[TESTERS NEEDED] Dirty Bomb HUDEdit PROTOTYPE VERSION

(Xyfurion) #1

Hello Everyone, it has been quite some time. I have been working on Dirty Bomb HUDEdit for the last couple months and have made quite a bit of progress. (Excuses incoming) The reason why progress has been really slow is due to changes to the ingame HUD and due to my laziness. There are other reasons, but I wish to spare you the excuses.

I now wish to show you the fruits of my work by giving you the software itself. Keep in mind though, this software is still in development so there are bound to be many bugs. For that, you may click here to submit a bug report.

Bug Report Form

I also wish to get your help on ideas for improving the overall look of the software and get your ideas on features to add.

Note: Many of the features are still incomplete; I don’t want bug reports on incomplete features.

Download: ZIP 64 BIT - ZIP 32 BIT

To send console log, run the JAR via cmd, reproduce bug, copy output and paste into “Console Output” field of Bug Report Form.

Have a good day.

Woohoooo!

Looks great so far.
Easy to use without useless stuff.

Keep up with your amazing work. <3

(Kekler) #3

Finally, i have waited so long for this. You are doing gods work <3

(Kekler) #4

@Xyfurion
Just started the 64bit version up, previously i installed JRE, as soon as i select 16:9 and 1920*1080 i get this result
https://i.gyazo.com/8898daaacf81f33de4676be94ea1d313.png
and can´t seem to do anything, selected assets don´t load in. Am i doing something wrong? Btw im running Windows 7 64bit.

(Xyfurion) #5

@Kekler No, that was a mistake on my part. For now only 1280x720 is working properly since it is the base resolution. I should have disabled the dropdown menus. For now, if you just click “Okay” instead of selecting your resolution, it will run fine.

Orighty managed to give it a small spin with this excuse of a laptop I’m currently stuck with until Wednesday. But so far looking good, later next week I’ll take the time to investigate if the fact that I had to drag’n’drop each asset twice to make them “stick” where I wanted was a bug or me misunderstanding the feature.

Keep in mind that anything I say though comes from someone with 0 understading of coding so I have no sodding idea what is possible (or sensible to create) and what is not :'D So I just let it all spew out.

Really liking the simplicity and drag’n’drop style. Grid is maybe a little glaring, maybe there could be either option to hide it (sorry if I missed if there was such?) or make the lines more transparent. So that the whole ordeal can be imagined more like how it’ll look in-game after moving stuff around.

Saw that there was some colour options in the drop-down menu of the assets? If it’ll be possible to even change colour of certain HUD elements / texts in the finished version, perhaps putting that as a separate option instead of listing it with all the other elements could reduce the “bulging” feel of the drop-down menu, as there are already quite a lot of different elements to move around.

That’s my 2 cents so far, once again awesome and thank you that we could get something to check out and give opinions on before it’s finished!

(Xyfurion) #7

@bontsa Thank you for your feedback. As it so happens, most of the features you mentioned are planned. Disabling the grid as well as snapping is soon to be added in. I also plan on having colour and the other values (max chat lines, etc) in separate dropdown boxes.

As for the bug of having to drag it twice, so far I have somewhat of an idea as to what is causing it. I will try my best to have it solved by full release. So far it only detects drag if it is being selected.

(As I was writing this, I think figured out the problem XD )

(AlphaUT) #8

Do u mind to explain about this thing? What is it about? What’s the function?

(bontsa) #9

@AlphaUT Its a HUD editor just as the title suggests  Test version, so that Xyfurion can get to know of more bugs that can be then fixed before final build.

@UnexpectedCasualty Install java, exctract the .rar file(Winrar, 7-zip, some exctract program), open the .jar file by “Open with” function with Java.

(Xyfurion) #10

@bontsa thank for answering so that I don’t have to <3

(bontsa) #11

I got’zu bruh

(b8rpwn1337) #12

you know i’ve been checking the forums only for this #hype <3
will edit after using it.

(EverythingElse) #13

So how do I edit it? Im running on 32bit and I have extracted the file, but don’t know what to do now.

(bontsa) #14

@animatedMuskmelon First, I love RNG for that name of yours.

Second, after extracting you should make sure you got 32bit Java installed, and open the .jar file that came from exctraction with it (use “Open with” function if needed). Aaand thats it, should be working. As said above though only 1280x720 somethingsomething res is working so give it a spin like so. And report bugs as described in original post

(EverythingElse) #15

Oh alright, thanks! it works :>

(Reddaxi) #16

I will give this a try.

(Xyfurion) #17

@bontsa The real MVP. :smiley:

(Xyfurion) #18

@Reddaxi I appreciate it :smile:

@UnexpectedCasualty Install java, exctract the .rar file(Winrar, 7-zip, some exctract program), open the .jar file by “Open with” function with Java.
i did that, when i open it, a black window with text pops up for a split second and nothing happens
¯_(ツ)_/¯

I unno, what’s your operating system and you sure you’ve got right Java for it? (For Windows theres both 32bit and 64bit Java)

(bontsa) #20

I ain’t sure but try the first one. https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
