Stealth technology

Could stealth technology be use ?
I was Thinking of a class call <Intel>

The primary ability could be to gather intel (Spoting ennemies and Killing if necessary)

-say this guy would have the stealth technology for x amount of
limiting time only(30 secs maybe)

-Equipped with only a knife or a Knife and pistol (as hes using an advanced technology )
As soon As he uses the weapons hes revealed

  • Could be use to spoting ennemies ,Killing an hard to get ennemie by sneaking behind him with the knife,or killing spawn campers

What do you think ?

I think they would be near the top of the kill list pretty easily, the knife atm is devastating and mixing it with invisibility just gives you a killing machine.
Why spot when you can run up to someone while invisible (or faded i guess) and kill them really fast.

He may kill one guy in steath mode but as he will be revealed after ,with only a knife (if no pistol) he wont live long
Spot for the team (maybe revealing ennemies in the mini map)

I like disguise mechanics, but honestly I don’t like any sort of invisibility. It just doesn’t feel like elegant design to me. It feels like a cheap way to add variety to abilities, but not make the game any better. And half of the multiplayer FPS out there seem to have it these days.

Yeah, but then you are potentially within the midst of 1 or 2 more guys. At close range that tends to be an easy kill.
Or if you stab the first guy at the back from behind thats an instant kill, the other 2 would have to notice and turn round before you took them out.
ITs currently easy to take out a couple of guys if you manage to get close, and thats without the first dying before seeing you.

(rookie1) #6

disguise mechanics is more an aliens tech…Stealth technology is a possible Humans tech

No it isn’t lol…

Could happend that where game tactic count …Never stay in group …Grenade will make a multiple kills also

yes it is! :stuck_out_tongue:

Predator, Arnie uses mud and such to disguise himself against an alien that has a cloaking device.

(rookie1) #11

LOL … Kind of cloaking device I would say more… LOL

Also There could be an uncloaking Sound effect that could warn surround players (could be in another room) that a Stealth Char just get revealed near by

What else do we need than invisble cloak?

No but seriously, I see one clever way to accomplish stealth class. The solution could be to give the “stealth-class” some protection gear against the poison. You would have the ability to stay alive in those poisoned points that are used to seal the game area. So you could then sneak behind the enemies by using those class-exclusive routes. Obviously I understand this would mean more work for level designers, but if done properly, could add depth to the game. What do you guys think?

Give covops a gas mask? It could work but its usefulness would rely heavily on map layout. I like the idea but I’d hate to be on the map team if I had to put tunnels everywhere now.

I don’t like invisibility in this sort of game. It slows things down when you should be working with the team.
Halo 4 has a stealth item that gives you predator style invisibility while you’re standing still and you fade back in when you move and it’s time limited. But Halo 4 is set on far more open maps. To be honest it doesn’t really give that much of an advantage unless there’s a camping choke point in which case it’s just a cheap trick and not a useful addition to the game’s mechanics.

It’s the sort of mechanic that works great as something in a single player where you can stealth through an entire level like a boss ninja, but in multi-player it just doesn’t gel that well.

Even the disguise mechanic is a little cheap if not done right, but at least then a good team can do spy checks and good communication negates the disguise. There’s nothing you can really to defend against invisibility.

I did mention something once over on the the main SD forums about basing temporary boosts and buffs through proximity. For example a medic being within range of another team mate would get them +10HP of regenerative health. The thing with that was what could the Covie do? It’s generally a class that plays further back or sneaks forward and doesn’t necessarily operate with the team.

My thinking was that you play on their isolation. So a Covie would be invisible when outside the range of any enemy player, if within range of one enemy player there would be a haze, if more than one the invisibility would further decay.

Anyway, I’ve said enough. Not really saying the above is wanted or needed, just throwing it out there to the bunnies/wolves.

Not a fan of invisibility, it’s too cheap… disguise is fun though.

Situational teamplay buffs/combos does sound worth exploring.

They’re meant to be the snipers and the recon. Ie: they either provide covering fire or surgical sniping or they provide communications about enemy movements.

I know it’s difficult to try find some sort of buff for them to provide but I think they need to be able to tag targets and set small traps.
The heartbeat monitor is perfect for them. They’re about intel and enemy movement. That sort of stuff fits them well.

Every players has their tastes, Me I would find Stealth fun and fit like many other gamers i presume.
The Disguise tech wont fit in DB .Strogg were aliens its not the same.
The only kind of disguise that i think that would fit is like if you were dressed like an ennemy (stealing clothes for a Death body)
Something that could help and that would fit is a Flying drone like in etqw
