TEXTURE ARTIST

(pro3dartist24) #1

Hey guys. I’m new. I’m a Texture artist from the once beloved empire called Cinematic games (which is no more). I have signed up to get connected with everyone, say high, and put my self out there with my work. You all can view my stuff at:

http://bobbyrice.random5.com/

I don’t claim to be a god at texturing but texturing was my primary duties with Cinematic games and i loved it. I loved the work, the atmosphere and the team. It rocks to work with the artistic collective. I look forward to it again.

Oh, and one more thing, to the creaters of this site, OMG freaking “NICE”. Great layout and design. SUPERB.

Hey welcome! Nice work

Thanks but I also apreciate some harder critizism on the work. If there is something you think could be changed then let me know. Or what ever ya know.

Nice site. Loading animations for most of the shockwave objects would be good - I almost left because ‘nothing happened’ for a while on a link I clicked on :|.

( not everyone has access to ‘real’ broadband  )

Yeah, those loaders are a bi#ch sometimes unless your connection is high speed. Even then its sometiems bad. My target audience is game companies though, so, I crammed as much in as possible. Its pretty smooth though on broad band connections.

Does anyone here work for Splash Damage?

Welcome to the forum.

Have you seen the news that SD is looking for a texture artist?

The people that have the SD-logo in their avatar are working for SD.
The drop posts from time to time.
But I guess they are around all the time.

I’ve made a thread about all the mods that are being worked on:
http://www.splashdamage.com/index.php?name=pnPHPbb2&file=viewtopic&t=7522
So may be you will find something interesting there.

Yeah I posted my resume to the jobs email listed by SD. Though, it is a saterday, or at least it is here. And, OH YES, I saw the texture artist listing, heck at his point, I love this stuff some much, I would work for bare minimum. All I know is, I want to be apart of there crew and that kind of collective harvest of ideas and thought and influence. My portfolio is good, as far as what others have told me and I hope they like it.

One other thing…the avatar is that dog looking icon that reminds us all of stargate right?

It’s the compass-like picture with “splashdamge” at the bottom.

Reloading of gun is too slow

Hehe, no, textures look very professional, however, the ingame footage is a bit grainy (well, very grainy) for me, don’t know if its just my comp, or the actual video. Anyways, nice site, and nice textures

Sad the game folded, all that time, energy and money gone to waste :frowning:

LOL, its our bosses loss. He had 2 million and just blew it on this with now return. Oh well, i got almost half the games props to take home , so, i’m happy. Regarding the grainy vid. Well, lets just say, if i get the chance for an interview, i got the high quility ones to show.

Also, i only did the textures for the buildings props and vehicles.

You asked.

Alot of your levels seem REALLY similar. Theres not too much diffrentiating one from another. They also seem small and not too much to do. Same for your vehicles, it seems like you had one idea and ran with it making slight variations. Some of your drawings are good, but theres not enough there to do a well based charachter model (im only guessing thast what you were drawing for) All in all you have some really nice work, but just need a little variation and difference between alot of your stuff. You have some good designs though, and alot of good ideas. Just needs a little tweaking.

Thanks Icon, i appreciate the comments. U’r actually not the first to say that about the models having one idea. U see, i was actually suppost to keep them in the same category of style for game purposes. I could go back and change em up alittle like you said, but all in all, it was more of a “follow orders” kinda thing when making them.

Regarding the levels, well, we were only in our first year and 5 months of development. So, what your seeing is simply walk though’s of finished bases in the engine.

(pro3dartist24) #14

one other thing, how do I post pics in this forum???

(nUllSkillZ) #15

It’s not possible to upload pictures.
You can insert pics with the [ img ] weaddress [ /img ] tag.
webaddress is the link to the pic.

I figured you were under some sort of direction. Most game designers have some sort of director. Thats the one thing i dread about freelance work, you have to do what the customer wants. No suggestions unless they ask. =) but it has its perks and flaws.

go to http://paintedover.com/ and just upload, then thell give you everything you need.
