I personally hate map pack DLC… take a look at TF2. There are so many maps in the game but people play like what 4 or 5 of those 30-40 maps they got. They even said in their director’s commentary that they didn’t want to make a huge number of maps since many of them went unplayable and people tend to stick to a few maps.
On the topic of Weapon DLC I say if they are just new versions of existing weapons without any differences I would be willing to accept that. Again take TF2’s weapon updates, they release so many different weapons with every update it seems. When you play TF2 it’s almost impossible to tell the difference between the weapons and what special quirky power that weapon has. So again if DLCs were weapons where just new models/skins for existing models I would be much better than quirky new weapons.
I really don’t understand why people want weapons already. The game has a nice assortment of weapons already that do the job. If you added a weapon though I’d like a slow firing high powered heavy weapon. Just for the challenge factor.
In addition I love all of the maps in the games. I gotta give the map designers credit. I think that Splash Damage would get attention from all over the gaming community if they released free DLC that added to everything. Skins for weapons. Outfits. Maps. Maybe a couple challenges that unlock some new attachments. And of course levels with some creative objectives. Splash Damage surprises me with their commitment to excellence in spite of haters.
