Strange ET Glitch.

Just today,
I played ET, and my mouse stopped working after about 2 minutes. I reset the PC, and tried again…same deal.

My keyboard also stopped working once today. I uninstalled ET and reinstalled - same deal…the mouse quits after <2 mins.

Doesnt happen when I surf the net, so the problem is ET.

Any ideas?

Try reinstalling any drivers for mouse and/or keyboard and make another run. Never heard of mouse stopped working in a specific event. You can try to unplug and then plug the stuff back in to, might have some effect, i dont know… :S

It is pretty strange, there really is no end to the mysteries of hardware. A guy I know had problems with his pc, i think the windows kept crashing every now and then or something. He tried everything but the problem still persisted. Then he decided to check the mouse. He went ahead and got a new one and suddenly there was no more problems… go figure

Long shot maybe it will help. My “fine” MSI motherboard didn’t come with a fan for the chipset and an inadequate heatsink. Consequently, it kept overheating while playing games but not with normal windows use. So I opened the case and pointed a big 12 inch fan into the case and the problem went away. Also, after one crash I turned off the power and put my hand on the heatsink and felt that it was too hot to touch which for me is about 65C.

The point is maybe you have something overheating during more intensive gameplay.

Have you tried a different mouse? Or to build on what Edd suggested, install a different driver for the mouse (say the generic mouse driver instead of Logitech drivers).

Or if you have a USB mouse, tried using the PS/2 adapter to use a different port. Is your keyboard USB as well? Have you tried updating your mainboard BIOS?

were you playing No Quarter mod ?
seems people are getting mousey probs in that mod

Also, whenever i logged onto the server. Some of my controls resets to defualt.

Must be an bug in the NQ mod.

No that has nothing to do with a bug, each mod has its own config file so the one mod might not use the same configs as the other. I think the solution is to copy your autoexec.cfg to the noquater mod directory as well.

I’d agree on the settings, but I’ve seen a couple posts about mouse (maybe usb) probs with NQ, no diss on the mod, could be comp related
