Just a quicky to see your thoughts on the following, I won’t make it a poll cos such things are necessarily never so black and white as a couple of options would allow.
What do you think of the ET (esp. UK) clan scene atm? Is it just picking up? Or is it going down hill rapidly? What league/ladders do you find the best and why?
Would also be interesting to hear from those of you in clans, how much you are enjoying your clanned ET atm.

Absolutely loving ET Clan wars, much more fun than I remember RTCW being, but don’t really know about leagues / ladders as we’re only scrimming at the moment. Hopefully Savage League will be starting soon, and we’ve just entered Clanbase UK to get some scheduled games in, but we’re finding it hard to get scrims.
I don’t know whether it’s picking up or slowing down, although I have noticed a trend for RTCW clans making the switch recently, having finally decided RTCW is dead. Trouble is the Clan scene needs competitions to compete in, and there aren’t any UK specific ones at the moment. Clanbase is a ladder and therefore not taken seriously, and there’s only Savage on the horizon for non-ladder UK competition.
My clan has two ladder teams that just started playing within the last month or so, from what I hear they are getting in some really fun matches. We’re on the Team Warefare league if anyone is interested.

The UK doesn’t have it’s own comp? :o NZ only has 4m people and we’ve got our own tourney…
Why aren’t ladders taken seriously? They seem to be taken seriously here in NZ/AUS. Or do you mean relative to invite-only pro knockout tournaments or something ( don’t have those in this corner of the planet 
).
It only has one, and it’s in a mid-season break at the moment, though due to start sometime real soon we hear. Jolt (big UK gaming ISP) were going to run a league but lack of a head admin has put their plans on hold.
The only other competitions open to us are RTCW.no, a well run and highly regarded Euro league, but it’s already started, and Clanbase, which is a ladder. The UK have generally been not that enthusiastic about ladders, seeing them more as a means of organising scrims than any real competition. Leagues have seasons, and divisions, and promotions and relegations. Ladders just go on and on and on with no real sense of having achieved anything.
Kendle if I knew you guys wanted in on the RTCW.no league we could have arranged for you to take BEER’s place (we’ve gone into hibernation/quit as we only had 3 committed memebers lol), but I think we’ve already pulled out of that competition.
I’m not sure that we do Bondy, though thanks for the offer. Savage and Clanbase will do for starters as we’re really just getting started, plus we only have a small squad ourselves so don’t want to get too stretched. But that’s not to say the UK couldn’t do with more / bigger competitions. We’re kinda falling behind the Euros a bit, with only a very few UK Clans able to compete at the highest levels.
Yep the euro scene is far in advance of the UK scene; we were in the bottom but one league of rtcw.no and in the two games that we did play we got totally owned (but that could be because of our lack of practice, tactics and players)
As you say there are only a few UK clans (which would be considered v.good in comparison to rest of the UK scene) that could match up to an average clan from germany/holland/sweden - from my exp. anyway
the UK scene is shit, no offence to the other teams but only royal can compeat with top clans all the others cant touch them. also i find there is only a few good UK et clans which sucks there needs to be more, and my clan needs to get into some competitions
The UK clan scene is hardly UK.
There isnt really any scene whatsoever unique to the UK which aint shared with the Euros so its usually just UK/EU comps and tournys. Even with the likes of Savage theres a good few clans thats EU in there and will always be the case with UK setups. It has, and will, always be the case.
The whole scene in general seems to have just hit a straight line. Looking at ClanBase both Euro and Open cup there has been a good number of drop outs but always others waiting in que to replace those and team lineups seem to be the same 6/7 regular players per team from any side and location.

And swerving off topic here but is something resting on my mind for the past week which tbh, I cant hold in now after this;
Take this how you want tbh, but, for yourselfs (replica) you have a cheek to say anything regarding the 'shit’ness in the UK scene. Imho its clans like yourselfs who are only making it worse. For the royal comment? Can you kiss up much more arse or you just maintaining a connection for there demos to rip there tactics?
For those who dont know, it ran like this.
We had a scrim arranaged with D2A and within the last 20/30 mins before game was due to start they couldnt field enough. I asked replica to replace and they took us up. 6v6 on our server iirc and first map was Oasis. There was 6 LSR ingame and on TS waiting to start for around 10 mins before teams finally joined… before we started our player br0d on ISDN started pinging a nice 200-600 so we had no other choice but to let him drop. Around this time lsr.Ritch joined up and was in but wasnt responding to our mm2 or ts… After around a further 10/20 minutes consisting of mm1 text spam from this lsr.Ritch and replica team and the game was underway… first thing I myself noticed was that there def setup on Oasis was 100% the same as the setup royal used vs wC in the CBEC a week or so before… nothing wrong with ripping tactics tbh but it is quite desperate. To give them the benefit of the doubt replica, even without there own tactics, played strong. Decent aim and decent medics proved hard for us and afaik Oasis finished 1-1. After this map we had some mm2 between the team and then it was Goldrush…
One of LSR iirc dropped at this point and sSs|Dazza merc’d for us. At the start of this match replica mentioned something about a thing one of us spoke about in mm2 after Oasis… how’d they know what we said? Daz said to myself to watch as he was sure something suspicious was going on with there side and told me who wouldnt be suprised if they used royals attacking tactics too… Already agreed with this as I was sure that if they bit of there Oasis demo then no doubt the Goldrush demo, again, same zip from CB.com avs wC… Moving on… the game started and I was panzer. Jumped round back to check upon ramp then proceeded to side entrance… sure enough, 5 of em was there while 1 engy rifle grenned main… I took 4 of them out with panzer and pistol’d the fifth. Then suddenly accusations are flung up that they want to speak to Dazza after game… why? Cos apparently he told us there tactics? Hrms. I mentioned to mm2 ‘owned’ at the fun of having flung there initial rush back a step then suddenly r’break iirc comes out with in mm1 ‘owned? haha’ or something along those lines. Wtf? Something was deffo up.
To sum things up it turns out that the ‘lsr.Ritch’ in our side was infact a now ex clan leader from replica (I think Ritch was in same clan as a few of the replica lads before joining us) who was using Ritchs alias. This for starters would explain why there was a/ No response from Ritch ingame. b/ No response on TS and c/ The lsr.Ritch spamming mm1 at times along with the r peeps.
As it turns out, on there Ventrilo or whatever server they had 7 players. When there 6th dropped half through Goldrush the players on there server had went from 7 to 6… still one extra? And one of the players happened to be ‘hyper’… this so called exClan Leader who was aliased as Ritch… ofc… all I got from r that night was that they didnt know he was there, he wasnt r anyway and that they couldnt do anything to stop him.
So next time Bat m8, consider looking at yourselfs before calling the rest of the scene shit. K thxbye.
Most of that probably shoulda been PM’ed Piggy. No need to air stuff like that in public. We’ve played some arsey Clans, some who’ve called us cheats, some who’ve been downright rude and unfriendly, and some who’ve been a total pleasure to play against (our regular sparring partners UKEG and One.Soldier spring to mind). You come up against Clans who don’t play fair? Don’t play 'em again. Simple as.
Back on topic, there is no Jolt ET league, since Dottie went AWOL, and no-one’s come forward to take up the reins.
Then why doesnt a few of us get together and take up the Jolt League?
Used to enjoy adminning the Barrysworld Q3 and WPTFC Leagues way back… involved a tad of work at the time but was still enjoyable. Was great watching games alot too picking up stuff and gathering demos for peeps.
Also trying atm to get a decent etpickup channel sorted. Emailed the p0wned lads from #ctfpickup.euro hoping to get an #etpickup.euro proper. None of this #et.gather stuff… 
As for PM. Hardly… I got no response what so ever in the game that night so I left short. Then as mentioned the only reply I got on IRC was that they didnt know what was going on. I just simply fail to see how you could not notice someone telling them on TS whats going on in our side and the fact of WHY there ex Clan Leader was aliased as one of us? Rofl…
Also mentioned its been sitting on me head and tbh, I feel the rest of the community should basically be warned of this type of clan… remind me of the kind who used to join WTV or GTV and tell there clan m8s what was going on from the NMEs POV.
I did 2 seasons as Jolt RTCW ref, and indeed spent most of last year ref’ing or adminning tournies. I promised myself I’d spend this year playing, rather than watching others, though it was good fun and very satisfying at the time.

pgh, ur clan said we were cheating and we kicked the person from the clan that did that to you, and he only helped u thats why u got that 4 man panzer at the command post. ive got the demo from the match and if u want proof then PM me on irc.
im not bumming royal its the truth, a lot of people will say things and at no point did i say my clan were amazign or even bring them into the argument, immaturly u did. there are only a few clans i can name of the top of my head that are n e good in the UK looking for UK scrims with competitive UK teams are hard to find. looking towards EU is the best bet
ur the only clan we have had problems with, u guys all complained about everything and took way to long to start, he was a member of our clan but got told to leave cause of his attitude, wat he didnt wasnt anything to do with us, we didnt even know, u guys are pretty dim for not realising

Imo ET is doing very good, competetive wise. There are some big leagues where amazing clans are represented (rtcw.no, clanbase ladders and cups), and there are a lot of amazing clans active. Coverage is ok atm, but I would really like to see how the situation will be when ET-Tv is released. My thoughts at first of ET where that the global level of skill of the clans wasnt going to be high, because the game would be free. A free game attracts very much people, imo more people who are new to online gaming then a paid one. But when I look at the level of personal skills and teamplay of most clans, it proved otherwise Lets see where we are in half a year from now!

We FIRST spoke about cheating in mm2 as we all suspected something was wrong. This was the first thing I think you lot brought up in mm1 even tho we had teamchatted about it. This again, rasied even more concern.
I mm1’d and paused the game to attempt to sort things out. This was when I threw the accusation that you were infact cheating. And I was right.
I somewhat doubt the fact that just because we had a player (hyper as Ritch) playing was a greater advantage to the fact that he was able to tell you lot over Voice what we were saying, doing, classes or whatever etc.
3 Things now you have said about this hyper. From RTCW.co.uk I can see hes a bit of a twat but what I dont understand is ingame, your ringer AND 2 clan players all said for starters he wasnt hyper. Then it was said he hasnt been replica since you split from his old clan (I think again, the clan bit) and then and now you state he was kicked because of this?
As I stated quite clearly above, it was down to the fact that it was a tactic I had seen used before that I knew you wouldve gone for. I too have the demo and logs from the match, also got the server logs if needed and theres not a single line anywhere showing hyper telling us your attack. The fact he was helping you lot kinda ruins the point of him even going to the hassle of aliasing in the first place?
To be perfectly honest. If we had just stuck with 5v5 instead of having the shit of players coming on and off… someone asking sSs peeps to join to ring even tho no one needed them at first and so forth. Remember, you lot had 5 r players + a ringer. We had 6 until we asked one too drop so that this ‘Ritch’ can play… us not knowning any better obviously.
