Sorry if this has already been posted but I didnt see a topic on this. The text chat need to be made bigger. Most people don’t ever see text chat. IMO the text should be about 3 times bigger so people actually pickup the text chat coming in. I have typed stuff multi times without a reply.:banghead: Also there should be a way to wake up players through the OSP ref commands ala SOF2 like hitting the person with a phone or stripping them of weapons. :bash:

i run at 11** x 8**. The text, IMO, takes up too much space - both in size and spacing
I agree, the spaces between the lines should be left out. There is no need to smear the chat halfway accross the screen

Players that dont pay attention to textchat at all right now, also wont be paying attention to the chat if the letters would be 10 times as big. They either can’t read english or they just want to frag, and dont give a toss about teamplay or even winning. IMO.
actually its not so much the size as it is the colors. the light pastel colors are hard to read especially on a snow level like fueldump. there should be an option for a background color with % alpha you can adjust for the chat area.
oh yeah, and ‘mr potato head’ needs to go. would give more screen area for the text chat.
Agree totally about Mr Potato head. At first I didn’t mind him. But the more I play, the more I realise how much space he takes up on my screen.
And the text chats are a bit messed up. You can’t really play a text game because the damn auto-medic calls make your text disappear within seconds. I liked Wolf style texts at the top of the screen. Generally speaking, the top of the screen is going to be less busy than the bottom (sky tends to have less enemies in it). Also a small background block of colour like wolf had would make it far easier to read the text.
One other minor point - the event text needs to last longer. I suggest losing the space between them and giving them much longer times. I’m always having to look at the console to see where the dyna was planted simply because I don’t have time to read the screen report when I’m being shot at.
this is how i’d prefer the HUD, though also resize the compass though to about 2/3 the size it usually is. (bow to my l33t 5minuite Paint cut+paste skillz :p).
quick explanation… number for health, number is coloured the same way as the crosshair can be set. EXP number chopped, can see it on scoresheet, and the levels are shown in numners to take up less room also. chats are roughly where they already are, but less clutter makes them easier to read. slightly above and to the left is only certain Echo’s, i.e. deaths and game announcements like “dynamite planted at the fueldump!”. Also players can script lines to echo here. Top left is where ALL echo shows, although maybe not necessary: you only need to see deaths and objective information, rest can still see in console… In the absolute upper left corner is the fireteam info, but with minimal clutter.
OK so it IS a bit more like rtcw, 3/4 the current ET hud and 1/4 the rtcw one, but it’s a lot less cluttered and shows the important info much more clearly imo - while taking up less space.
I use th compass a lot and i thnk the size is just right, any smaller and dont think i would use it.
That mock up hud design is good, although one thing I would miss would be the stars for the xp/ranking system. Numbers are fine, but haviung four stars there just feels better. Perhaps if they squeezed it into a corner instead of having the stars overlap the screen area so much.
