The amount of aimpunch, as is, only affects sniping and other long ranged combat

aye, that aug only makes sense for auto-fire weapons. If you aim for the head, any aimpunch will veer you off it.
What I think of sniper?
Sometimes they stand still and facetank you
Nobody can kill him at longrange because our spread and recoil is utter shit longrange
You need 1-2 bullets we die
Rest needs to make multiple headshots…
I watched your VOD against us on train and thought your duels with kev were pretty telling about the state of aimpunch for vasilli and to me it seems fair. You got him a few times when you should have, and you missed him when he was hitting/putting pressure on you when you were out in the open-- a situation where you really should not be consistently getting kills. You really should not wish for the sniper rifle to be a 1 shot rail gun at all times, this game isn’t instagib after all.
Wouldn’t the aimpunch removal make Sniper Rifles a superior weapon at high level play ?
No, crouch spamming and sporadic movement (like wall jumping) makes sniping extremely demanding when compared to sniping in pubs, where everyone moves in straight lines and stands still when they shoot.

id change tactics.
if this was the case, id grab a semi auto rifle as vaz and just harass and spam shots- more for body and if the opportunity is there, the head. You would be acting as a true support class.

Snipers should be superior at range, otherwise they will become a fringe class used only on very specific objectives. Your suggestion to switch from a fragger to a support class is ridiculous, imagine someone suggesting that in a game like dota. Anything that makes snipers less effective at range should be patched, just as it would be strange if snipers were more effective than shotguns in CQB.

They should but SMG’s can’t make a dent in them at long range despite aiming for headshots. It’s a bit eh…

tactically speaking, area denial is JUST AS IMPORTANT in this game as kills. Scaring your opponents from being able to safely cross the street is as valuable as killing one of them.
No clue what Aimpunch was till I read the op, in TF2 it’s called flinching.
And yea, while it’s annoying, it definitely does NOT need to be removed. In TF2, good snipers can account for flinching because they probably know the weapon firing rates pretty well. For example, afterburn makes you flinch a LOT, but it is still very possible to get headshots while on fire, as there are moments when you are still.
There are but they don’t do much and in any case saying there’s a perk that makes a bad mechanic less obvious doesn’t change the fact that it’s a bad mechanic.
Eh,
If you are the type of sniper that sits back at extremely long distance and gets the occasional potshot on players you are absolutely useless. I know this is the ‘appeal’ of playing sniper, being out of harms way and getting the occasional safe kill on people but its USELESS! This applies to both defense and attack.
If you want to be a sniper that actually contributes to team objectives, learn how to snipe in close-quarter combat. It puts you in a position to assist in objective play (defuse/arm plant), assist your team with heart-beat sensor (example placing heart-beat sensor in enemy spawn to time skyhammer’s airstrike), and most importantly landing high-damage insta-gib shots on important classes.
If you can’t land the insta-gib headshots, you can out-duel any class in the game with a single body shot & finish with machine pistol. This includes fraggers… It simply requires you to take the initial shot, kite around the corner while they chase you and come back at them with machine pistol.
This works against the best players in AUS.
Not that it means anything (pub games), but I play upclose, arm/defuse objectives, push with sniper/machine pistol combo and pretty much top every game with 40/10 KD. Vasilli is a beast, but if your just pot shotting he is useless.
Aim punch has impacted me in maybe 1% of engagements.
Note: Vasilli is a pub stomp class, he would be useless in a scrim with the exception of heart beat sensor on spawn & skyhammer airstrike.
Sorry, buy playing Sniper CQC is super ineffective. You’re much better off with a Fragger if you wanna play CQC. Main purpose of a sniper is to kill people and give info. You have a powerful rifle with a scope that excels at long range engagements. Play CQC against any decent or even average player and you’re simply gonna get shat on.
Aim punch is a big problem for snipers (for any class as a matter of fact), but especially for snipers.
Useless in scrims? Not really. Not at all actually. I tried sniping in a scrim against a decent team yesterday and was on top of the scoreboard with 40+ kills defense. You don’t have to get the headshot every time, bodyshots help your teammates infinitely much.
