting it for the first time the game loaded an auto update of 3 Megs from live. Thought this was one of those copy protection updates…

Yeah i was like “maybe i misread it and he said GB” but nope. When i had to do the big BFBC2 patch it was like 500MB.

(Linsolv) #13

The BFBC2 patch was bigger than that, I believe, on PS3. Just had to reinstall it like 2 days ago, took 4 hours. I think it was over 1000.

Admittedly, most patches aren’t REALLY that big, usually they’re in the realm of 100-500 MB, but…

(DazTroyer) #14

How come everyone is worried about the size of the patch, surely the fact that the game locks up and needs a restart is far more disturbing. :frowning:

(kratier) #15

steam had a 460 meg update ontop of the finished preloaded version of brink

dont really care about XBL i know they charge money for any sort of decent sized patch

and people care because bigger patch = more issues fixed on release day

(Linsolv) #16

I care because “wtf u mean 4MB.” I can barely get a photograph below that.

(Herandar) #17

“Title Updates” are 4 MB max, and they are required to play a game on Live. True patches are voluntary, and can be much larger. (My only experience with them is with BFBC2.)

(Spez) #18

I wouldn’t be too surprised if this bug only occures in the german version.
Despite the game being REALLY GOOD IMHO the german translation is god awful and seems rushed. In fact its so bad that i ordered the game a second time from england just to be able to watch the story sequences between missions without breaking into laughter.
(The version currently sold in germany includes only two languages: French and German.)

Are you going to release the patch notes to the general public, if so when. Also when is this patch being released (time and date) - I take it will be before midnight on Tomorrow?

Microsoft only allow a certain number of patches to given to any title released (sorry I don’t have a source to hand but it is well documented. Team fortress 2 suffered because of this and is now in a nearly unplayable state on the Xbox with nothing Valve can do about it). Do you think this might become a problem for you in the future?

For all the I don’t care this is the Xbox version not PC members out there - This could affect you as if the sales for Brink on the consoles is poor then it might hinder Splash Damage’s ability to support this IP post release. Also if it was not a multi-platform release I very much doubt this IP would have even been financed.

I thought the Xbox vs PS3 fan boy wars were/are pathetic - Not quite sure what to make of the PC vs everybody else fan boy, I suppose I just thought the average PC gamer was slightly older:rolleyes:

Seems like a whole load of worry about nothing, if the game is freezing they can and will patch to fix it on all platforms.
