:stroggbanana:I was going to post in that “Status and future” thread but that seemed like a good place for my questions to just get overlooked. (As much as I would love to talk about publisher politics and why they all have to be inconsiderate, greedy … something that rhymes with “poliTICKS”):stroggbanana:

So, I notice that my “persistent stats” screen in-game is still showing progression. The other day my “expected next award” actually changed, too. What does this all mean…?

Is the master stat database still up, and it’s just the public stats website that’s down?

Will I still get awards?

And by extension, will I still get promotions?

It was super lame of them to take the stats website and RSS feed (<-this is mainly what I used) down, but let’s face it: the ppl who rated highest on there were mainly fraudulent, traitorous XP whores. The ppl who switch sides during a map to maximize XP… traitors who should be shot (in-game) and banished from the game (IRL).

But for my own amusement I would still like to get awards, and for recognition in-game (:stroggbanana:mainly to avoid the fact that so many people stack teams based on the # of 5-star players they see:stroggbanana:) I would like to get my promotions.

Yes, yes and yes, but trust me, rank means nothing, it won’t give you any extra abilities and it’s just there to make you feel good about yourself.

There’s a special place in hell for the person that came up with that kind of crap.

Thanks for the replies. Follow-up questions:

  1. So, the RSS feed is confirmed dead? i.e. in-game is the only way to see stats anymore?

  2. Going back to the initial announcement … if “all servers are now equally ranked/unranked” or whatever it said, yet I still earn XP/progress in games, does this mean I can now earn XP/progress playing custom maps? Cuz frankly that would almost be worth the stats site being taken offline!

Being half-serious, though… I have had a love/hate relationship with ETQW, due mainly to having crappy computer for most of the time the game has been out + personal objections to some bad SD design decisions that I’m not going to get into, here. So I am kinda late to the party as far as “leveling up” goes. I’m glad I can still do it even though they took stats site offline.

Plus, the way the ranking system works in ETQW, it seems like it really is quite a challenge and a proud record of your in-game experience to earn all the awards, especially if you earn them in the course of natural gameplay, i.e. play the way you normally would and don’t whore or pad.

I know what you’re saying but I actually do find it entertaining and interesting, just as a means of evaluating one’s own progress (which is why I liked the RSS). +nifty weird stats like “# of husky kills”, airstrike marker kills, etc. :wink:

And as much as I loved W:ET and love to play for the team and play for the objectives, and pulled off my share of heroics like clinch plants with ~30 seconds left, or dropping in to blow up the spaceship on Quarry with seconds left, I feel I should have a befitting insignia/rank.

You can earn xp playing custom maps, but it’s not registered because :
A) Custom works on Promod only
B) Promod doesn’t follow stats
C) Custom maps have never, and probably will never follow stats

Custom maps can be played with Vanilla ET:QW as well but if you wanna gain ranks, you need to play on a ranked server and you can’t use custom maps (or a mod) on a ranked server.

It’s a shame, but that’s the way it works.

Ahh ok, i only thought that custom maps only worked on promod. Is indeed a shame that you can’t import custom maps into a ranked servers map pool.
