STEAM - where is everyone?

(Sono) #1

So it’s 8pm EST and I figured i’d play some Brink, only problem is there are currently only 45 total players showing in less than 2 dozen games for the PC via Steam. I don’t have any filters on and have never had a problem finding games even though there are clearly less people playing every day.

Is this just something with steam atm?

(legend123) #2

according to steam there is 673 people on now.

the amount of servers with people in them doesnt indicate that :frowning:

(BomBaKlaK) #3

Lot of serveur not so much players : /

need some fix, some fresh maps and crosshair fix ! :stuck_out_tongue: (at least color cvar)

(crazyfoolish) #4

I don’t usually have problems finding games at night. Other times of day are problematic.

Yeah, i saw that after i posted this and figured it was a steam issue. 3 hours later and still having issues : /

Just start playing and people will join. If everyone trolling the forums would play we wouldn’t have so many empty servers.

(Tetra) #7

They’re playing games that are fun instead, obviously.

(slengteng) #8

I was just playing and everything was normal, plenty of matches to pick from. Are you sure you didn’t set something in your filters that is limiting what you are seeing?

(pinion120) #9

Playing everyday in full servers. That’s where I am.

(Smoochy) #10

im seeing less and less servers. the annoying thing is when you see a good server with 14 people on and it refuses to let you join. you refresh and still 14 people. at least the filters work now.

(Je T´aime) #11

Thats because those servers have 2 reserved slots, so you can only join if your a menber or whatever, but ye that sux i keep joining servers with 14/16 then says server is full, gets annoyng.

(Smoochy) #12

dont they have auto kick like every other game? that makes more sense than having 7-7 for most of the time!

(Kurushi) #13

I’m finding LOADS of servers in-game. I can always find a game.

If I search for servers through the Steam browser I’m lucky to find 15 with no filters…

(Kurushi) #14

Are you still here?

(Mycologist) #15

I keep trying to play every once and a while, but here are the latest stats when I tried to play (During primetime):

435 Servers Worldwide (VAC Enabled)
316 Are Not Password Protected
77 Servers Have Players Connected
8 Servers Have More Than 6 People Playing
0 Servers Give Me Less Than 100ms Latency

I truly want this game to succeed, even if the only reason is that I paid $50 for it; but I also have other reasons, including glimpses of a truly great game.

We had 4 servers, now we have none. None of our community’s 500+ members have launched Brink in a week. I can’t even get someone from my 145 friends to play; and I can’t say I blame them.

today :
current players 1,460 Peak 1,717 BRINK

first day under the 2000 peak !

(SockDog) #17

If there isn’t something inherently wrong with those numbers all I can see SD doing is patch the hell out of the game and then make a big push with the DLC to bring everyone back for a second try. If the game isn’t solid before then they’ll have a near impossible task to recover.

Awww. You stole the words out of my mouth.

I think SD needs to give a free week of brink for players on steam.
Then put in on huge sale like 20 dollars or something.

Promotions like this only work if the game is working almost flawlessly, if the game doesnt work well enough, specially for ati users, it will hurt more than do good.

See, this is the big flaw of rushing a game with the ‘will fix it later’ attitude, if the franchise is not popular enough the game will not survive long enough to get actually fixed, and both non-adopters and early customers will suffer for this. Sadly it’s a more like ‘will fix it in the future if we can get more money’ attitude. (Note that I think the major responsible for this is Bethesda, just look at their track record)

The only hope for long term support is if they can get almost all issues fixed in time for the first DLC. Just think of all the gamers that bought the game but are not playing because they can’t (for example ati users).

I’ve suspected for a while that they will do this soon shortly after or during the DLC and following a “we feel it’s pretty damn polished” patch. At least the Free weekend thing, then they’ll probably have a big Steam sale shortly after. Well actually it will be Bethesda that does this.
