the radial objective wheel is proof enough of Brink for pc being a console port.
Doesn’t Quake Wars have a radial menu?

I think outside of the forums it’s just the QW players who get what this game is about?
I read the Kotaku one Seyu. There wasn’t a single bad word in there. It was all objective informative info only.
I need to start writing down a list of people that post on here who I need to just ignore because at 3AM “certain” people make no sense.
Well it’s not 3am in the entire world, you may want to know that.
…wait a minute, nevermind
(sry for the off-topic)
I wasn’t talking about the editors who posted the video on the sites, in case that is what you assumed.
"Was considerably more interested in this game before this team fortress clone trailer.
They gave us RTCW…then Quake Wars. Not exactly holding my breath after that trailer.
Nice. Can we expect the Pyro, the Heavy and the Scout as DLC??
Dear god, I hope that radial menu is not in the PC version. Developers need to learn there all they do is annoy PC gamers.
Why would they care? It’s a console port where the PC markets just act as auxiliary sales anyways. I can only think of a VERY small handful of developers that still make actual PC games instead of console ports.
alright, so everyone is apparently ignoring the tf2 formula in there. I’m not saying it’s going to be a bad thing, but at least acknowledge it’s a tf2 clone.
I played Brink at Eurogamer expo and I was pretty underwhelmed by it. Playing medic was like playing TF2 medic, only less fun. It’s not a bad game, it just feels like it’s about five years too late to the co-operative team based shooter market. "
Is this directed at me?
"…most of the response comments in the gaming blogs are positive…"
I’ll disagree

ok, i read all of the comments, and still most of the responses are possitive. Yes some ppl are not crazy about the objective wheel crying console game (im one of them actually) and a lot of ppl who are obviously not familiar with Splash damage previous games are comparing it to TF2, but most of them saying it’s a good thing 'cause they love TF2.
this comment made me lol
GUYS! HEY! GUYS! I’M DISGUISING MYSELF! GUYS! HEY! EVERYONE! I’M DISGUISED NOW! OK? EVERYONE OK WITH THAT? WITH THE FACT THAT I’M NOW DISGUISED? COOL!
****, he shot me. However did he know?
Why would a radial menu be against PC gaming’s nature? Surely the benefits would translate just as well to the mouse.
Why would a radial menu be against PC gaming’s nature? Surely the benefits would translate just as well to the mouse.
Because it takes up 85%+ of the screen? With a mouse I can click on stuff precisely. I don’t have to use a crappy D-Pad to select objectives. Hell I can spam M to cycle through missions (in most games, as was with ET:QW). God, I hope we can turn off that radial menu to a nice side list.
trigg3r, then I guess it’s just me who’s getting worked up over people likening it to TF2.
I think assigning the middle mouse button to bring the radial objective will work fine.

That’s what Rahdo said it was.
I misunderstood Seyu - thought you were saying that game sites were bagging it.
I don’t like the comparisons to TF2 either, but I put it down to ignorance and still don’t take too much notice of it. Remember all the whiners - they still buy things. L4D2 boycott anyone? There are so many screen shots of the Steam Group for the boycott with heaps of players playing L4D2 lol.
I was hoping the objective wheel (and the comms station class selection wheel) would be toned down too, but it is transparent so I can live with it.
That may be the case for the big ones like Bioware, Valve and Blizzard but for a relatively lesser known studio which is releasing it’s new IP, word of mouth is crucial.
Nope
lol, it still takes up the screen, so whats the point? The radial menu takes up more of the screen? Oh the horror…
During battle, you don’t even need the radial menu… and it certainly isn’t a required function to play the game. A simple tap will automatically select the most important mission, meaning you barely, if ever, need to see the menu. Once you get used to the game, the objectives and side missions will become second nature. The menu is there as a guide and aid, not as a requirement.
