Stuff that every covop should know...

(Narkar) #1

I have nothing to do atm so i thought i’d write something about the ET.
Especially things about covert ops. Yesterday one khm… newbie covert
asked me how did he get spotted all the time. Probably because he was
running in the wrong direction with his main gun out. Always take the
pistol w/o silencer or a smokescreen out. And always use passages the
enemy rarely use to get behind them, time your movements by getting to
know their spawn timer (this can change)
So this is how to get behind the enemy:

FUELDUMP (Allies) When the grate has blown, go on ice from the back
way, iceskate to grate and run up toward the fueldump. DONT try to go
on ice where the tank is, use the other way.
When the side wall has blown you should try to judge yourself what
route to take. Sometimes they are sitting right past the side wall and
leave the main entrance unguarded, but sometimes its vice versa.

FUELDUMP (Axis) Before the tank’s over and if you need to get to the
enemy spawn you should go where the tank is but try to hug the middle
mountain side as you go. Less people coming right at you=less people
suspecting you.

After the tank is through the caves. Usually the easiest way to get to
the abandoned battlefield is if you take the 1st or 2nd entrance from
fueldump. You can usually get through fine unless you get caught by
their spawn of reinforcments :disgust: I have even done it as
engineer, building a command post and doing other xp-whoring aside from resupplying (comm post stayed there till the end of the game)

RADAR (Allies) After the main gate is blown there are 2 routes behind
enemy if your covert. 1. is to use the side entrance but 2nd is
to:throw a smoke at main entrance and then jump through it, face
towards your teammates and look at the axis with a face telling : “phew
i almost got killed there…”

RADAR (Axis) If you’r lucky you can use the side entrance, but most of
the time you’d have to shoot anyone you see, coz its really obvious if
your running in the other direction. Other is the main entrance/smoke
trick. Just make a face like you’d really hate that axis that you
barely escaped from.

RAILGUN (Allies) No real way to get to axis initial spawn. Just time
your movements and stay out of sight, sprint behind the house when you
can.

Getting to Depot is real easy, just climb on the bridge there and time
your movements
RAILGUN (Axis) Use the Railgun entrance to allied spawn or if you must,
go from the ice, but never use the front entrance (the one from the
mg-nest)

Depot is the same.

OASIS (Axis) Before the wall has blown. Sometimes you can get from the
ground level, sometimes from the tunnels, but when you get through make sure you hug the back side of allied spawn are, people dont look there.

After the wall has blown, just run to your teamdoor room above where
the wall was. Use capslock+F to open the doors silently, crawl above
the ledge where the pump is and you should be able to bouncejump the
link of broken roofs. (Ive done this as engineer too, you can blow some
stuff up and they wont notice)

OASIS (Allies) Before the wall has blown. Lots of oportunities, but
usually not from where the comm post is. If you have the Old City spawn
but the wall hasn’t blown you can go on the ledge over the pump by
jumping on the 2nd spike in the wall. There you can wait any axis to
open the door for you if you dont have uniform yet.

After the wall has blown. If the tunnel is unguarded you can get
through easy, but if not then its easyer to use the 2nd floor entrance
to axis fort area. From there just improvise (use passages they rarely
use)

BATTERY (Axis) If you have the enemy uni, you can 1) drop a smoke near the ramp boxes, drop into the smoke and bounce into the water (you
should get there very fast and with minimal damage if you bounce)
OR 2) use the back way and bounce to the water (but use the path
leading down, or you will crater)

Remember to bounce down, you move very fast and if you land in water
you should be unhurt.

GOLDRUSH (Allies)

Dont even try to go to the tank from the big doors entrance, there will
be mines, mg gunners and other nasty stuff there. Use the comm post
entrance or the back entrance.
After the tank has been stolen. Time your movements. You can bounce
very fast to axis spawn here too from the truck barrier. Or you can
just jump down from the bridge and run through the axis spawn.

GOLDRUSH (Axis) Just common sense before the tank has stolen.

After the tank has stolen. Use the back ways to allied spawn. Time your
movements and use the 2nd door to allied spawn.

Many other possibilites on Goldrush. My fav cov op map.

SO WHAT TO DO AFTER YOUR IN THE ENEMY SPAWN AND SEE THEM SPAWNING

  • You can see if they have any idlers. If there are then take their
uniforms (dont forget to blow up the pantless corpse)

  • You can follow them and single them out, then kill them with a few
    shots in the head.

  • You can sprint after them knifing all the time (MUHAHAHAHa)

  • etc.

All that and not a single mention of Covert Ops main skill - spotting mines

(Narkar) #3

Yes they should spot mines but i think writing a guide about spotting mines would be pretty short : 1)Press b,2) hold

im talking about tips they dont know already.

(K:os) #4

Maybe add a bit about where enemy engineers usually plant?

(ExP|Maximus191) #5

if your heading off towards the enemy lines in disguise and you hear some apporaching (use headphones imo),best thing i can suggest is to face the same way they are heading and walk backwards or let the enemy run past you but still stay facing the same way they are heading.
This works a treat imo and will arouse far less suspicion in them.

Also i find alot of enemy players who are suspicious of me will take odd pot shots at me to try and get me to attack them.Best thing to do in this case is to stop dead in your tracks and give them a filthy look. This seems to work especially well with enemy medics .As this usually makes then think that they have just health stripped a “friendly”.
I find more times than not they will drop you a couple of packs or better still run over to health you up.It’s then just a simple case of shooting them in the face while they have their medpacks out :stuck_out_tongue:

(Narkar) #6

If there is only 1 enemy (or even 2 if your good) then you should shoot him at sight, dont give him time to think. Your unscoped rifle is much more powerful than their smg. If there are many of them then its probably really much more better to face the other direction and not shoot them (but you should first make sure you dont have your main gun out).

I think that standing with filthy look could actually work. I should try it But you shouldnt stand too long if they are close to you. If you move at very close range (where it usually doesnt display the nametag) then it actually MIGHT display it.

Read and look This to understand how the wierdness of the covert nametag really works. You can take advantage of it when your a covert OR when your trying to spot one

(Pamper) #7

Another important thing for killing idlers is to decide which way to kill them, for maximum XP.
Don’t just knife them! You probably want Covert points, so zoom in a rifle and shoot him in the head. Or satchel him, if you don’t have a scope (but beware of the noise, and also beware of wasting power)

(Cyber-Knight) #8

it’s sometimes a good idea to “destroy” the body you stole the uniform from. especially if the uni is near the enemy base and likely to be seen by the enemy.

i usually just throw down a satchel while i’m waiting to finish changing clothes and then just detonate it when no one is watching. Oddly, I once actually got a kill by doing that. I dunno why his own friendly would be standing near a stripped body with a satchel on top of it, but regardless I got a kill.

(Bokkem) #9

Your unscoped rifle is much more powerful than their smg.

According to this ET weapon guide that’s not correct.

(Narkar) #10

:???: Umm, according to that it IS more powerful: SMG 18 on bodyshot, 50 on headshot while rifle is 34 on bodyshot, 68 on headshot.

Thats bodyshots that do almost 2x the smg damage and headshots that do still more damage than smg.
