still completely unplayable

(shaftz0r) #1

was really hoping with the open beta push there wouldve been a stability patch in the last 6 months, but apparently not? everything looks really polished but sweet jesus, the audio chopping and frame drops to sub 20 are insane. i realize this is a heavily modified ut3 but cmon now. yes my processor is old but i can play everything sans brand new releases.

im a sad panda

dirty bomb was not ready for open beta

i have the same problem with audio + fps stutter and i saw many threads at the steam forums about it.

i can get my fps up to over 100 via config, but after a while it drops down to 40, audio starts stuttering and it becomes unplayable. When i shoot someone it feels like 10fps instead of 40, the announcer has a robotvoice and it’s slowed down. Why is that? 40 fps should still be playable?
I was able to fix this problem by disabling texture streaming with the help of this guide http://steamcommunity.com/app/217140/discussions/0/846964801617332065/?l=english ,but it came back with the fletcher update and I couldn’t find a playable config yet.

I’m starting to think that there is just something wrong with the default config and some settings there? I never had such problems in any game, including other ue3 games.

totally wrong in every way, release, ya it’s borked but beta TEST, exactly what it needs, shows SD more poop that we have and shows Nexon’s ability to run servers needs some serious help

can only get better

If humans would make no errors, computers probably would have never been invented.
It’s not about making errors, but how you handle then.
So now let’s see what SD and Nexon are gona do next!

Hopefully no more scheduled maintenance during Europe prime time :frowning: Sad to wait for about an hour for servers to go up. And that for whole Europe. It hurts watching such an obvious thing about business …

And i also would like to know if servers are virtualized :> Probably yes, but i also asked sometime back then, and also got no answer. I read some papers about this stuff some time ago where they did tests, and the performance can only drop on netcode side of things, cause netcode needs OS to send packets, and that requires virtual manager OS, and that is most cost, as i read …

In any case, once i get a connection, it runs fairly smooth on my end. Occassionally the hitreg gets lost somewhere in the nets for some reason though …

ok sure open beta “test”
the servers list cant even handle so many servers takes 10 secs to load the list. the ****ing quick join is a damn joke and dont get me started on the unbalanced teams and the bad optimization cant handle multi cores and then the bad management with the anti hack ugh i could go on and on. ive pointed out this problems for awhile now and many other people also. with the gates open with these problems its doing more bad than good new players getting their asses kick by high level players and getting connected to high ping servers making them rage quit the game shouldnt of left closed beta until these problems was dealt with but its probably nexon pushing SD to do the stuff like they do to every other game to release soon as possible with nexons track record milking their playerbase to the bone its only a matter of time before p2w stuff. as u can see im not a huge fan of nexon after seeing what they do for 6 years playing combat arms and other nexon titles they ruining good games for what? money! anyway **** it rant over… say what u will

(Nail) #8

go whine about Nexon in their forums, this is Splash Damage

@neo_ta

You claim nexon is forcing them to release early? The game is not being released… nor is it being released early. If you were aware of the game’s development history, I am fairly certain you’d understand that is simply not the case.

And you’ll almost never have a perfect launch. I’ve never seen it at least, and even large companies like Blizzard often have poor launches of completed products. Personally, I think this has been a rather smooth launch. I understand some people are having problems, but I have only encountered minor bugs and few disconnects. In terms of launches, it has been quite good.

You might want to try communicating as if you were above the age of 12. Your opinion might be better received if you do so.

no im saying is that the game has been out for afew years and only lately they have gone full power on releasing to steam and open beta imo thats down to nexon pushing when theres still huge problems with the game and as i said before. i understand its in open beta testing but the launch wasnt that good they couldnt even handle 2000+ people without problems and theres still bugs from when the game released on steam that i listed before and u talk about blizzard lets say WoW they have millions of ppl trying to login at once thats normal for a popular game but SD and nexon knew it was gonna be popular on the 1st day and did nothing to prevent it

and yes my communicating wasnt the best i was just really annoyed and frustrated that im not being heard

The game hasn’t be out for years. It was in alpha and then a closed beta that got less and less closed somewhat recently. Now it’s in Open Beta to flush out issues like what we’ve been experiencing recently. It also gives SD a good idea of what to expect for the actual launch.

The game is in beta. It is experience beta issues that are extremely common. You are expecting it to work flawlessly all the time and completely ignoring the beta tag which is just asinine. Also, as a person who has played quite a few Blizzard games, their full product launches were typically wayyyyyyyyyyyy worse than what Dirty Bomb has experienced. Yes, they have more people playing but they had the same or worse issues for longer. And you had to pay for that game and a subscription and you weren’t reimbursed typically.

Gain some perspective here guy.

(sunshinefats) #17

I think what we have to ask ourselves here is where do we draw the line…on the one hand, yes, it’s an unfinished product…but on the other, SD knew what they were getting into when they threw an unfinished, unpolished game to the proverbial wolves with an open beta. Sure DB is certainly not the first game to have a bumpy start, and certainly won’t be the last, but does that mean that we, as gamers, have to lower our standards and expectations? How will the bar get raised if we as a community continue to settle for less? As a person I can sympathize with the devs, but as a consumer, I’m much less understanding.

again i said i know its open beta but it doesnt excuse the lack of fixing current and old bugs like the matchmaking and unbalance teams. they care about release merc’s and rushing for open beta and damn elite cases for £3.99 which is nexon’s doing. the game has been out in the alpha stage since 2013 so yea afew years. you say “Gain some perspective here guy” ive played dirty bomb for almost 400hrs i have alot perspective here and what needs to be done.

(shaftz0r) #19

played for almost 400 hours, yet nobody has any idea who you are, and your whining. i cant be bothered to put more than 2 hours into a bad game yet here you are still playing apparently. seems like call of duty games are more your speed

i also see a marketed drop in FPS since openbeta, but it feels like its more to do with netcode and nexon servers, than with game itself.
