Not to be a “one upman” man, but I would like to share a couple of objective opinions on this if I may. Stay calm, this is not a bad post.

*Lowlife made a full conversion of TRAM (without drastic changes)and in the readme he gave full/ALL credit to the original author of TRAM.

*You guys made a chopped up version of temple and changed alot in the map and gave no credit even in the ‘private stage’ for which the map was meant.

  • The addition to the Arena file was a nice gesture and I am sure that it makes some people feel better.
    —But all be it,=> 2 different situations that only a near-sighted person could see similarities. - I think you guys have learned what is not appreciated.

Also, I think MLB has not mentioned anything further because;
What are they to say that u guys don’t already know from this thread ?

P.S. To me…it’s not the fact that something wrong was done…it was the intentions behind it. Examples: [Almost as if ya took a BigMac and mushed it, then put mustard on it and called it a “non-McDonald’s” burger…but then re-tracted the name and apologized when someone complained.] or [robbing a your friends wallet and then only admitting to it after his girlfriend says she saw you do it] *-That is what I feel the problem amounts to: lack of dignity, respect and the appreciation for fellow mappers’ work.

Either way…I think you guys have gotten the point…

Doesn’t matter, NO PERMISSION WAS OBTAINED!!!

Partial BS, The fact that it is chopped up is one of the drawbacks of decompiling BUT, when I announced that we were working on Temple Sniper Remix on July 8th at the server I play at, EVERYONE who knew about it at the time KNEW it was an MLB map.

Who doesn’t know Desert Temple?

Stop trying to muddy the water, they are the same. NO PERMISSION WAS OBTAINED FOR EITHER MAP.

I neither have the time or desire to waste any further effort on this.

Believe what you want.

Regardless, when Mega and I release another map, you can be assured it will be all original, and we will include a .map file in each and every map we create.

The security by obscurity thing is going by the wayside buddy…

Doom 3’s editor already allows full access to the source of any map, you think ET Quake Wars, which is built on that engine, is going to be any different? Better start looking for a game that has a closed map source, oh wait, there aren’t going to be any…

Dude, all the maps we create, however original and artistic make none of us a cent UNLESS by chance we get hired by a game company. Might as well try and be a rock star.

And either way, it was none of your business to begin with…

I think you missed that portion.

I feel I was in no way ‘obscure’. I explained myself calmly, validly and clearly. That sentence really holds no relevance towards me or 99 percent of us.

It effected the whole community…I am part of it, please deal with that.

about lowlifes action(s) you better talk to him as this discussion is about your sniper version of temple.
and as stated in this thread there has been plenty of debates around this issue(s) before. personally I feel enough is enough.
i think all actions made and stated in this thread has its own obvious and clear answers/solutions.

M8DNephelim, you seem to be one of the only level headed posters in this thread.

With that in mind, we were and are willing to put this behind us…as long as we are not made out to be any worse than anyone else who has converted maps without permission.

The main issue with our map was that we supposedly gave no credit to the original author, which is TOTALLY false.

Whether we put it the .arena or a .txt file is irrelevant, we gave credit where credit was due.

Now i finally tried this fabulous templesnipermap, and all i can say is, please dont mention MLB or my name in any future releases, i really
dont want people to think i have anything to do with this ugly socalled “conversion”.

But in the good tradition of Desert Temple, you should make at least 3 finals.

In retrospect, a lot of the map was ugly as hell. I guess when you
spend long stretches of time mapping, your judgment tends to slip.
After a while I just wanted to get the thing worthy of a first release
and worry about the rest later.

Decompiles aren’t perfect. You have the cracks in the terrain, no phong
shading, etc. I realized this early on and said screw it, it won’t be perfect,
so I concentrated a little more on functionality and sniper-friendliness.

I was going to continue work on it and clean up the errors that I kept
finding, but this whole business pretty much ruined any fun I had playing
this map, and I got sick of looking at it. I’ve since started work on something
else and I doubt I’ll bother updating TS in the near future. Besides, starting
from scratch is way easier, as decompiled map files are very pissy at times.

I tossed around the idea of doing an “inspired by” map, with some Temple-esque
architecture and layouts. From scratch of course, that way nobody can complain
and I won’t have to put anyone’s name on it that doesn’t want it there. It seems
a good alternative to going back and trying to fix all the errors in TS, and it would
probably be a better tribute as far as looks go.
