Then you’re simply recreating Quake DM or similar games. I like that style (still play Deathmatch Classic occasionally), but DB is just a different cookie, I don’t think it would work.

Team Deathmatch is honestly my least favorite mode in any first person shooter it is in… unfortunately when a game starts to die out… this is all people will really play, abandoning other game modes. If people still do play other game modes, it’s a lot less than those playing team deathmatch. I just find it way too mindless and uninteresting.

Objective based gameplay is like a fine meal cooked by a michelin starred chef. TDM is mcdonalds served on a plate found in the restroom

How do you figure? Just because it’s basically a DM in pubs doesn’t mean it would be in actual coordinated play.

I could totally see some fun uses of all the mercs in a team if the Execution maps were set up right for them, some cool strats, and etc… Just like how the casual 10v10 mode being basically tdm doesn’t make the real competitive defuse mode a TDM in CS. (This also applies to basically any team based shooter)

Execution in pubs being DM =/= ExExution being a DM.

So you want to remove engineers from play then? Because what the F is the point of an engineer in tdm when another fragger would be preferable 1000% of the time. There are plenty of shit games if you want tdm.

Proxys mines would be great (on some maps regardless, also speed and the feel of scout from tf2 or whatever

Fletcher, because sticky nades

BW, because turret

Even if some classes arent used on one game mode its not bad

Its not as if the second this one game mode comes out it will be the only one played, nobody will force you to play it (maybe missions but you can cancel those)

I’m sorry if someone has already said it but the devs confirmed there will be no TDM in DB ever. They wanna stick to objective based gamemodes I’m pretty sure.

This would be great, I would love to get the people who only care about KD out of the regular game mode. I’m sick of seeing C4 go undefended (or detonate if defending) because someone wants to protect their KD.

youve clearly never used mines on bridge defence, or rushed into a crowd of people and dropped one. i mean sure you die in the second one but youll almost always take two with you

this too, youll get rid of the mlgl337noscopes in objectives

everyones argument against this seems to be “I wont play it so no dont do it” or “Engineers will be worthless because im not creative with deployable placement”

Not to be a smart ass but eliminating the enemy team is an “objective” which the game mode execution is mostly.

The only time the bomb is planted in execution is when the team doesn’t watch the choke points or communicate.

However I think TDM is DB is just going to be boring. I think domination would be way much cooler.

A domination type game mode would work because the capture points are objectives, they already have the ability to set capture points since they have that forward spawn on Terminal for instance.

Implying games with a TDM mode are a CoD clone?

What makes CoD- CoD isn’t the fact it has a TDM mode. (In fact most of the “high level” players play search and destroy) it’s the floaty movement, the instant ADS aim assist the second you see someone, and it’s horrible balance. At least ever since after CoD WAW.

The majority of fps games have a TDM mode, CS, Quake, Halo, Battlefield, etc. (Who all have big objective based modes)

Howeveeeer. The majority of class based objective based shooters dont Why? Not because of the objectives like everyone keeps saying. No, it’s because of the classes. A TDM mode will destroy class balance and the only way it can work is with a whole new class being made for that specific mode. Which is just more work than its worth.

Absolutely. I’d just like them to have their own little flair - Dirty Bomb does really well at feeling different to other FPS games, I’d just hate for our next game mode to be as simple as TDM. That said, I’m not against killing other players being the objective (@Blackfro :wink: ) I’d just rather it be done a little smarter. Gun game, for instance (where getting a kill changes the weapon you’re using) was a nice twist on traditional straight up death match.

Really, though, Dirty Bomb’s pace and style just lends itself so much better to modes like capture the flag or king of the hill. They’d be hectic, but there would be purpose to the match - as soon as you make kills the only thing that matters, it’s hard for me to feel invested.
