tactics and strategy for brink

(its al bout security) #1

so im trying to come up with tactics and strategy mostly for the maps of brink. ill make a section fro each map and ill let you guys fill in the blanks (if it sounds like it works) these will probably be used on the community game nights so come up with your best idea
resistance

security
container city:
First Objective - rush the window at the gate and shoot enemies.
operative rush the side door
refuel:

sec tower:

ship yard:

reactor:

resort:

aquarium:

terminal:

my tips for command posts: if you see a downed teamate near a command post switch to medic and revive them its that simple. every one should have buff command post as you can switch to engy buff the command post switch back and walk off.

so tell me what do you think… lend us some ideas here :stroggbanana:

Container city - First Objective - Either team - Get to the small square window at the gate first. Usually whoever gets here first can lay down suppressing fire enough to throw the balance of the game in their teams favour.

(Zanchile) #3

CCity: light change to operative before match starts and sprint to hack the side door.

Good thread. Let me put some thoughts down on paper. Flexing fingers for Wall o Text.

wolf drop it on me!

I am…I have been lost in the ESL Comp rules thread. Sorry. I will come up with some stuff!

(its al bout security) #8

aah i quit reading them, if they had comps for xbox they would be MLG not ESL soo… plus i DESPISE ESL RULES. to da bones they are rediculose they take the skill curve away! if you want to disable these all you have to do is kill the guy on the ground

One strategy to win them all.

Have your whole team equip carb-9.

Close thread.

thats a really dumb idea.

no range to it! if our whole team was heavy and mingun we would all be undefeatable!

you can miss with 1600 rounds launched at you from all directions!

plus i have never seen a cross map kill with that ugly piece of crud gun.

and thats not a real tactic/ strategy protaining to maps at all

Tip for the attacking faction on all maps: rush objective. Kill anyone removing your progress toward objective before anyone else in the area, even if you have to kamikaze. Keep objective classes alive.

Tip for the defending faction on all maps: keep them back. Kill anyone working on an objective before anyone else in the area, even if you have to kamikaze. Camp.

Semi-sarcastic, mostly truth.

+1, Wolfmeister - I loves me a ‘list-post’ - wo0t!

Container City & Resort: Defending Team: Shoot the damn bot!! Seriously don’t concentrate on the people around it, shoot the bot until its drained of health, it slows the opponent team down no end.

i think the difficulty in writing a level/strategy guide for this game (can you imagine an IGN style walkthrough with comprehensive info on level strategies, mine/turret placement, op routes, chokepoints, etc) reflects why i think it’s so damn cool (and why i’m not a big fan of COD, etc)

strategy is emergent - what is your team like? what’s the other team like? where did the bottlenecks occur? are there enough medics/engineers/soldiers on your team? etc. it’s hard to predict how a given match will play out, which means it’s hard to have a specific strategy going in… i’ve tried the same strategy at roughly the same point in different matches (turret placement, where to drop the caltrops, a good defense position, etc) and sometimes it owns, and sometimes it owns you. (and this is where playing with humans is so much more fun…the chess match between each team trying stuff to make it happen for their side, with the more skilled teams having a larger repertoire of moves, as it were)…

that said, i will certainly read any extended Tx people give the games and levels…i discover new strategies during matches with new folks, so why not from reading about what people are trying/doing…

Container City -
Resistance
Get some troops to that overlook where Security come running through from their spawn. Operatives are great for Caltrop throwing, and sniper is a must. Owning this spot you can stonewall the Resistance pretty easily.
Security -
Counter to above - light Soldier run for the door straight up so you can blow the door on the first wave. If you get it done quickly you can get the defenders on the backfoot and keep that momentum through the rest of the map.

Reactor -
Resistance
Don’t even bother trying to plant the hackbox unless you have the whole room locked down. Turrets, mines, caltrops and a few standing bodies. Operatives should always stop hacking to defend when Security comes because the tide can quickly turn in those little rooms.
Security -
Controlling the spot overlooking both terminals can work wonders - especially if most of your team is dead and you’re defending with a skeleton crew. Operative can drop Caltrops on one door and watch the other one. If you start racking up XP for Caltrop damage then head over to the other side. Also, don’t forget the ledge that runs across the front of the fan - a lot of the time attackers will be looking on the ground level or the middle bit. By the time they see you in front of the fan you’ve already had a couple of seconds to open up on them.

That’s all for now. I probably have less experience than others with full-team games, so feel-free to tell me if the above doesn’t work ‘in real life’

I’ll be following this thread closely for ideas though.

My strategy is simply to spawn camp or kill as many people as I can as quick as possible to let my team gain ground. I also pray my team is not riding the short bus that day.

There is another plausible strategy on PC. You can camp until the 280 ppl playing right now leave and you’d be the best player in Brink.

nien, if you aim with it you can kill and out dps a heavy minigun from a distance.

That’s the only strategy you need, everybody but 2 people as carb-9 wielding self-healing medics, an engineer to buff and the objective person. I finished shipyard with this in under 7-5 minutes continuously repairing and hacking and not dying because there’s no one to kill me because they’re all dead.

Why? So, if YOUR lone wolf run-n-gun kill hunting spawn camp strategy doesn’t win the battle for you, it means that your teammates are retarded?

I’m glad I had a pen and pad ready, so I won’t ever forget such beastly tactics advice…

Well, at least you don’t resort to blaming the game, itself, when you get your butt handed to you. Oh, wait…

It’s not lone wolf… it’s the smartest way to play it… push them back to the spawn with 1 man or with 7 and the other complete the objectives. Are you a short bus kid too? Because you obviously think a much better tactic is to allow them to set up and keep buffing each other and regain map control.

Obviously this will only work against people who don’t know how to flashbang.

LOL. No need to get all trollolly on me, there, riptide.

What you stated as a winning strategy was nothing but a simple lone wolf, camping, kill farming tactic.
For it to be a winning strategy, it would require the KNOWLEDGE, cooperation, and coordinated effort of the team (and for the enemy to be inexperienced and uncoordinated).

I do understand what you’re trying to say, though. That you just try to hold up the enemy long enough to let your teammates get a foothold or rev up some momentum. Still…

If you’re gonna run out all by yourself and try to spawn camp or farm kills off the enemy, then turn around and imply that all of your teammates are mentally disabled when you lose… seriously, dude, you know you need to be called out on that. Don’t you?

I thought you were joking at first, so my earlier reply was only meant in jest. However, since it appears that you’re all serious business about such a tactic, I’d have to assume that you’re not a fan of…
–ATTACKING Shipyard
–ATTACKING Container City
–ATTACKING Reactor
…if so, I think you’re missing out. My favorite maps to attack, right there.

I’d love to see gameplay of you spawn camping the defenders at Shipyard, though… sounds interesting.
