Team balance isn't great at the moment :(
Woo, glad you noticed it…After people already made tons of threads about this major issue which were mostly ignored by SD. But yeah. You’re totally right.
My question is how on earth did a balance flaw this huge even become a possibility in a team based game like this?
I think what needs to be implemented is a forced skill balancer where if one team accrues an overall skill rating 20% higher than an auto skill shuffle occurs.
To start with it should just be based on if there is an imbalance greater than one it will shift the player on the bigger team that has played the least amount of time.
Beside the autobalance in-game, I would also consider some sort of “make servers that are having an unbalanced number of players (based on each team) a priority to join”.
Why that?
Because yesterday I had a game where it was 4vs6 for like 9 minutes. I really doubt no one tried to join a game for 9 whole minutes. Ironically, two people entered the server 5 seconds before we lost.
every match is either the enemy team is super strong and you get rekt or your team is super strong and recks them… played 300+ hours never ever saw a balanced match. the only kinda balanced matches are the minimum level 10 ones…

Having played with that sort of setting, that just leads to whenever you join a new server you auto-lose the first game.
Matchmaking would eventually eliminate this in almost every scenario surprisingly.
People suggesting it as the fix to matchmaking are wrong is my point, speaking from experience.
What kind of sucks about the system is that if you have somebody with a crazy high public ELO rating the game will try to offset this by putting more competent players on the other team. And in many cases a player will end up fighting a very competent team vs. one pretty highly skilled player with a bunch of cannon fodder behind them. Which can be frustrating if you aren’t that higher skilled player and you end up on their team because you’ll probably get stomped every time you play even if you “win” because the other team has better players overall and you’re being carried by the one player.
But that’s how it goes. It’s a public match and sometimes you simply can’t properly balance because there isn’t a very good method of doing it. It’s been discussed on this forum tons of times.
Of course there are also some people that always think they lost because the balance system is screwed up or their teammates suck. A mentality that caught my attention in a different genre but has apparently shifted into FPS games as well during my time away from the FPS scene.
I just realised that the picture you have shown is when your just returned to a lobby.
teams haven’t even been made yet! there is still 54 seconds till the next round!
PROPAGANDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
EDIT: wait, they are already in a game, your joining!!

Don’t you love when life challenges you?
i agree the balance mechanic is pretty wonky, sometimes i get put in a match with me being the only player aka 100% winning chance for me… horrible balance is horrible
But on a more serious note, while true balance will never happen an auto balance system to even the team would be great. I have seen way too many 6vs4, 8vs6 matches.

Yeah, we need more visual bug in screens in a serious discussion!
“Team unbalance” is rarely the case in public games, it’s peoples’ choices in team comp and positioning that determine games.
Sure, you can get the rare game where they are all lvl 5-12 and then a random lvl 60+ that carries that hell out of a game, but it’s few and far between.
The issue is one team has an above proportionate amount of people with bad skill at positioning as well as dueling, and even the proper know-how to utilise their chosen mercs against the opposite team.
Great example, I was in a game of Trainyard where it became clear that we had no hope of winning the first stage. At one point I was going towards the right ramp, and a Sparks sprinted past me, around the corner, and got gunned down by 3 people.
It was such a stupid display I just had to type in chat about how that’s literally the opposite of what you’re supposed to do as Sparks. And you know what, next attempt, the player waited for me to go in first. And we actually killed the defenders. We got murdered anyways when the rest of the team came over, but it’s a great example.
