Stay in your class, or lose the upgrade?

(this has to be well known, but I tried searching multiple ways and can’t find the thread??)
Hi kids,

This should go in the “REAL bugs” thread but it’s already kinda sorta in there.

So go earn lvl4 heavy and go running around with your smg/heavy combo. Whoo.
Now switch classes, say to be a productive little engineer for a specific task, and go back.
Now you only have your chosen heavy and no more smg. :bored:
It will come back on the next map, and each map, until XP reset.
As long as you start out as a soldier, anyway. Ain’t that nifty?
Don’t switch classes if you like your MG-42 served with a side of smg.

Are there any other “stay in your class, or lose it” bugs?

You just have to reselect it from the limbo menu.

No, see… that’s not true. Try it. I just tested multiple ways. You can reselect all day.
The first time it happened to me I was already familiar with the akimbo crap, and
immediately tried reselecting. I’ve tried reselecting the same weapon, another
weapon first and then the one I really want, and another class and back -
but that is what caused it in the first place.

(on the linux client anyway, never played the win32 but can’t imagine they’d be different.)

I’ve had this too a lot of times. Mostly in goldrush, where I sometimes switch between engi/panzer, whatever is needed. It doesn’t seem to happen with another level 4 skill afaik.
