Team killing

(Wraith) #1

I have heard that friendly fire can be turned on and off is there any other preventative measures to stop people for TK’ing their teammates?

(trigg3r) #2

lol i played UT3 with friendly fire once, it was fun for like 10 minutes, after that everyone starts to rage.

So, even if it’s possible i doubt i’ll be playing in a server with friendly fire on

(madoule) #3

basically that could the be HC mode a few guys have been demanding … or the cure.
There you go, reduced health and OHK… (thanks to your team!) =D

(Spaiker) #4

No problems with TK’ing. When you are a team, you don’t TK, you don’t shoot with an ally in front of you. If you do because you want the kill, go play cod for christ sake…

(Bullveyr) #5

TK on ftw

with revives accidental TKs are less problematic anyway

(Nail) #6

never played W:ET with FF off, played DF 2 a couple times with FF off, didn’t like it

(Weapuh) #7

Having TK off kinda hurt obj games. (Plus it would kind of ruin the operative class’ disguise :S) but if there is no danger of TK you can spam nades and grenade launchers into your own guys when they are defending somewhere with no consequences (which kinda sucks to attack into). Like Bullveyr said, Revives help this issue anyways

One of the things I really disliked about Bad Company 2 (xbox) was that you couldn’t change settings. You could either play normal mode, or hardcore - there was no between. With Brink having the option for FF on/off, I can play how I want (FF on) without having to compromise any other settings.

As for TK’s - aside from the occasional griefer, I think FF adds so much to the game.

(amazinglarry) #9

I’ll echo Nail, Weapuh and H0RSE’s comments here by saying Friendly Fire On is the way to go. Naturally I’d like to see each server have the ability to have their own settings that aren’t super restrictive… but if for any reason I’m forced to play an objective based game with ff off, then I won’t be playing. Few things more frustrating than a team being able to run through their own artillery, nades, hyperblasters et al.

Complaint system works well to some degree… albeit when you don’t need an overwhelming number of votes to pass it since half the team can’t pay enough attention to begin with, let alone hit f1 or f2 and listen to a reason why the vote is up.

(Mad Hatter) #10

Well with Brink it probably won’t be quite as annoying, but I know that in some games out there today FF is awful. Nothing like getting killed by your own team’s grenade spam as you try to take an objective, or having people move in front of you while you’re shooting at someone, then die and blame you. And that’s not even taking into account the griefers that just TK for teh lulz. Which there are a depressingly large number of.

So yeah, I’m glad it’s an optional thing. But for the opposite reason of you guys, apparently. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Humate) #11

While its understandable that FF on isn’t forced, what happens is players develop bad habits and then bring these into servers where FF is actually on.

I wonder if SD have kept their complaint voting system for TKs.

People should learn not to shoot you in the back when you are trying to kill some enemy!

It really isn’t helpfull to shoot a rocket at someone who has 1 hp left when because I was fighting him and it takes us both out.
This still happends and I always think wtf is this guy thinking shooting a Rocket at me when the enemy would have died by 1 more bullet anyway?

I would hope that FF ON would eventually make them learn it is not helpfull.

I vote for FF ON ftw

(amazinglarry) #13

Yeah, basically it’s been said already but I like to reiterate - FF on forces your team to play better and smarter. Sure, it’s frustrating when a teammate is just tossing nades for no reason especially when you’re trying to complete an objective and it ends up killing you… but I’d rather have that, than try to complete an objective where the other team is just tossing nades into each other, and any confusion you create has no affect on them because they can’t hurt each other.

Basically, it flows both ways. Smarter play leads to better opportunities to complete the objectives, which includes forcing the other team into taking an extra risk to stop you, which may end up in a TK for them, that benefits your team etc.

Pure griefers are typically easy to deal with, though - since MOST people want a fair, even and balanced game… and somebody TKing purposefully on either team makes the entire game less fun.

But then again, I probably have too much faith in fellow gamers to correctly police ourselves…

XBox Live is the Wild West, except a frightening number of the gunslingers are kids.

(madoule) #15

billy the kid’s descendants… (OF DEATH!!! :oppressor: )

(X-Frame) #16

In a perfect world FF-ON will force your teammates to play smarter and more careful, but unfortunately I rarely see that as true. KZ2 playing with FF-ON was a nightmare.

In Brink, is it 100% ON or OFF? Or can you alter the percentage? I think 50% FF-ON would be a good setting.

(Nail) #17

on or off, default is off

(BioSnark) #18

Last I heard, this was tied in with open team voip in an ‘advanced’ mode. f1 @both

(Kinjal) #19

I wonder, if FF is on, the TK will be count as death in statistics or not.

(BioSnark) #20

I really hope it does and I won’t have to play with people who care about stats.
