The German Xbox 360 Version Freezes

(Petrolbomb_Tom) #21

Now you are kidding…Right?

(Grampa Murked U) #22

HOMEFRONT would like a word with you.

(engiebenjy) #23

I take it they never patched Homefront? I have never played it, and never will.

(Grampa Murked U) #24

Oh, its been patched. It was broken in so many ways. After a month I sold that broken pos. I have no idea what attempts they’ve made since then.

(engiebenjy) #25

This might help:

The upcoming first person shooter Brink, from Bethesda Softworks and Splash Damage, will receive a day one patch on the Xbox 360 to fix a number of known issues.

While the game is supposed to be action packed and visually stunning without the day one patch, the Xbox 360 version might not have been equal with the other platforms.

The patch will address irregular visual glitches at distance including texture pop-up and solve a few small networking issues that have been discovered. Fortunately these problems have been found thus the day one patch will be automatically downloaded and installed.

Are we sure that the patch has not already been released?

(Schwarzeis) #27

They say a day one patch, day one is the day the game is officially released for the public (10th of May)

So I guess not :stuck_out_tongue:

Could a Developer confirm this along with releasing the patch notes as xbox users have already downloaded a patch when connecting to Live?

(Jess Alon) #29

Not true. The patch doesn’t drop til the tenth at midnight. What are you talking about? Patch has server access and everything else. Stop trolling.

(Petrolbomb_Tom) #30

What information is this based on? - Microsoft release this patch not Splash Damage and I am not aware of them ever releasing a patch at Midnight.

I ask a simple question and get accused of Trolling - Look around the forum’s and see the hate and fan boy rubbish going on. I might throw around some light hearted remarks every now and then but I am here asking questions about a game I have been following for a year now and feel they need to be asked.

Once again, everyone please play nice.

(Spez) #31

I don’t think he’s trying to troll, as people who have gotten their Xbox360 Versions of Brink already had to download a 3MB update after starting Brink for the first time.

Would be nice to know if this is indeed the day one patch, or something different.
(Some kind of copy protection maybe.)

Your posts seem pretty well timed sometimes. Every game has that tiny download when you sign onto XBL. It’s like a user agreement between the game and the network. A patch fixing visual and network issues would be bigger.

I know this because I got splinter cell conviction at 10PM before release day and it was unplayable at first with some weird glitches when I played it at 11:30. At midnight exactly the game reset itself and started to patch. I lost all my progress and after that it was perfect. When I put it in at 11:30 it had a small quick “update”. The patch at midnight was bigger.

This is why you don’t buy games before the street date.

(Spez) #33

I hope you’re right. Fingers crossed.

SD should really take a leaf of of Codemasters book and be more active on the forums. Codies pass a lot of info through the mods and actively read/post comments to let the community know what’s what.

Come on guys?

Really?
Still waiting for a response as to why so many people have been experiencing audio stutter with their recent titles
Care to enlighten me?

Are you serious? Have a look at the main Brink Forum page and at the bottom it shows active users. Orange coloured users are SD employees. They read a lot - there’s not a day that goes past that I don’t see SD employees reading the forum. They actually post a damn lot, but with all the quadruplicate threads and people posting the first thing that pops into their heads as a new thread I’m sure they’re having trouble keeping up with reading every post let alone responding.

Also, some things of course can’t be mentioned due to restrictions placed upon them from Bethesda etc, such as SDK, DLC etc.
Hi there!

I got my german console version of Brink surprisingly early (did not expect that) and im encountering a problem everytime i play it:

After a while the game just locks up my Xbox 360. The picture freezes and i have to manually reboot the system. I talked to a lot of people i played with last night and at least eleven of them said they are encountering the same gamebreaking bug. (This happens usually after 20 to 30 minutes of play.)

(Im owner of an old 360 AND i own one of the new slim consoles. I installed brink on both and had the same problem on both consoles.)

This may just be a problem with the german 360 version, but i would like to know if this problem is already known to exist and if it will be fixed with the day one patch we will hopefully receive on the official release day.

As it is now the game i payed 60€ for is pretty much unplayable.
Has there been any official reply to the OP regarding the freezing issue and is this problem only on the localised German version or to be expected on all versions?

(Spez) #38

Edit:

Forget what i said below: THE GAME IS STILL FREEZING
Suppose i just had a lucky run…

I think i’ve discovered what causes the freezes.

The first time you start Brink the game creates a save file dependent on the language settings of your Xbox360.

If the language of your save file and the language chosen in your Xbox360 system settings are not the same when playing Brink, the game will eventually freeze.

(The first time i started Brink my Xbox was still set to english language, as i do for most games. This caused Brink to create a French savegame file on my harddrive as the english language is not included on the german Brink disc. After changing my system settings to german to play Brink in german, i effectively had a german language brink using a french savegame…)

A few hours ago i deleted my savegame and started the game with german language settings in the system setup from the get go. Played 5 matches now without the game freezing or stuttering!

In short:
Don’t switch the language settings of your 360 to another language than the one you started Brink with the first time.

Edit:
I just realized that when my UK Verion arrives on 13.May i will have to start all over AGAIN because my german save won’t be compatible to the english version. ARRG.

(DazTroyer) #39

Just going by what I’ve seen, I’ve read countless answers to different question over at Codies site from mode to the devs, including Sean Lenton.

I haven’t as yet noticed one reply here?

Maybe this needs to be stickied - Mods?

P.S Great work by the way Spez, the developers should award you an honorary title for resolving an issue for them.
