Obviously high pick auto kick won’t kick spikes but takes an overall average. Don’t be stupid.
Suggestion: Auto kick anyone with more than 150 ping.
A lot of TF2 community servers have this.
Over 150 ping for more than 10 seconds? One warning.
Over 150 ping for more than 10 seconds again? Second warning.
So and so, up to the tenth warning where you are kicked. They give you a lot of chances, so I think this a pretty fair system. If you go over 150 ping more than ten times and for each time for more than ten seconds, somethings either wrong with your internet, or you are in the wrong server region.

They could like, fix Quick Join so it’s not a piece of shit and lets you pick region.
I stopped playing because of this. Since the server-browser doesn’t let me filter for “EU - S” or “EU - O”, I don’t feel like playing. Quickjoin sends me to 300+ games in AUS, manually searching for servers pisses me off with all those max level 6 ones in between.
It does let you filter like that though, you just have to learn how it works now.
No EU-“South, East or West”-distinction. Afaik all .eu server are based in London?
And yes, imo they should auto-kick. If you are connecting from over the ocean, many hops away, then you actually either need a good connection, also resulting in a low ping, or you will have packetloss and damage the other players experience.
Probably they have to take other values for each region (i heard for example in the .us many customers still have to use modems?), but it would be a first step.
Ok, they could rewrite their netcode not to give this kind of advantages to packetlossing highpingers, but the way the game seems to be developed atm,… would be a lot easier to just type in a fitting number.
Oh god I hope not. Afaik Germany is the best location for EU servers.
I depends of where you live. It always depends of where you live.

As a German:
Netherlands is, by far. Germany used to be the “best”, but hasn’t been even close, in years.
yes playing on AUS servers and going on all the massively high ping players we see stumble in it does seem like everyone that click quick join ends up in our games. I saw someone who said they were playing from a small moon in Jupiters orbit one time. Talk about high pings
To be honest quickjoin is hardly quick these days. Atleast for me. Testing the latency takes several minutes (my guess it waits for all pings from the 1000+ servers, we have now). By the time it actualy starts to connect you, those 5 perfect servers are full or unresponsive and you get booted to the serverbrowser anyways.
A non full / non empty / non Password search, filtered by gamemode and sorted by ping is alot faster, ensures that you get the low ping servers and has the advantage to see who is on the server before you join.
no worries, I often end up in US games. They aren’t quite as bad, as at least I can play on them and ruin the fun for everyone else. You can play with 200 ping, nobody else can. 350+ makes it impossible for yourself too. Sometimes, you don’t even notice high ping on your end until someone informatively insults your mother, heritage and ISP in one frustrated sentence.
tell me please. When we had two text-boxes at the left, it was easy: “EU - O” was objective and “EU - S” stopwatch. I didn’t worry about ping, as it was all 30-80 anyways.
Now, I can select EU and ping <50, but have to manually ignore useless lvl <6 servers, which make up a lot of the interesting ones.
Sure, technically it’s not too much work. However, the list takes ages to build, you click a server, and just then it moves, and you attempt to join a server you shouldn’t even see past level 6.
thanks you so much. It didn’t even cross my mind to assume “-” as negative and use quotation marks. any other syntax tricks like looking specifically for servers with more than 10 people connected, that aren’t full, and are either 7vs7 or 8vs8? (yeah, that’s probably a bit overkill, I’ll admit that)
But I bet their internet was still better.
You could even say it was out of this world.
As for quickjoin, I exclusively use the server browser at the moment, much easier to find a decent/appropriate game.
Sort by player count, 8v8s and 7v7s naturally float to the top.
Also when I said 150 ping, that number could change. I chose it because 95% of players are between 30-90 ping. It would work at any number higher than 150.
