All I am asking is for you to elbaorate on all of your “one word” answers. I have a decent idea what you mean in most of your “disslikes” as I have heard them from you before or they were slightly more descriptive but with all of your “likes” I have no clue what it is you actually like about what you stated. I dont think this is asking for a lot and only helps the cause rather then side tracking or derailing it.

Is what I am asking for any different then when you ask for explanations from people in other threads. I am being reasonable, not asking for an essay at all or even implied that, I just want a short sentance to say what is it that you actually like/disslike and not just “one word” answers. After enough people respond and have contridicting likes/disslikes we can choose those topics for actual debate and possibly have a more common understanding seeing as we may share similar views on some other things.

I’m afraid this thread was doomed from the get-go. For one thing, these “stop the hate” threads ignore the fact that the environment on this forum is way too toxic to start with “let’s just have a constructive dialog.”

Beyond that, the first post needed a lot more detail and an example of what you meant. Otherwise, it was bound to be misinterpreted. Let me demonstrate.

It’s not clear which side of the listing is supposed to be the good side or the bad side – it’s entirely up to the reader to decide.

And you’re trying to control other people’s behavior. That usually gets their hackles up.

I respond only a few times a day. But I think you are right. I will start to can my post limit on 3 threads a day. (As in I’ll respond to that thread as much as I want to, but I won’t go into other threads. This will count as my first thread)

Anyways. Like on the left, right is dislike

Smart is simple/But too easy
Teamwork is used/but feels canned
UI is informative/but gets in the way. (I heard they had no 2D artists)
Hit detection is good/but gun play is awkward
The classes are interesting/but don’t feel unique
The heavy is high damaging/but doesn’t have enough HP and too much parkour.
They made an awesome game/but advertised it wrong (Appeal to too many people)
Smart/But the maps still feel 2D
There are interesting constructions (Elevator)/ but I can’t redirect my hostage!!! -.-
The SD guys are somewhat informative to the community/but I’d like to play with them!
Character customization is awesome/but makes no difference

I find it so ironic that you of all people are writing this. I haven’t forgotten that little incident that we had a while back. You gave me bad rep for a comment and I gave you some back. Then that one time through the ps3 chatroom we ended up in a game. I remember that game I didn’t have my mic on but you had yours. You started talking so much disrespectful **** about me because of that stupid single bad rep thing. You went on to call me a pssy, btch, coksuker, and ever other cuss word that I’m sure you have never had the balls to say to someone’s actual face, but its pretty easy to say over a mic in psn. I stayed in the game hoping that u would just shut up and play the game (you didn’t) until i realized you are just the kind of person that f***s up video games for other people.

And not only that but aren’t you the drama queen that was crying “I’m so lonely” because no one wanted to join your chatroom?

LOL if thats what happened ( I don’t really recall the situation you are speaking of) then I am sure there was a reason and you must have been a total dick to me first. I don’t go off on people for random or no reasons, just ask all the people I actually play with, not the ones who just know of me through people like you that spread slanderous lies, there is a reason I still get friend invites all the time in the game after inviting randoms to the fireteams to chat. Obviously I had a problem with you at one point but I left it there and never talked about you to anyone else. Maybe next time don’t talk crap behind a keyboard or spread sladerous stuff about me and you won’t have to hear it over the mic. Oh and trust me I would def say anything I truely felt to someones face, I am not a gossip girl like some of you from the PS3 chats.

I love those threads that give a transparent, easy-to-read example of the OP’s mindset :slight_smile: Psychology rules. “State what you like and don’t like about the game, but if I don’t like what you post, I’m going to call you a dick” - well played Osch! :slight_smile: That’s certainly bringing some balance to the forums.

Anyway, back on topic:

Like - The art style, design work and audio. I think the game has an excellent “feel” to it, and the visuals really are gorgeous. Although SD certainly applied their own touch to ET:QW, it was partly based on existing imagery from previous Quake games. Brink is shiny new, and really shows off what the SD guys can do with a blank slate. The new maps in particular are gorgeous, and I’m sure SD are very proud of the work there.

Dislike - Being stuck with auto-highlighting for buff/interact targets, and having to suffer the one-button™ pain. I won’t go into too much detail because I’ve done it already, too many times - but suffice to say, this is the main reason I haven’t played Brink since a few weeks after release, and probably won’t play it again. When something as fundamental as this screws up so often, I really can’t find the effort or the desire to play.

Ah yes. It’s threads like these that make me look forward to a nice single player game like Deus Ex.

Like: the way I used to be able to hop into a fun, casual game of Brink and have fun with people who didn’t care about what side of the Love/Hate line you were on.
Dislike: how bad the community has become and how you’re either “in” or “out”. The stupid false dichotomy of “you’re either with us or against us” that certain people seem to parade araound here.

Seriously: Most of the hate on this forum is coming from the so-called “fans”. Just because someone has misgivings about the game doesn’t mean they don’t like it. Just because someone likes the game doesn’t mean that they’re automatically right when an agrument occurs. Inbetween the black and white are a million shades of grey (or gray, or both).
I can understand optimism being preffered to non-constructive criticism (and negativity with no other intent), but constructive criticism is healthy for the game and the sort of attitude that some fans display on the forums are actually destructive to the community (and hence the game).
I find myself less and less interested in playing Brink just in case I run into some of the forum people that I think are… less than savory. At least the alleged “haters” are unlikely to be there but they aren’t the ones I’d rather avoid at this point in time.
At this point TF2 is looking more attractive simply because there are more servers and if someone is being a (rhymes with sock) I can switch easily and there are always servers with people being friendly, even to pyro noobs like me (W+M1 ftw).

TL;DR: stop being dicks people!

So I accuse him of not taking it seriously and this is “flaming” him, not to mention I afterwardss just simply asked him to explain more because they were only 1 word generalized likes that seemed to be contridicted by his disslikes. He further explains just 2 of them but when I ask for the rest he goes off on me and claims i am asking him to write an essay and then refuses to say anythign further (although he is much more demanding about getting answers from others in diff threads)… Yeah and I guess all the ETQW Med club and their PC player buddies showed up solely for the purpose to flame this thread and attempt to derail it before it even started as zero have added anyhting but insults and attempts to make it into something much bigger then it is.

All I can say is it seems as if it is immpossible there will ever be a common ground for us to stand on and I guess just keep the hate train rolling and troll those who you don’t like while those who don’t like them will continue to have them on our ignore list and keep ignoring them. Notice I only replied to those atleast attempting to discuss the topic, its because the rest are blocked or got blocked finally after this thread. This thread tells me more then enough about what I need to know.

If they thought I was really being a dick (which was not my intention, I wrongly assumed everyone would know better) why didnt they just write me a PM and say something rather then plaster it all over the thread in an attempt to make it look bad. SO far only 2-3 people even attempted to say anything of value, the rest is all bashing me and trying to take the thread off topic. Yet sorry but I notice thats what they go ape **** over when Wolf shows up in any thread they start and he is way nicer of an ass then they are, atleast he doesnt personally attack people.

And since this thread became so toxic after “they” all showed up and started the derailment I guess no one who is even half legit will come in to even share their two cents on the original topic so R.I.P. thread. LOL and all those calling me a hypocrite need to take a hard good look in the mirror, just becuase you take one thing of out context (as I may have also done) doesnt mean you are being uncivil, it means you made a mistake but by quickly following that up explaining and getting back on topic shows the civility, not those who chimed in just to flame/bash/derail/share solely unkind words. I attempted to get it back on track and kept it as so, YOU all are the ones being exactly what you are trying to label me with. Shows a lot about the true nature of those on this site.

Next to that, I came into this thread to post my likes and dislikes about the game, and then saw your completely uncalled for reaction to *goo’s post. Considering the hypocrisy of that post alone, why would I post my likes and dislikes if all you’ll do is be insulting about it? Think about it for a minute. You ruined this thread, nobody else did.

@Verticae - I only only use the ETQW club name to describe the whole lot of you (as you have all shown to share a mostly single view where as BHC members have objective views from all sides we dont all think alike outside of liking the game and playing it). Do you know how to use google? Look up “false dichotomy”. It amazes me how some of the console players complain about “PC elitism” and then turn around and pull the same bull.
Not everyone who plays on a PC is against console players, just like not all console players are against the PC guys and gasp some of us own both a PC and a console.

As for derailment: I’m pretty sure your harsh reaction to the first 2 reply posts in this forum set the tone for the rest of it.
