Team swapping

(Tom2160) #1

Today I was playing a balanced game. There were three level 30+ players on defenders and two players 30+ on the attackers team, but the level 30+ on my side decided to change teams onto his friends side which turned the match into a stomp since it left me with a bunch of sub-level 10 players against 4 level 30+ players on a team.

I know that level doesn’t mean everything, but its just ridiculous how these fools think its a good idea to have 4 experienced players play against a bunch of sub-level 10s and me.

So can we have this ability disabled seeing as it can so easily be abused to ruin a game…

while i understand your plight, disabling team switching sounds absolutely horrible. The best balancing that can be done is by people switching to even things out. I would basically have to /disconnect from many servers if i cant switch, cause stomping noobs and basically fighting against my teammates for who gets the kill can be incredibly boring.

Although a balanced match might be fun, but to be honest, sometimes stomping is fun. Let’s be honest.

I am prepared to against the world.

(SaulWolfden) #4

I don’t ever enjoy stomping or being stomped, it’s not a challenge in either case for the winning team.

However team switching should continue to exist, sometimes it’s actually used when someone switches over if one team has 2 or more people than the other team.

(GatoCommodore) #5

@Tom there are more people using team switch for noble reason than you think

(Szakalot) #6

everyone likes great personal moments. But constantly waiting for opponents to spawn? Boring.

(prismaticDinosaur) #7

He’s right. This is abused way too often, most of the time be socalled “veterans”. Of course one might argue that this is a problem of the community, but where do we get with that train of thought?

(GatoCommodore) #8

well in rank they probably turn off the ability to teamswitch.
soo… wait for ranked

(Herr_Hanz) #9

veterens have played a lot, meaning they hav e alot of friends playing DB, and since playing with friends > balanced match you get veterens turning games into (what could be) stomps by team switching

(AlphaUT) #10

Not so surprised with a lot of disagree. But I don’t hide, I don’t think hiding it is good, I think it is a shame. At least I am honest LOL

But when I say stomping, that’s when I with my friends, alone in a match, I prob will prefer balanced. Simple because of the fun of stomping people alone is a huge different than stomping people with friends while in the discord sharing some funning things with them. Like, “sh it, I missed that one.” or " stop fooling around while I am carrying your ass"

The conversation is what makes stomping fun.

If you’re a hatemongering, agitative personality. Each for themselves I guess. I find one-sided matches boring and frustrating on both sides, I play a lot for the missions and if enemy cannot even leave the spawn there’s not going to be much points to be scored.

That being said having an ability to switch teams in a hop in-drop out server type is NOT the issue, imbeciles deliberately seeking for stomps are. Switch team function is just fine. Heck some people don’t even think things completely through and accidentally tilt the balance without intention of doing so in the first place.

Here’s a quite an old video from Dazz showing exactly that type of ill-judged switch and just as equally thoughtless and rash reaction of mine to it. Play dirty, but don’t be dicks!

Sometimes swapping can be annoying…can’t tell you how many times I join a team to try and even things out only to see some loser jump ship to the winning team to make things more uneven again.

But I don’t think we can just disable it…sometimes it actually does help…like the voting system…but often times like everything else it fails…just have to learn to deal with it. “shrugs”

Remember to play ranked when it comes back, it doesn’t have team swapping.

And then that potential level 1 becoming a long time player just got shot down. As mutch as i like the ocasional stomping to chalange my self to improve i dont like watching my entire team rage quiting and potentialy uninstalling the game. Lets hope that the new match making thing works somewhat better than the current system.9

What’s wrong with Company of Undaunted and Noble Trustees? :smirk:

Manual switch is the only way you can actually balance games. Shuffle is broken and you should never use it. Although manual switch can be abused, it should be kept. I use it when I feel I can balance things. Not always.

Yes, stomps will occur from time to time. When it happens, I just train my aim, my timings.
It’s almost enjoyable sometimes, when all your team is stomped and you surprise your dicks opponents with a spawn pineapple.

Also, I know it may feel bad for new players but we all have been one and did not quit. I can say that facing high skilled players helped me a lot improving my skills and I feel very satisfied when I now win fights vs those high LVL I see playing in DB Nation. It’s painful but I would not have learnt that much without them.

Player retention will balance high level games more often since there will be more high level players to match against each other instead of the weekly waves of FoBs.

  1. join a server
  2. get placed in the team with the fewest players
  3. get shittalked for stacking the teams
  4. FeelsBadMan
