Im sure people have suggested this before, and for all i know its already in the works, but could you add a fourth gamemode for team deathmatch? it could use the same maps as objectives/stopwatch, maybe even executions maps too with some new ones, games last 15 minutes and the team that kicks the most teeth in wins.
Team deathmatch gamemode
There are plenty of characters who use objectives for strategy.
Objectives force Defender/Attacker team to do something such as defending C4s.
So this is why Aura’s healing station and Bush’s turret, Proxy’s mine works well. ALSO Assault’s explosives, and Fire Support’s AoE skills.
at TD? There is no reason to go specific position to do something unlike objective mode, just killing people.
Most abilities are useful, and have their own usage timing because objectives decide which routes are going to used by enemies.
Like everyone goes for the barricade room in Underground, whole bunch of Defender engineers rush to defuse C4, etc.
If there is no Objectives, you have no reason to pass certain route with mines and turrets deployed. no reason to put down your healing station at specific place to defend.
Thus, if TD comes out, I’m quite sure everyone’s gonna play Assaults because they are only merc-class that is specialized killing.

To give a TLDR before the response, if they add a new game mode that doesnt mean the entire game will be that game mode and you dont have to play it, and they can snip parts of maps out for the ‘arena’, and classes picked will still vary based on what map it is.
To address classes first, every class will be useful in a TD, possibly even more so than in objectives in some cases.
Using Proxy as an example on underground. Let’s say that, instead of the whole map, there is only a section of the map to fight in. Lets just say it is the first stage, you need to plant the first C4 before you go down the escalators in objectives.
You can still mine that tunnel, the elevators, and the escalators by the spawns on either side.
Every class is good at killing, and can be useful in a TD. There is absolutely no ability in this game currently that you cant rack up a metric crapload of kills with. Exceptions being i suppose Kira or Arty in underground, but thats more an issue with the map than the gamemode.
its not like everyone in the game would instantly start going for a TD if its added, just like not everyone plays the counter strike mode.
TD would probably be very welcome to more casual players compared to objectives, since objectives can last from five to twenty five minutes at times. i can see the thought process of “I have a set amount of time, im going to hop on dirty bomb for a bit shoot some dudes for 15 minutes then go back to whatever”
More variety, be it giving us a TD gamemode a CTF game mode or whatever other gamemode you can think of will never be a bad thing. Sure, more kill classes will be seen in it than objectives, but it will still mostly be down to the map what class you pick

i agree, the two dont need to be mutually exclusive.
We could add a CTF, king of the hill, CP, TD and Free for all.

You could go out there and keeellll people and do dem objectives.
Domination (basically capture 3 flags). That would be great and quite different from the current objective modes.
Could possibly use existing maps? Or are they too linear? Also spawning needs to be entirely reworked. Because you need to spawn near a friendly flag.

they could just recycle the same maps but slice them up.
Like, with trainyard as an example slice it to the three stages and select one stage for the arena

No. TDM should never set foot on DB like ever. Execution is bad enough. New game modes should still focus on team play.

i highly doubt anything but team play would win a team deathmatch, i mean sure youd probably get teams turtling in a room but still its teamwork
@Ballto one high lvl with a fragger will probably stomp the entire lobby, highest form of teamwork in tdm would prob be a fragger/sawbonez combination.

There is little to nothing about teamwork on TDM. And i played quite a few fps. People just do whatever they want. Game mode like domination, that require a little coordination if you want to keep the checkpoints, make much more sense for DB.

Implying Execution doesn’t focus on team play? And as if the majority of team based games don’t have a death match mode simply to brush up on your shooting?
I’d love to see more objective based modes, but a real DM could be a good way to just wind down or sharp up your shooting skills. In CS there’s a death match mode- And yet it doesn’t control the whole player base into that mode.
Personally don’t mind it either way, but a DM mode would be the simplest mode to import into the game. Though it’s not as important imo as more real game modes.
I can’t here disagree, nor agree… I would like to give a shot to TDM, I mean it was once a game mode as I remember from one older DB video…
So, yeah I would like to try TDM in Dirty Bomb, but it probably wouldn’t be anything special, and would stick to objective anyways…
The classes of the game don’t fit standard modes. They just don’t. Some will be broken OP, and some nearly useless.
Sawbonez will be a great guy for TDM, same for Phoenix. Aura will be useless as hell in modes like DM and FFA.
And they won’t make modes where classes are useless coughReconscough.
Also, @Ballto Can you somehow confirm your statement about TDM already being WIP? I highly doubt it since we got said multiple times TDM will never come to Dirty Bomb.
there was a TDM mode in DirtyBomb already, and it failed hard. there was realy nothing to it.
IN quake TDM plays around items - RedArmor, Megahealth, Quaddamage etc. so a team need to hold one area, and to attack another area when time comes. If there are no items - TDM will not work.

I didnt mean it was already a WIP, i meant it MIGHT be for all i know and i just didnt read it or hear about it.
will some classes be better than others? of course, but we see this already on a map to map basis.
no class is worthless in any game mode, but some will always do better than others on certain maps. some classes wil ldo better than others on different maps, regardless of game mode
A TDM mode with pickups (and even better a mirrored map) isn’t simply TDM, it’s an arena TDM and is by far the best type of TDM. As it encourages map control and teamplay.
Arena TDM could work with DB. Though it’d be best if they’d just create a simple character for it that starts with a pistol and has to go around picking up weapons. Oh wait then it might become a totally different game…
Team Fortress 2 Classic is actually making an Arena TDM that works in this way with a new merc simply named “Mercenary” You spawn with the common pistol and need to go around picking up rocket launchers, shotguns, etc.
