The amount of aimpunch, as is, only affects sniping and other long ranged combat

I play sniper religiously, and as a result, I notice quite a few things that I love and hate. One of the things I absolutely hate about playing sniper, is that the amount of aimpunch in the game (very little) is exemplified greatly when in a sniper scope. For a shot to be completely thrown off its mark due to some dude across the map who happened to shoot you once with his rifle, is ridiculous. When fighting at long range, as it is, the person who lands the first shot has a complete edge over the person who got shot, souly because of aimpunch.

Why should a skill dampening mechanic like this exist in any fps? What good does RNG bring to a skill-based shooter?
What do you guys think of aimpunch? I beg you to try sniping against someone who is just spamming bullets at you. No matter how hard you try, you are still going to have to struggle against the bullet flinching to pull off a nice shot.

Aim punch definitely needs to be removed, at least from sniping. It’s less noticeable on every other class, but its absolutely aggravating as a sniper.

not sure, its one of the few ways a player can try to counter sniper at a distance (pin them down)

I understand why aim-punch is there, but it’s really hard being sniper anyways in this game (or at least in some of the maps and parts of the maps)

you will learn; its all about knowing the maps and good angles, if you know where to sit you can have fun picking them off

I didn’t actually notice any aimpunch but if it’s there it shouldn’t be. All it does is reward whoever shoots first and adds an element of luck/randomness to the gunplay.

It definitely is and now that I’ve been playing for a bit longer, I have noticed the aimpunch and it is very annoying. Even if you’re using an AR, if you actually go for headshots the aimpunch will make you miss a few shots. What’s really frustrating is that if you were aiming at the chest instead of the head then the aimpunch would actually cause you to get a headshot that you didn’t deserve.

I think there needs to be some adjustment to aimpunch but I do not think it would be fair to remove it completely. I think that is the one advantage for any gunner vs a sniper (as I was watching your stream earlier), I think that is the only balanced thing about it as a sniper is easily one of the best slaying classes in the game if used appropriately.

I’m sorry but I disagree I like it. Otherwise sniping in this game would be boring this way once you’re spotted you have to get creative with your plays. So please keep the flinch effect in. (Sniper is my main class)

Maybe for a sniper where you just need to quickly peek and pull of one quick shot but if you’re playing with any full auto gun, flinching makes it impossible to keep your crosshair at head height consistently at range.

I agree that sniping is incredibly effective, but when playing against players who know how to play against snipers, it almost becomes impossible to reliably hit shots on them. Why? Because, good players, when dueling a sniper, will crouch spam. The aimpunch makes it literally impossible to hit a headshot against someone who’s head is bouncing up and down. At that point, it is all luck.

not only does the sniper rifle feel like 200dpi when zoomed in (try making small movements at a distance across the map, you will see what i mean). The aimpunch makes it impossible to hit anyone in close to medium range once they’ve begun spamming at you - against good coordinated teams who understand sniper sightlines and know how to dodge well only the very best aimers will even compete at most points of the maps.

What is considered the best sniper card (weapon choice) out of the ones available? I will play around with it for a couple rounds but from just purely watching and from how other guns function due to aim punch I am inclined to say that it would make snipers TOO effective for what they are meant for. Which is longer distance sniping. I will gladly take the time to play the class and see if I agree and that it would still keep the skill gap that there should be. I just feel that most games over compensate and make snipers practically unstoppable which shouldn’t be the case.

Sniper is the one class which really has no case against aim punch. You can kill in one (head) shot, and you SHOULD be landing the first shot or otherwise it’s fair game if you lose the duel. You aren’t meant to be untouchable from a distance just because you have a sniper rifle, in fact you shouldn’t even be spotted if you use it well.

Are you saying the only counter (at range) other classes have on snipers (trying to land a shot despite bullet-spread at range and knock you off your aim) should be removed?

I’m not trying to make a strawman of your argument but that is how this reads to me.

I feel as if without aimpunch snipers would simply reign with impunity given any segment of a map that gives them sufficient range.

After playing with vassili this afternoon I see literally zero reason to remove it, otherwise you will unbalance the class. I am definitely not as good as you (at least right now) but I find snipers to be extremely effective even without hs abilities. The body shot to auto pistol makes it extremely hard for people to challenge you. Also my vassili has 0 perks at the moment so depending on what they give you for bronze, silver, gold I think any additional skills or abilities will make him OP as hell. This is from about 2 hours of playing with him and getting use to the learning curve of movement speed. I am already maxing kills, and using him in an effective manner that I think would be very dangerous in a match. The other reason I feel removal would be unnecessary is that when you hs with the sniper it INSTA kills them. There is 0 revival ability if you get hs’d by a sniper. THIS IS HUGE. High risk=high reward. This is the way it should be imo, and if you have teammates even if you get hit a couple times its not going to do too much to you compared to if you’re hsing them.

Vassili against really good players (I’ve played against some really sick dudes in mm) is way too hard as it is. He can be shut down and made useless so easily, because of how hard headshots are to hit with the aimpunch + crouchspam combo.

By the way there is an augment called Focus which sounds like it will reduce the aim punch by 50% (they call it “flinching”). I bet there’s a sniper loadout which has this (it says while using iron sight or scoped).

I was watching your stream earlier and you seemed to be doing just fine against the euros, although your team as a whole couldn’t connect (due to the outrageous ping) but you seemed to be doing just fine. I guess will just have to agree to disagree on this topic.
