Suggestion: Auto kick anyone with more than 150 ping.

(Yak) #1

As the title says, kick anyone with too high of a ping. It’s not fun shooting someone who’s teleporting and can hit you long after you’re around a corner.

(bumbertyr) #2

that alienates a good portion of the playerbase however, not only that somtimes people spike, it’d be very unfair to many players.

There are servers all around the world for them to play on, they can pick one with lower ping. And it wouldn’t kick your for temporarily reaching over 150, it would have to be consistently.

Wont work as the game will sometimes force you to join severs that are bad for you. I can’t quick join anymore because the game kept forcing me onto EU severs which gave me 140ish ping. Also wish they’d fix the game forcing you to join a game even after you cancel out of the join process.

(cornJester) #5

Would make it impossible for me to play with some of my friends who are across the world from me. Whether they joined me or I joined them.

(Edzer) #6

This. Kind of a selfish suggestion from OP.

In that case at least some servers should have HQ EXP (High Quality experience) hashtag to them with such auto rule. If 150 ping is your average latency I’m sorry but you don’t belong in XXI century at least in Europe, US is another matter.

This would work as well, letting people across the world play together while other people can opt out of high ping games.

(Backuplight) #9

As someone who regularly plays with friends between US East and EU, I’ve yet to have an issue with this, but regularly see pings of 150ish in games. Perhaps when custom servers come along one day, but as it stands this would be a bad move.

(Ghosthree3) #10

They could like, fix Quick Join so it’s not a piece of shit and lets you pick region.

(RuleofBooKz) #11

its not barbie island princess adventures where u putter about collecting sea shells. ITs a faced paced FPS and for that u need a good ping. Play another game with your mates from the other side of the world.

u getting to play with ur mates on the other side of the world lessens my enjoyment of my local server where i play with my mates locally - and yes i have mates on the other side of the world and i still am of the opinion i just mentioned

The dude was really chill, but the lag was real

bruh.

In NA servers my ping can range from 30-115(western) and 70-170(eastern) depending on the time of day. I’m sure my ISP is to blame for the wide variance, but I have the best available in my area. Sometimes there are no options in Western US unless I want to queue or wait for players to join.

I really don’t see a problem with warping and such unless someone’s ping is closer to 200. I think a 175 to 200 cut off point would be better.

(KangaJoo) #15

They should either have a ping kicker or do what games like CS do and make it so that playing with 150 ping actually punishes the high ping players and doesn’t affect the low ping players. People that are actually playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played shouldn’t be punished because someone else is choosing to play out of region.

With that being said, I believe SD/nexon are still working on getting servers in all regions so it’s understandable that they allow people to play with high ping. If they didn’t, then a lot of people wouldn’t be able to play, and help test, at all. Even in the US it’s pretty much impossible for me and my friends to play together with less than 90 ping since there aren’t any US central servers yet and I live on the west coast while some of my friends live on the east coast.

(Amerika) #16

Having 150 ping won’t cause you to teleport. Even in games with horrible netcode that doesn’t happen. Teleporting happens when you drop packets. And you can have a 20 ping and drop packets causing a huge issue with being able to hit that person as opposed to a person who has a stable 150 ping.

(CCP115) #17

Is there a way to check this?

A reason I love the Source engine was net_graph 3. Easily check internet speeds and such.

(Ghosthree3) #18

For yourself? Do ‘ping google.com -t’ in cmd prompt without the ’ ', it will endlessly ping google. If you think you’re having issues do this for about 10 minutes and then hit Ctrl-C. If you dropped any packets, that’s bad. If you had any random packets pinging much higher than usual, that’s bad.

(PurpleNurple) #19

The dude I was playing against had 228 ping. It had nothing to do with the connection on my side as you can see my team mate move prefectly fine. Anything above 200 is where the problems start.

(AirborneAsian) #20

Imagine you playing with 90~ ping. Then your family member goes on youtube for a min. And then one second later it goes up to 150. Bang. Your kicked for being around 150 in a sec. All those exp you earned goes down into trash. This is really unfair. Plus, 150~ ping doesn’t affect you performance a lot (no teleporting etc), but over 200 does.
