Test on server - All abilities ON

(BomBaKlaK) #1

So I set a test serveur with all the abilities ON for each class (except adrenaline no more slot, and nerves of steel for engeneer who defusing to quick), so you can change class without to disconnect to choose another classe who have some abilities.
Like in Wolf ET and ETQW you can change class easier to help your team. even with a level 1 you have acces to all !

here is the server in TOTAL WAR mod :

Server
||||| Banz|AIE| ||||| No Bots All abilities ON

IP : 213.246.38.159:27415

hax i demand this be removed this instant

(Seiniyta) #3

I haven’t been on the server, but how so hax?

You do know you can tweak those settings wtih a server right?

(BomBaKlaK) #4

that’s just like the ESL rules but with all the abilities
no hax , just param the server that’s all ! the anti cheat still there and all stay the same.
make the game closer to an ETQW or a wolf ET when you need to change class to help your team.

Actually if you dont have a charater with some abilities in the needed class you can change but you’re not very effective a least. Here you can  like in the previous SD games !

And I precise in the topic title : that’s a test ! to see what’s happen

(its al bout security) #5

removing the whole poit of multiple charicters for the sake of balance: priceless

(BomBaKlaK) #6

we’ll see ! for me balance is one big black spot on BRINK so we try some other ways …
and it’s really boring to disconnect to change charater or body type …

(riptide) #7

Yes because in the end balance is what is most important.

(BomBaKlaK) #8

Let’s test !

I just set the server with this param this morning.

(its al bout security) #9

glad we see eye to eye on this

Not everyone is playing on public servers only. The area this game is measured on is the competetive part, it’s what generates money, attracts new players and provide some lulz and fun at tournaments and such, noone cares about public.

So restricting the abilities while at the same time giving everyone the same stuff regardless of their actually skilled abilities is a winwin function for competetive gaming. Only thing that is still needed is level 7 to get the light body type. But probably, after the weapon balance patch, mediums will be played more often and that limitation will be gone, too. But that’s another topic…

(DarkangelUK) #11

The whole point of multiple chars was there to appease the grinders, and I believe this damaged the essence of what Brink was aiming for rather than enhancing it. I can understand what SD were trying to achieve, and I admit in the early days I was against changing char mid-match, but witnessing selfish gameplay to keep hold of the ‘power’ the players have with a class they tuned and not wanting to switch makes me realise that was a mistake.

With this setup, players will change class without fear of being at a disadvantage, and with a game that thrives on it’s classes and objectives, having a system in place that puts people off from changing class just doesn’t make sense to me. Would be interesting to see how this test works out, but I fear the masses that wanted it in the early days have all but gone.

(BomBaKlaK) #12

BRINK is not an MMOFPS so I really think that’s a bad idea the limitation to 20
we need to custom every class to set some good charater to avoid the staking class people.
to change class when we want like in wolf ET or ETQW

make a good point for the balance I think

(its al bout security) #13

still not meeting eye level with this. for some things i guess but this is ET:QW

you are supposed to be one class or a hybrid and switch to those classes.

i dunno but the game was made a certain way. i really dont like that idea cause if a team of 8 says hey lets break through this choke point real quick, they all change to soldier and all spamm nades all at once, boom enemy team defeated, or first with 8 flash banhs strategically paced say 7 seconds behind eachother, or on defence everyone switches to operatives, BLAM instant 8 turrets and a mine field. jeez i just see it being used as a cheater tactic more than being helpful

(BomBaKlaK) #14

if that’s block on one objective you can change to have a more powerfull team and get out some stuck game.

operative have some iem nade so he can immobilize a lot of turrets and hack it so it becomes his turrets … so it’s balanced

lot of turret = lot of operative
lot of soldiers = lot of soldiers on the other side
one team choose = the others can instantly adapt

and if we can change body type can be better !
one heavy one one side = one heavy on the other side
and we can change when we saw our team is weaken
etc … you have a way to intant balance the game by your class choices like previous SD games

I tell you let see what’s happen come play with us tonight and we’ll see

You mean you are rewarded for adapting to the game play in the most efficient manner instead of having to be Miss Cleo and have the foresight to see exactly what abilities you would need for that specific map.

Ya you’re not going to be able to mention “balance” and “character specific builds” in the same sentence, at least with any merit.

no you get rewarded for doing something the game wasnt meant to do and with specific purpose. really just think of 16 mines and 8 Gatling turrets. you havent probably seen it yet. i have seen 6 Gatling turrets that where strategically placed and realized it was really cheap, ok what about say 8 caltrops placed one on top of another? you don’t think if you could strategically place 8 caltrops directly outside of the spawn in container city would be wrong? thats probably an ohk. plus then you are bottle necked into going to the other side which would be riddle with those 8 people and their 8 strategically placed sticky bombs all ADS just waiting for you to peek your ugly head out.

i mean if you have a good communicating team that all played the same class the outcome is almost always cheap, especially on defense.

what might not be strong by1x is always 8 times as powerful 8x.

I have no idea how come I’m quoted because you’ve missed the point entirely.

As for whatever it is you were trying to say… I am dumbfounded.

This ^. I really have to ask mr xbox to explain how allowing all unlocks will screw with the game lol. If anything it will encourage people to play more than just their 1 character specific class that they load in with…

PS DA, I remember having some long close thread speculative arguments on this issue pre-release with yourself and toka. Yep, now ima say it… I TOLDJA SOOOO lol xD!

I’ll admit when I’m wrong, this was definitely an “I told you so” moment

(its al bout security) #20

just think if any team… is slightly organized they will hit you with the cheaoest crap ever, like 8 gatling turrets all surrounding your spawn then they sit right behind the turrets… yer screwed man.
