Textures

(Greybat) #1

okay

so i am busy with my map, and i wanted to test textures, and i used stuff out of wurzburg,

so i used the road, rocks and grass

the roac is what you see
but the rocks and grass is the orange-black thingy

so i tried to add them into my texture map but i can’t find them i can’t find any textures and in the pak0.pk3 there isn’t a radar file or any textures i am using

Search the packs in your Engine folder (basicly the etmain for Radiant). You can also see what is the name of the texture and its location in radiant. Once you find it the easiest thing to do is to copy it from the pack, paste it your own etmain/textures/MYMAP folder, reload Radiant, open your MYMAP texture pack and reuse the textures. Once you load the map dont forget to include textures/MYMAP folder in pack

(Greybat) #3

if you mean my radiant folder, i tried looking there but i couln’t find anything, i didn’t searched my radiant file in the wolfenstein folder but i will do it now…

-searching-

EDIT : ok nothing there -.-

(==Troy==) #4

Well just logicly, if you can use texture in Radiant, this means that it knows where the texture is, hence it is either Radiant packs or one of the packs in etmain folder. :roll:

Edit : Are you using radiant 1.5?

(Greybat) #5

I alos have it on my computer… but i got used to 1.4 and didn’t like the texturing it uses so no i am using 1.4

(==Troy==) #6

Mhh… ok. Its easier with Radiant 1.5, as if you select the texture, and view -> show shader path, from the shader you can then find the path for the texture.

Is it a custom texture or the standard one?
How did you search the packs?
Are you searching in the etmain folder assigned to your Radiant?

(Greybat) #7

I used the textures from radatr that where in the textures file

i searched in these spopts :

C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - enemy territory\Radiant 1.4
&
C:\Program Files\Radiant 1.4.0\rest of those files there

coudn’t find anything

(==Troy==) #8

try search this one

C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - enemy territory\etmain

EDIT: Do you realise that the texture is in *.pk3 file, and hence cannot be found by the usual windows search, as it wont search in unknown files unless they are assigned as a compressed file?

(Greybat) #9

did it but i only have the maps filed, script, models, video, som cfg’s and some pk3. files

*~note : i use 2 computers 1 to play wolfenstein & 1 to make maps ( i have wolfenstein on my map computer to test it with devmap , etc.
but nothing with textures) Although i did found a comon.pk3

wich has the Comon textures~*

(==Troy==) #10

if you are suing the texture from standard radar map, search here:

etmain/pak0.pk3/textures

But again, when you load the textures in the Radiant - which folder are they adressed to? (Say Textures/alpha etc.)

(.Chris.) #11

pak0.pk3 in /etmain contains all the game assets, well most of them, extract this as you would a zip file to get all the booty inside.

(==Troy==) #12

As I said above, search in windows does not search pk3 files :slight_smile: And all the textures are in pk3 files.

(Greybat) #13

my pak0 only has raingun props and ruble no radar in it and it is located in the radar map wich isn;t in pak0.pk3

(==Troy==) #14

Nope, the radar textures are in pk0.pk3 file. Defenitely :slight_smile:

(Greybat) #15

i don’t have it i don’t have alot fo textures in the pak0.pk3 thsat are in the radiant

(broloi) #16

They are adressed to Textures/Radar

Shader path = script/radar.script
And the scripts there use different texture folders, so its kinda hard to find the right folder… I understand him if he couldnt find the Radar folder, since it doesnt exist ^^, the textures are from other folders.

(==Troy==) #17

Well… I didnt say he needs to find radar folder :slight_smile: And yes, the best thing to do is to unpack pak0.pk3 as a compressed file :slight_smile:

(.Chris.) #18

You mean radar.shader?

(Magic) #19

If you get the black/orange thingy you cant have used textures from the pak0.pk3 file,and i dont think you have to unzip the pk3 files - its good enough to place it in etmain.

(broloi) #20

You mean radar.shader?[/quote]

ehh… DUUUH, ye i do
