Teamplay "A Matter of Class" in New Brink Trailer

(3Suns) #81

LOL at Seyu. I came back to this thread just now, to post a link to the RPS coverage (simply because I respect the people who comment there more than most places). Anyway, this is the first comment:

This is looking blinding. I am one of the very few who don’t like TF2 but this looks like it fixes all the issues I have with that game and then some.

and the first reply to that comment:
I’m the same. I didn’t get into TF2 the way I did the original team fortress and now that its a novelty hat-em up I’m less inclined to fire it up. Brink is really looking splendid.

followed by a negative comment and then this:

I’ve already got this pre-ordered. Im also hoping it’ll become my next multiplayer fix.

Anyway, yeah, it must be your dislike for TF2 that is coloring your read of the comments, because they are generally positive.

Similarly on the Destructoid coverage.

Cheers! :stroggtapir:

Great job my ass. The video sucked.
Only showing staged gameplay, making people think this is just a TF2 clone.

Way to go SD and Bethesda to ‘promote’ a game.

This was as brilliant as any generic detergent commercial.

Oh, and what happened to 17th of May?

(H0RSE) #83

Oh, and what happened to 17th of May?

What do you mean what “happened to it?” As far as I know, it still comes every year.

(system) #84

Oh, it’s 17th for US and 20th for EU.

Is this directed at me?
I’m not sure who I was directing it at. I was trying to read about the new video and it looked like someone was being a major troll. But I was so tired I was almost delirious.
Nope, that’s console thing
What’s the point of even being able to bring that up on screen like that when you can use the numberpad?

Also Brink’s “wheel” changes based on the mission status and what’s happening in the field… you can’t expect it to be some weird menu system. The wheel can fill in and it’s easy to use. And once you learn what the icons mean you can probably access it in a second without reading anything. So what’s wrong with the wheel?

(JeP) #88

I think it’s too big for them.

Yeah, the wheel has the ability to act like a pie chart while also being an easy point and click interface. I see no reason why it should be limited to consoles.

I love this video!

I love it… It looks like a “buttload” (Not a standard unit of quantitative measurement) of fun.

(X-Frame) #91

Real, un-edited gameplay next please.

(Nex) #92

And more of the parkour movement…plox

but really, my guess is that the next video will show SMART moves and something with it, maybe game modes…

(X-Frame) #93

I want to see examples the difference between holding down the SMART button entirely throughout the movements vs. doing it manually, see just how much of an advantage it is.

(H0RSE) #94

What makes you think they would ever make a video for that?

“Hey, check out this awesome one button movement system we have - SMART! Oh, if you actually perform the moves manually, totally bypassing the system, you can have greater control over your movements and you can perform them more efficiently.”

(LastGun) #95

i think they should show a full blown out custimazation trailer. (showing diffrent textures etc.) or they could do things about the challanges and show how hard they can get.

Actually, yes that sounds great – especially if they wanted to arouse the attention of more competitive players.

Will they? Probably not – but I do expect that to be one of the first tutorials done when the game (or demo) is released.

First thing that got disabled :stroggbanana:

This was, by far, my favorite trailer.

Technically the SMART really isn’t a “button”, it’s the whole concept of the engine calculating the terrain vs the body type’s capabilities. Whenever you press jump or crouch SMART is still in effect, so it’s not negating the system at all. The button merely takes the calculation out of the user’s hands and does it all automatically.

So showing what the system is capable of when used to its fullest would be really good.

Hopefully at that point you guys will stop complaining all the time and just play the game.
