SDK for us PC types, let us make our own maps/mods
DLC for consoles, all sorts of new hats and outfits for a nominal fee, or possibly won at ZM sponsored events
So u want BRINK to become ET, where u join some server and download **** loads of crap just to play the game ? Yeah like “pro” modders balance things better than game developers… Oh and DLC is free and i guess they made those maps earlier, coz they knew that alot of people will want DLC.
Devs don’t finetune balance for 5v5 competitive gaming, in my opinion they are there to fix technical problems and get everything right for the pub community and if they have time it’s nice if they create additional maps, but the tournaments rules and balancing should be done by the community.
We all know how succesful the call of duty mapacks where because of the zombies. Why not introduce a similer mode. On one of the missions on the campaign is to retrieve a vacine. Have the vacine contaminated and there is your story behind it. Could be like one of the what if’s on the campaign
You are correct for one massive, planet-sized reason…
XBox 360 players will never get the SDK, any kind of modding capability (in a supported manner, anyway), or the awesome and endless maps, tweaks, modes, and ****-knows what else the PC world will end up enjoying.
We need SD to remember this, and keep us fed DLC that doesn’t divide the community by pricing too many people out.
Back before a decent gaming PC cost the price of a small ****ing car, I used to revel in, and be amazed by, the multitude of mods available for games like UT and Oblivion. Sadly, I have kids and a mortgage, so paying many hundreds of quid to continually update a gaming PC is right out, sadly, hence the switch to consoles. I’m told that some XBox games get modded to a degree, but given that this risks an XBL ban, I don’t touch such things with a ****ty stick.
I miss mods…
SD, we are the console-gamers who helped you buy your Porsche - do NOT abandon us!
Therefore, as a ‘Fail-boxer’ what I need from DLC is simple - longevity through Maps and Modes. There’s enough guns already, and I couldn’t give a rat’s arse for ‘playing dress-up’. Maps and Modes, SD…Maps and Modes.
The PC world can expect all kinds of clever moddery to give Brink longevity for them, Consoles have to rely on SD to ‘keep it coming’.
:stroggtapir: = included to attract dev attention!
I tend to agree - and I’m a PC player. And while the coming DLC looks interesting, personally hope that the level cap doesn’t keep getting pushed up for an endless level grind (we’ve seen that level-grinding isn’t conducive to teamplay). But balancing and fixes 1st please!
Hmm, never got to see the Firefly series but rather liked the film spin-off ‘Serenity’.

You should watch the series. It makes the film even better.
As long as the level cap raises slowly and it’s always easy to hit the cap (maybe make the lower levels even easier as the cap increases?) then I don’t see a problem with a level increase every dlc.
I’m sure they can work on balancing and fixes at the same time as they can do DLC. Models and maps use completely different people to code changes (balancing and bugfixing).

True for maps and models, but new abilities/attachments (like the forthcoming DLC) can obviously affect balance.
It’s worth noting that even at Level 24 you’re still Rank 5, so grouped with Level 20s. The main bonus to being 24 is four more ability credits, which you always have to earn.
I’ll happily buy DLC since there’s very few technical issues with my PS3 copy (it certainly could not be said that it “barely works”), and even though I bought the game for SP I have a bunch of friends who actively play so I join them for MP fun anyway.
