it was actually one year, and they didn’t loose that many lives! sure lots of people died and there were some risky operations but most of the time americans outnumbered germans 2:1, germans probably lost more lives than the americans on the wester front! i don’t see how a symbol should be illegal, does it provoke people to nazism? no I don’t think so! what are the going to do next ban the red flag with a gold start because its comunisim, i really don’t know why they banned the swastikas, and can’t seem to understand how some people find it racist to them!

The Swastika is a Hindu Religious Symbol adopted by the Nazis as there sign - if Hinduism is not banned in Germany then i do not see why the Swastika can not be used as a Sign in a map for ET.

It is only the Nazis that have given the Swastika a bad name - no one else , not the Hindus or Germans, since Axis is a German side - the Swastika shouldn’t have a problem in being displayed as a sign.

The swastika is banned if it’s included in 3rd reich props like flags, uniforms, etc… If you paint a swastika on a wall nobody will think of some hindu symbol. Of course it is allowed if you have some asian carpet with swastikas on it.

Man, some of you guys are so self-absorbed and insensitive. Just because the swastika doesn’t represent genocide and hatred to you, doesn’t mean that others feel the same way. History and time have molded perceptions of different symbols. Curse words could be just another combination of letters, however they have cultural stigmas attached to give them special meaning. To act like the swastika is just another symbol without any cultural implications is ignorant.

I don’t need a wolfenstein game with swastikas to feel authentic. There were many other axis symbols from the war.

I get the feeling that those that are most vocal about seeing swastikas in their games, probably share a bit of the beliefs that the symbol stands for.

Indeed, I didn’t mean to bring this whole debate, up, just wanted to let you know why it wasn’t in the multiplayer game. This isn’t really the place to debate whether that is a good thing or not.

You can find the wolfenstein ‘german’ flag in
models/multiplayer/flagpole/german.jpg

If you want to use this as a texture in game, you may have to make a copy of it under
textures/yourmapname/…
(AFAIK, only stuff under ‘textures’ shows up correctly in the editor)

I’m sure you can find plenty of swastika logos/pictures/etc on the net if you try.

You know what buddy, the reason it is banned is because of people like you. I am not Jewish and I happen to totally agree with it being banned in Germany and I am glad most people are mature enough to keep it out of this game.

Germany caused a LOT of pain and suffering with the back-to-back world wars. My great Grandfather served in WW1 and my Grandfather served in WW2. There are people alive still today who have witnessed the horror of what the Nazis did.

This has absolutely nothing to do with religion!

Until people like you can figure it out then there is reason for this minor curb on their rights.

Disclaimer: As I have said before, my comments do not reflect upon the lovely country of Germany we know today. You can not ignore the past though and the possibility of what the world would have been like if the Nazis had have been successful in their madness.

People really should think long and hard about these so-called “realism” mods and maps. Be respectful to the millions that were slaughtered. It is just a game so keep it just a game.

Yeah, nobody gives a **** about Neo-Nazis. That’s right. Then why are they too cowardly to reveal their beliefs to the public half of the time? Sadly, my brother is a Neo-Nazi. It’s caused me to lose a LOT of respect for him, despite the fact that I actually used to look up to him. As for Neo-Nazis being accepted anywhere, I highly doubt they’re respected outside of their little circles. All they do is bring disgrace to Germans, who have tried their damnedest to show that they no longer embrace such beliefts. It’s HIGHLY illegal in Germany to show any Neo-Nazi support.

Honestly, the main reason swasticas are so frowned upon (even when used for authenticity) is PROBABLY due to the fact that jerk-offs like Crash go all anti-Jew crazy at the mere mention of them. I was considering using swasticas in one of my projects, but I think I’ll refrain from doing so now. Thank you, Crash, for showing me how truly immature someone can act about this issue.

As for that ‘freedom’ crap, how about you figure out what ‘freedom’ truly is, Matt. Since 9/11, it’s been far too obvious that most peoples’ supposed ‘love’ for America and ‘freedom’ is due more to the hatred they feel towards foreigners and their customs. Censoring games and such won’t erase the past, but it’s definitely not a good idea to throw around symbols and ideas that will likely offend others.

Dark Killer, thank you for thinking the same way I do about that Iraq crap. I don’t share others’ opinions about the conflict, nor do I believe it’s right to bomb innocent people only because they live in Iraq. You see what it takes for Americans to take action? A bunch of Americans hafta die in a stupid terrorist attack, THEN action is taken. Why? Because freedom has supposedly been threatened.

It makes me sick when I see all of these ‘United We Stand’ bumper stickers and little miniature flags on vehicles everywhere. It’s all a symbol of hatred towards other countries. If I heard people say “I love America” more than they said “We’ll kill those <insert racial slur>”, I’d probably think differently. Unfortunately, I realize that Americans (for the most part) are blood-thirsty animals. Yes, I’m an American in blood, but not at heart.

My Dad (hes 74 now) was fighting for the “Wehrmacht” and he was no Nazi.
My Mom (60 now) was born when the hospital was bombed by the American bombers above Muelheim.
