Temperature/Fan/Voltage Readouts during game play

(Ghetalion) #1

Pentium 4
Asus P4PE w/ Intel 845PE chipset
512MB DDR RAM
One processor fan
Gainwood AGP Card that is a Ti 4400 w/ Forceware Drivers

Normal operation is this:

CPU Temp: 109F
MB Temp: 95F
Fan: 4000ish RPM
12v: 11.84

While running ET, my specs increase a WHOLE lot
After 10 minutes of game play

CPU Temp: 140F (!!!)
MB Temp: 100F
Fan: 4500ish RPM
12v: 11.264 (!!!)

The CPU temperature showed no signs of decreasing temperature as game play continued

And my 12v was stuck at the 11.264v spot… this is a significant problem.

What can I do to elevate it? New power supply?

Man you’re complaining about 60C when you’re playing? My PC never goes below 60C !!
Hell I had to UNDERclock my PC so that it would stop shutting down every 5 minutes :frowning:
Anyways, it’s normal for a temperature jump like that when you run intense programs. You shouldn’t really worry about it.
Though, you could look into water cooling

Its not that the jump is bad

Its that the temperature continues to up and up until my computer resets midgame.

Not to mention my 12v is almost an entire 1v off of where it should be.

I’m looking to stablize these issues.

Voltage have a ~10% play at most.

CPU overheating… Are you OC’ing? If not you have a very bad air deficient case. I suggest getting a better cooling solution like adding fans, changing your CPU heatsink and fan or the best, watercooling (that’s what I have though the CPU waterblock is BO and I’m waiting for it).

P4 shouldn’t generate as much heat. I’m pretty surprised by that. I run an AMD Barton 2500 OC’ed at more than 200 MHz over stock and it runs at 42-43C idle, 50C full demand. 60 is high for P4. AMDs run hotter than P4 on most cases.

What you can do is first, check Asus’s site for BIOS updates and then failing a better BIOS, email them and tell them about the voltage and CPU overheating. They’ve got a good support, shouldn’t take very long to get an answer. You might have a defective board.

Just to make certain, make sure the program you’re using to get those values is PcProbe by Asus and then compare with other programs. MB5 is a good program. If you use a different program given by Asus it might read the temperature wrongly.

Ya, I got the newest BIOS.

I’m using Asus Probe 2. I’ll try MB5.

My case is pretty sealed, granted, but these readouts are with one half of the case opened completely… (the half farthest from the MoBo mounting)

I’ll try Asus and see what they say.

Having a sealed case is not a bad thing in itself if you have good airflow.

I know that with my old case, I had better ventilation WITH the side panel on.

Hopefully it’s a simple thing…

Edit: With side panel on, not without

Guys, get some good cooling. My PC on 100% load is 35° CPU and 21° system. I use an aero 7 lite on an AMD 1800+ overclocked to 2400+.

Yep, open cases are only usefull if your PCs air flow aint too great…

Tidy cables, Cut cables, Wrapped cables, Directed fans, Regular cleaning etc can all help increase the Air Flow inside.
