Thank you SD, for killing DB in Russia and CIS.

(Rengenius) #1

Today I received confirmation from russian “game operator” of DB, Destiny Development, that Dirty Bomb players from Russia and CIS will not be able to use international version of client and will not be able to play on international servers from russian client.

This is very sad news for me and some of my friends, who was interested to play DB on competitive level, because russian competitive community most likely will be very small. Forced segmentation of a playerbase will only hurt competitive community, teams from CIS and the rest of the world won’t be able to play each other.

I would like to receive some comments on that from SD.
Is there any chance this isn’t final?
Will the CIS be the only “getto”, or some players from, i don’t know, Australia, will also be facing this?

Also I would like to know what about my legendary founder status? Because, you know, I will not be able to play this game…

The international client should still work though right?

(Rengenius) #3

Well, I was hoping for that, but I received negative answer on direct question “Will the players from CIS be able to use international client?” =(

(RasteRayzeR) #4

Maybe this is a question of latency … what’s your ping when you play on the UK servers ?

(Rengenius) #5

~60 from Moscow, players from Ukraine, for example, most likely will have even lesser ping.

It’s not the latency, it’s the publisher policy.
Publishers of F2P games have a bad reputation here, because of very aggressive monetization (which often differs from international very drastically), bad support, and bad community managers. And it is not a surprise after that, that they make such limitations…

(MrFunkyFunk) #6

Isn’t that a bit early to rush to that kind of speech from them? And it’s still only a third party.
Not being able to play on international servers seems a bit fishy, it would imply that you’ll basicly play a different game than we are (due to different monetization?).
Will SD (and its sister companies) rely on other companies to run regional communities of DB (Russia & Asia publics in mind)?

I can understand your frustration if it ends up like Warface.

(Mustang) #7

It definitely sounds like they’re trying to retain a playerbase rather than actually speaking the truth, maybe someone should have a word with them.

[/QUOTE]That’s why I would like to hear some comments from SD. I asked badman on IRC few days ago, but he had no information about game release, only about alpha.

(Dragonji) #9

This is an interesting subject, I personally would like to play with my Russian mates on the same server some day

(pulley) #10

Actually i don’t like to play against Russian team. So it’s ok for me XD HAHA

I don’t see any problem to just download the normal version and play with us?

You can actually get denied access based on your ip location (either account creation or use, or both).
It’s a common method from game publishers when there is regional content/restriction.

There are always vpn & proxies but it’s another matter of its own.

(pulley) #12

ya sure. But if its because of paying for ingame content they could just use our client without buying stuff. The game will be F2P but not P2W XD haha.

(Finko) #13

This devide to CIS players and all others will kill game as e-sport discipline.

(RasteRayzeR) #14

Otherwise, use a proxy at the expense of a bit more lag …

(Nail) #15

I would guess this has more to do with Russian government than SD trying to piss you off

(Patriotqube) #16

well a Word from SD about this would be nice tbh

(Hundopercent) #17

So Russian players can only play vs other Russians?

(INF3RN0) #18

I’m Russian so… does that mean I can play with em or will I have to reforge my birth certificate

(Mustang) #19

Just played a couple maps with the Russian guys and they are good!

Wish we could all play together though.

(Finko) #20

As i understand there are two different game clients, because i live in Moscow and have “international” client, but i dont see russian servers.
