Suggestion: Medic Tweak

Hi. First I would like to state I don’t complain unstoppable medics, I’m usually one myself. Pretty good one, most of the times “best medic” on server, frequently awarded with “highest battle sense”. Unfortunately Light Arms is my lowest skill, however I managed to run with dual Lugers in last game.

One thing about medics is insultingly stupid. Whenever someone starts shooting at me (and I can’t spot him quickly) I immediately hold Shift (sprint in my config) change to medpacks and start dropping them before my feet. Essentially, I can heal under heavy fire.

It easily makes Medic far more resistant than anyone else. I can run thru places no one else can. I think it’s a bit unfair.

suggestion: change medpacks so they cannot be picked up for 1 second after being dropped. That wouldn’t make significant difference for healing comrades, but would make it harder to run away and heal simultaneously.

naa, don’t change it.

For once, I’ve killed nummerous health-pack-dropping-running-like-a-chicken medics, it’s just about aiming. Than most medics are permanently low on energy (at least the ones doing their job) and Medics missing some advantages other classes have like immense firepower (soldier and FieldOps) the disguise ability of the CovOps or the Landmine planting/defusing construction building/demolishing abilities of the Eng.

Every class has something special, the speciality of the medic is his good survivability, so why change it ??

Medic already has very cool life regeneration. Medic would still be able to run past some kind of obstacle like crates and heal himself quickly, but not under heavy fire.

In many circumstances good aim won’t help you. If there’s some kind of cover nearby, it may be even in THEORY impossible to kill medic, because you don’t have enough time. You would be able to kill anyone else in such situation.

you guys must be playing the girly medic option :stuck_out_tongue: . Light arms is always my first to 4 and generaly medic is still at level 1.

But thats the big advantage of a medic, his survivability! Why are you trying to take away the advantage the medic has, or are you trying to reduce the FieldOps so that he’s only able to call in Arty if he’s not shot at ? Or Engs. that they can only construct if not under enemy fire ?
Medics often need the ability to drop health-packs in front of them to get to a dead buddy in the middle of a fire zone, often the medipacks are barely enough to make it up there and revive your comrade, medics are no unlimited medipack-dropping-machines.

The game and the classes are balanced so that every class has something special that the other classes are missing, medics survive a lot longer in firefights but why do you want to change that ?

I’ve killed enough medics (and beeing killed as a medic) to clearly state that medics are no immortal war gods !!
